Tories accuse Angela Raynor of "doing a Basic Instinct"

Totally outrageous, misogynistic so called news item in the dreaded DM today.

Senior Tories have accused Angela Raynor of distracting our buffoon Prime Minister by crossing and uncrossing her legs - à la Sharon Stone - in Prime Minister's question time.

Can they sink any lower???

Yet another disgusting example of the true mind sets of the guffawing Tories. They're a disgrace yet again.

It’s all lies. The majority of posters on GN will attest to that.
That’s of course it’s not when the article suits their narrative.

Zoejory Sun 24-Apr-22 12:52:25

So everyone believes this story in the Sunday Mail? OK.

And that is it in a nutshell.

If Keir Starmer was accused by some journalist of being distracted by someone those who support him would be saying It's all lies etc etc

However I am probably just as keen to see a change in government as many here. But when I see something that's clearly a made up tale by the ghastly Mail I won't grab on to it just because it suits my narrative

Oh and look. Already, mud being slung at Rayner.

No, we shouldn't ignore it.

It might be true. These people aren’t necessarily deadly enemies behind the scenes. Seeing as Boris is purportedly a womaniser and I think Ms Rayner’s a shrewd cookie, she may well have been trying to put him off his stroke!

I can imagine Angela Rayner laughing as much as I am.

Incidentally, as I’m typing it’s just been mentioned on the midday news on the radio.

She isn’t laughing. And nor should you be.

Angela Raynor is increasingly proving herself to be a good deputy leader. She’s more integrity than Johnson or the MPs who support him

FannyCornforth Sun 24-Apr-22 12:59:43

Rayner is an absolute force of nature.
And she is such a grafter.
She’s the epitome of ‘doing everything backwards and in high heels’
I love her. She’s the Socialist Thatcher ?

Riverwalk Sun 24-Apr-22 13:00:00

It's a great pity that Angela Rayner was unable to have a decent education.

For a young woman of her background she has held her own when standing-in for Keir Starmer on his many absences, and I have to say she puts in a feistier performance than he does.

She's more than a match for Johnson.

Disgraceful article, even for the Mail.

Wouldn’t put anything past Miss Rayner , she is the reason I won’t vote Labour along with Emily Thornberry

Oh do explain. Properly though. Do you have valid reasons for disrespecting these two women in their professional roles, or have you just been told to do so by little prejudice pieces in the gutter press? ?‍♀️

volver Sun 24-Apr-22 13:04:30

Zoejory I wondered what point you were making. Now I've got it. Its abundantly clear that the Mail made the whole thing up. Maybe they got some tame Tory MP to say what they wanted them to say. But sympathy and excuses for the Conservative Party is not the point of this story.

Oh, and check your film references.

Iam64 Sun 24-Apr-22 13:08:40

Tellya - give me Raynor and Thornberry over Gove, Reece-Smug, Johnson and co any day

Remind me who called the Tory MPs

SCUM?

I reckon whoever said it had a point.

There's been plenty of pearl clutching about her using the word "scum" in Parliament, but I don't think I've read many people claiming she was wrong.

JaneJudge Sun 24-Apr-22 13:15:04

It has really annoyed me. It is all that is wrong with this country. She has worked as a carer and has a child with a disability. The saying, knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing springs to mind. Instead of acknowledging how valuable carers are, they have concentrated on her education and background and the fact she is a vagina haver. These people who own and control the media have a lot to answer for sad

I think it describes whoever has reported this accurately. It should p**s off all women, especially working class women.

I decided this morning that I’m going to draw the cabinet and other front benchers in the style of Charles Addams.
Uncle Fester is Johnson; Morticia is Patel; Lurch is Rees Mogg.
I’ve never seen the character on the far right before, but that has to be Fabricant.
Wednesday could be Dorries, or maybe Gove ?

icanhandthemback Sun 24-Apr-22 13:18:21

Surely this sort of story has nothing to do with the politics you support? No matter what our politics, we should be decrying this misogynistic attack on a woman from a source who hasn't got the courage to give his name.

JaneJudge Sun 24-Apr-22 13:20:42

I reckon it may be Nadine that has said this tbh, is that slander? grin

FannyCornforth Sun 24-Apr-22 13:21:59

Mad Nad? She is definitely at least a little bit in love with Bodger

volver Sun 24-Apr-22 13:27:03

Sorry if people are offended, but here we go.

Mail makes up story about Rayner and cites unnamed Tory MP.

Whole world gets angry about it.

Tory MPs start saying what an awful thing it is.

Mail makes a new article about how the Tory Party is quite nice, really. Whilst repeating all the stuff about 41 year old grandmothers.

I can't think I'm the only one who sees this? The Mail are manipulating Tory sympathisers. ??‍♀️

FannyCornforth Sun 24-Apr-22 13:32:18

volver nice one ?

Zoejory Sun 24-Apr-22 13:35:20

Where is the Mail's article as to how the Tories are quite nice.?

I've not seen one for a long time. It's apparent they want Boris and his gang out.

I am no Tory sympathiser but I fail to see how these articles are being taken seriously. All they do is whip up those who despise Boris etc etc so the press will win again. Getting the masses to point fingers at how vile etc etc the Tories are.

Where is any evidence? I keep banging on about this but I want names.

JaneJudge Sun 24-Apr-22 13:37:42

There is another article now, I have looked and I blame you volver which says

Ms Rayner, 41, a grandmother who left school at 16 while pregnant and with no qualifications before becoming a care worker, has frequently landed blows on the PM in the Commons.

Yes I know, volver Wrong film. With early onset dementia I tend to make ghastly errors.

I'm not giving either sympathy or excuses. I just want to know who said it!

In a court of law anecdotal evidence isn't admissible.

Quotes:

Angela Rayner blasts Tories over Basic Instinct claims

She wins support from across the political divide at Westminster over claims

Conservative peer Lord Daniel Finkelstein said: 'I think the MP or MPs responsible for saying this are shameful.

Andrew RT Davies, the leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Senedd, said: 'This is a disgrace.'

If you are looking for the actual words "Tories are quite nice, really" then you don't know how propaganda works.

MaizieD Sun 24-Apr-22 13:42:46

What is amusing me is that the picture of Rayner on the front of the Mail (it was all over twitter, so I could hardly avoid seeing it) was definitely not taken in the commons and her legs are probably hidden from Johnson's view as the dispatch box and the table it sits on are between him and her.

Zoejory Sun 24-Apr-22 13:42:53

That's funny. I wasn't actually looking for that

Zoejory Sun 24-Apr-22 13:45:20

The way we're going nobody will want to become a politician. Social media and the press are making sure about that.

I'm off to get outraged about Rishi's swimming pool now.
