Barclays Bank alerted the National Crime Agency to huge transactions to the Tory Party.
They traced a “clear line” to a pro Kremlin politician and flagged suspected money laundering and an illegal campaign donation.

Why did it take an American newspaper to unearth this latest disgraceful episode of corruption and why is it not headline news in this country?

volver Mon 16-May-22 19:31:51

And I sometimes think that if Boris started stomping on kittens outside Parliament, the "Boris babes" would say there were too many kittens anyway and the snowflakes need to stop complaining.

Random thought....which do you think is more likely - Boris wrestling Putin or Boris stomping on kittens?

I've never used the phrase Boris babes before. Seems apt, though.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 16-May-22 19:34:23

I don’t know who the Boris babes are. Certainly not me despite being a Conservative voter.

I must say I despair when I see people contributing to threads about whether or not you iron tea towels but few are interested in issues like this.

Have you seen the latest pile on on one of our posters?
Disgraceful ?

volver Mon 16-May-22 19:35:38

I know GSM. It just sort of flowed out of my fingers though.

Yes, having an opposite opinion should not give a free range for personal insults.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 16-May-22 19:39:47

Och, those fingertips … ?

Floriel Mon 16-May-22 19:46:03

Volver, why don’t you ask President Zelensky if he wants to get rid of Boris right now?

volver Mon 16-May-22 19:48:22

If the UK government was run by Larry the Cat it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to our support for Ukraine. But Boris has you believing otherwise.

Iam64 Mon 16-May-22 19:57:27

I don’t like it trust our glorious leader. He’d Mr Johnson, not Boris

Private Eye have been writing about how corrupt Sheleg is for the last two years. Then he was the largest Tory donor and sole party treasurer.

All donations to the Conservative party are carefully vetted, says Boris Johnson of fears of Russian interference in UK politics.

Who was doing the the vetting? Udi Sheleg

Johnson is the most dishonest and corrupt Prime Minister this country has ever had and it was know before he ever came to power.

I do take part in the light-hearted threads because if I spent my day thinking about BJ and the corruption I would get depressed.
This doesn't mean that every day I don't wonder why he is still our PM. What does he have to do to be removed?
I'm starting to think he could get away with anything ?

I sometimes think Boris could parachute into the Kremlin, wrestle Putin to the ground, sit on him till he expired and all the Boris-bashers would say is, ‘well, he’d do anything to get out of the lockdown party scandal.’

Now that's what I call an unnecessary post.

One thing I am hearing from Callistemon's, Grandmabatty's, GrannyGravy's, Kim's and Germanshepherdsmum's posts is the sound of people getting worried that these threads do make people think - but they are seeing that going in a way they wouldn't want them to.

Who are "our" in that sentence *MerylStreep"?

Callistemon21 Mon 16-May-22 21:35:23

"our"

Our presumably means a Gransnet member?
A Gransnetter?
Someone belonging to the same forum as us?

I think that statement needs some explanation Daisyann

I'll repeat my post in case you misunderstood it:

Perhaps some people just want a bit of light hearted relief and companionship

Probably they do.

How does discussing or getting angry on here about these things change anything? It can't.
It's like yelling at the television.
Perhaps it helps some posters let off steam but it might add to others' stress levels.

We don't know what other posters have going on in their lives either. Perhaps they just want a diversion from RL.

Callistemon21 Mon 16-May-22 21:38:58

What is that supposed to mean?

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

The more that is revealed, the more limpet like Mr Johnson appears to be. Unless more in his own party resolve to get rid of him, we voters, even including Mr Starmer, will have to wait for the next GE.

Unless you have a plan of action you can share.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 17-May-22 08:39:32

Worried that these threads make people think

Are you serious Daisy?

Esspee Tue 17-May-22 08:56:33

I still see no mention of the subject in the U.K. media.
Has anyone else seen anything? I did read about it on Twitter.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 17-May-22 09:02:02

Possibly it’s the subject of an ongoing investigation …?

Grandmabatty Tue 17-May-22 09:02:47

Espee I've only seen it mentioned on Twitter. It's quite worrying that the mainstream media can ignore as uch stories.

Grandmabatty Tue 17-May-22 09:03:02

*Such stories

Esspee Tue 17-May-22 09:10:45

My mother used to get American newspapers sent to her by family before the Abdication crisis. The media in this country didn’t report a thing yet in America it was front page news.

Are we being subjected to censorship?
