According to that well known publication of all things in the news ?, otherwise known as The Mail, HRH us going to decide at the 11th hour whether or not she will be able to deliver the said speech. I'm sure she doesn't care what I think, but it would seem time for Charles to take up the slack.

We watched part of the State opening and speech on the news.
My husband's comment "It's like a bloody pantomime."?

Oh, I do enjoy a pantomime!!
Who doesn't?

If the queen kicks the bucket and the jubilee holiday is cancelled, will we have to go to work instead?

Well, someone has to keep society going!

Bank holiday or not, Jubilee or not, I hope all Republicans are volunteering to keep everything going.

what did she say in it? or what did he say?
I was at work

vegansrock Tue 10-May-22 20:48:01

Loads of people have to work bank holidays anyway. I think it’s a bit mean changing the school half term so the kids and staff don’t actually get an extra day.

I feel sorry for HM, she has given us her life and gets abuse in return. Some of her children deserve it - she most definitely does not.

Lucca Tue 10-May-22 21:48:28

I still don’t see how she has “given me her life “ sorry. In what way ?

Not being “nasty “ by the way.

Redhead56 Tue 10-May-22 21:55:48

I couldn't stand Camilla sitting smiling like a Cheshire cat.

Bridgeit Tue 10-May-22 22:02:59

Don’t be silly, she hasn’t given you her life, but she has lived the life that she was born into adhering to the dictates of our country.
She may not have wanted to , none of us choose who or what we are born into,, it may eventually change , but not any time soon .

Bridgeit Tue 10-May-22 22:24:02

Ohh sorry that first comment sounded a little rude wasn’t meant that way.

Nerves?

Redhead56 Tue 10-May-22 22:39:24

I am not convinced it was nerves but you may be right I am naturally cynical.

mokryna Tue 10-May-22 22:50:16

The Queen could of abdicated at 23 like her uncle and easily lived a free very confortable life instead, she gave her whole adult life to serving her country. No one could have done better.
I would not want to live in the big palaces, do world tours nor be dressed early every morning to please the public and give speeches till late in the day.

Imagine Boris being elected as President, Trump is trying a come back and then there’s the other one they can’t get rid of, really is that what you wish for?

paddyann54 Tue 10-May-22 23:10:15

Why does everyone immediately think of the worst ever presidents and PM.There have been ,more good presidents in history than bad ones .We got Boris because eegits voted for him
Hopefully nobody would bethat daft again!

volver Tue 10-May-22 23:27:27

Nobody ever mentions Bolsonaro. Why does nobody ever mention Bolsonaro? Or Bukele? It couldn't be because that would require some original thought, could it?

rubysong Tue 10-May-22 23:40:14

I watched the opening of Parliament with DGS (two and a half). He was impressed by black rod and spent the afternoon shouting "Close the door!" Then shutting the door and banging on it with a stick. When his mum came home I explained to her what he was doing and why.

I find it annoying too.

I do believe that if volver were to take a poll of everyone in this country of ours, he would find that there is a very great support for our Queen, and the Royal family, and if the situation were to change to a Presidential situation then one might be faced with President Blair, Brown, Corbin or even Starmer, heaven forbid

vegansrock Wed 11-May-22 06:23:22

A president doesn’t have to be a failed politician. Some people can’t grasp that. If Charles or William wanted the role they could stand for election.
