Tories accuse Angela Raynor of "doing a Basic Instinct"

Totally outrageous, misogynistic so called news item in the dreaded DM today.

Senior Tories have accused Angela Raynor of distracting our buffoon Prime Minister by crossing and uncrossing her legs - à la Sharon Stone - in Prime Minister's question time.

Can they sink any lower???

Yet another disgusting example of the true mind sets of the guffawing Tories. They're a disgrace yet again.

Allsorts: this is hopefully not a goady post, but just what will it take for you to ever condemn the Johnson administration? Not the Tories, some of whom are decent human beings, but this current crew?

varian Sun 24-Apr-22 18:58:43

What an appalling indictment of the PM by his dwindling, and increasingly desperate band of supporters.

Iam64 Sun 24-Apr-22 19:13:13

Johnson has condemned the misogyny directed at Raynor
How any woman can criticise Raynor in this situation is beyond me

varian Sun 24-Apr-22 19:24:17

Has anyone accused the alluring Tory front benchers Pritti Patel, Liz Truss and Nadine Dorries of trying to distract the opposition by leg crossing?

No, thought not.

He's saying "I thought I told you my zip needed mended"
She's saying "I thought I told you to do it yourself"

Or is he saying
‘Now you know where the signed Brexit Treaty is. You’ll have to get it for yourself.’
If you look closely you can see she’s leaning forward because she’s actually being sick.

Ahem, is it possible that Johnson, or one of his allies arranged this ‘story’. Great distraction from the Real World and an opportunity for Johnson to criticise misogyny?

Don't worry.

No-one believed his misogyny condemning tweet.

No-one believes anything he says..

Me. Yesterday. 13:27.

Obviously the details about Angela Rayner are total fabrications but Boris’s part in the article was all 100% true!

volver Mon 25-Apr-22 09:17:21

I don't actually think Johnson had anything to do with this. Can't say the same for his PR department though. They don't seem particularly on the ball.

Parsley3 Mon 25-Apr-22 09:32:22

Much as I dislike Johnson, I am another one who doesn’t think that this particular article was his idea. However, he does have to take responsibility for surrounding himself with brainless acolytes and giving them free range to save his sorry hide.

I worked with a woman who used precisely this tactic, a great deal of leg crossing and wearing of short skirts over stockings and suspenders. Scared of being accused of sexist behaviour it simply made the men she worked with extremely uncomfortable; they found nothing alluring about it.
Angela Rayner should dress appropriately for the situation she is in, and choosing to wear very short skirts whilst facing a mainly male audience from the front bench is inappropriate.
Knees together, ankles crossed.

LizzieDrip Mon 25-Apr-22 10:30:21

We really have returned to the 19th Centuryangry How very dare a working class, northern lass who was pregnant at 16, and wears short skirts, have the audacity to think she has a voice!!! How low will the Conservative media sinkangryangryangry

This is just abominable. Knees together, ankles crossed? She's not the Duchess of Cambridge. confused

Maybe she should just stay home in a burka in case she inflames any passing men. angry

blossom14 Mon 25-Apr-22 10:45:06

eazybee I used to work with plenty of men who would openly mansplain in front of one and stand right next to me jingling coins in their pockets. I would have been shot down in flames if I had confronted them.
Many times I have tried to explain to male co workers that women are not trying to 'speak to them' with what they wear - they are pleasing themselves.

Mr.Johnson has tweeted

As much as I disagree with @AngelaRayner on almost every political issue I respect her as a parliamentarian and deplore the misogyny directed at her anonymously today

I have decided to treat this article as those on GN repeatedly tell us to do with anything in the Daily Mail, Mail on
Sunday or Mail online and that is ignore it.

Thanks for posting that, GrannyGravy.
I had read it in this morning’s Times and was about to quote it.

God knows I’m no fan of BJ but it needed to be added to the thread.

This is a wind up, right? Surely nobody apart from the author of that Daily Mail article believes this sort of tosh.

AGAA4 Mon 25-Apr-22 10:54:43

Women have been wearing short skirts since the 60s and should be able to wear whatever they want without wondering if it may be a distraction to men.
If some men didn't keep their brains in their trousers there would be no problems.
