Tories accuse Angela Raynor of "doing a Basic Instinct"

Totally outrageous, misogynistic so called news item in the dreaded DM today.

Senior Tories have accused Angela Raynor of distracting our buffoon Prime Minister by crossing and uncrossing her legs - à la Sharon Stone - in Prime Minister's question time.

Can they sink any lower???

Yet another disgusting example of the true mind sets of the guffawing Tories. They're a disgrace yet again.

trisher Sun 24-Apr-22 11:10:06

It is disgusting Mind it is obvious why they are choosing to attack her she is coming across as the biggest challenge to the Tories. There are numerous clips of her calling the Tories to account, both in and outside the House.
This is a great one about energy sources. twitter.com/BBCPolitics/status/1504073901453758464
With Dominic Raab trying to cope.

Mr.Johnson has tweeted

As much as I disagree with @AngelaRayner on almost every political issue I respect her as a parliamentarian and deplore the misogyny directed at her anonymously today

I have decided to treat this article as those on GN repeatedly tell us to do with anything in the Daily Mail, Mail on
Sunday or Mail online and that is ignore it.

Nannee49 Sun 24-Apr-22 11:23:09

Of course GNs read the DM Zoejory, albeit online because who would give it their money, because it's useful to know all POVs.

And whether the article can be regarded as clickbait or not, it's still indicative of the excoriation slung at Angela Raynor for being a bit too successful coming from such lowly roots.

How dare she!

tickingbird Sun 24-Apr-22 11:29:06

How very dare she?

Carry on up The Commons!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 24-Apr-22 11:42:02

Of course Johnson isn’t a misogynist is he

eazybee Sun 24-Apr-22 11:42:27

I doubt if Angela RayNER would have the wit to think of it.
Scared of her?
There is a large collection of clips of her greatest gaffes.

Zoejory

This appears to be one of the Mail's exclusives. Other papers are calling it ridiculous which it is. I didn't think that GN folk read the Mail.

Apart from anything else, they've got the wrong film. It wasn't due to Sharon Stone crossing/uncrossing her legs it was due to the lack of underwear.

I doubt even the Mail would infer that.

Totally pathetic story for clickbait.

To avoid confusion I am no fan of this government . But please. Let's not make a trashy story in a trashy paper into some massive deal.

It is a massive deal though. The DM are telling its not-insubstantial readership that a stupid, common woman of loose morals is using sex to bait our saintly, well educated PM because she can't stand up to him any other way.

So the DM readers whom are unable to tell they are being manipulated, of who there are many, now have a view of Raynor that is strengthened by misogynistic and untrue reporting.

It changes the political landscape of the country and we can't ignore it. Good for the PM for criticising them. But he did it on Twitter; which as you know is considered by many on here as the devil's work and not worth looking at. So the size of his audience is very different to that of the DM.

FannyCornforth Sun 24-Apr-22 11:46:48

I think that he’s scared of her too.

But (I’m a bit scared to say this, please go easy with me) I have previously noticed that their exchanges often have a certain frisson

ruthiek Sun 24-Apr-22 11:47:03

Wouldn’t put anything past Miss Rayner , she is the reason I won’t vote Labour along with Emily Thornberry

volver Sun 24-Apr-22 11:47:43

Oh and look. Already, mud being slung at Rayner.

No, we shouldn't ignore it.

FannyCornforth Sun 24-Apr-22 11:48:58

But I buy the DM and I'm a member of The Labour Party, so maybe it’s better just to a ignore me as an analogous misfit smile

Zonne Sun 24-Apr-22 11:55:10

Not only should it not be ignored, it should be reported to IPSO by as many people as possible www.ipso.co.uk/

It’s despicable nonsense.

Of course, the underlying message is that Johnson is so bad ant PMQs, we need to find an excuse for it. That the best they can come up with is that he’s Benny Hill in a suit highlights how desperate his supporters are.

Good decision "GrannyGravey". I echo it.

How did that "e" get in. Sorry!

icanhandthemback Sun 24-Apr-22 11:58:40

I can't stand Angela Raynor but this is an absolutely disgusting article which does no favours to political debate.

FannyCornforth Sun 24-Apr-22 11:59:11

Johnson tweeted that?!
I’m flabbergasted.
Well done Bodger (ooh, that hurt)

It might be true. These people aren’t necessarily deadly enemies behind the scenes. Seeing as Boris is purportedly a womaniser and I think Ms Rayner’s a shrewd cookie, she may well have been trying to put him off his stroke!

I can imagine Angela Rayner laughing as much as I am.

Incidentally, as I’m typing it’s just been mentioned on the midday news on the radio.

Visgir1 Sun 24-Apr-22 12:30:11

Absolutely rubbish from a rubbish paper.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 24-Apr-22 12:31:10

The tweet put out by Johnson is being repeated word for word by all the Tory MPs.

They might have at least changed a word or two!

Just how sincere does that make any of them?

Clearly saw which way the wind was blowing and attempt at mitigation - AGAIN

I can imagine Angela Rayner laughing as much as I am.

Tweeted this morning by @AngelaRayner. I don't think she's laughing.

Women in politics face sexism and misogyny every day - and I’m no different. This morning’s is the latest dose of gutter journalism courtesy of @MoS_Politics
I stand accused of a “ploy” to “distract” the helpless PM - by being a woman, having legs and wearing clothes. I am conspiring to “put him off his stride”. The rest I won’t repeat - but you get the picture.
Boris Johnson’s cheerleaders have resorted to spreading desperate, perverted smears in their doomed attempts to save his skin. They know exactly what they are doing. The lies they are telling.
The potted biography is given - my comprehensive education, my experience as a care worker, my family, my class, my background. The implication is clear.
But it is the PM who is dragging the Conservative Party into the sewer - and the anonymous Tory MPs doing his bidding are complicit. He and his cheerleaders clearly have a big problem with women in public life. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I won’t be letting their vile lies deter me. Their attempts to harass and intimidate me will fail. I’ve been open about how I’ve had to struggle to get where I am today. I’m proud of my background, I’m proud of who I am and where I’m from - but it’s taken time.
I hope this experience doesn’t put off a single person like me, with a background like mine from aspiring to participate in public life. That would break my heart. We need more people in politics with backgrounds like mine - and fewer as a hobby to help their mates.
Thank you to so many of you for your messages of solidarity and support. For calling this out for what it is.
You are making a stand in the name of decency - against those who would further coarsen, cheapen and debase our politics to benefit their own interests. We all deserve so much better.

So you believe some Sunday Mail journalist? Who clearly has no evidence?

I've no idea what we're coming to.

I'll be as glad as you to see the back of Boris and chums but this sort of story needs evidence. And there isn't any.

Possibly why the Mail is now headlining with Rushi Sunak's swimming pool.

Getting the masses in a stew.

I find it amazing that people believe the Sunday Mail when you denigrate it and its sister paper, DM, so often.

I would imagine Boris tries flirting with all the women MPs, the assigned role for women in his life being screwing and getting pregnant. Angela though is way out of his league and would see right through him.
