So Mr & Mrs Sunak rank in the top 250 wealthiest people in the U.K.??
How can we possibly take him seriously when he claims to understand people's concerns over inflation, energy prices and the cost of living?
I bet they don't have to choose between heat and eat!

Not in the long run. Once he leaves politics, he will make far more on the public speaking circuit, particularly in the US.

Apparently, he’s already practising: the latest ‘No 11 newsletter’ is headlined ‘Do the math’.

There's no disputing that Sinak and his wife are extremely wealthy.

The evidence would strongly suggest that he has no empathy with nor understanding of those who are really struggling financially.

Whether there is any connection between the above, I couldn't possibly say. hmm

Sunak is the poorer partner in the marriage. Maybe he has to prove he's the more powerful. Speculation only - I have no idea what motivates him.

Someone said that you don’t judge an economy’s success by the amount of billionaires but by the level of poverty.

This economy is failing.

No problem with him being rich. Just have a problem about him doing nothing to help the poor in this country.

... exactly.

The rich can be rich - as long as they pay their taxes and, if in government, run it for the benefit of all, not just their wealthy counterparts.

Well said. I totally agree

I second This!

The level of poverty in this country is abysmal. And it's not because people are generally lazy, feckless, can't budget or any other of the myriad reasons sought to justify their poverty - it's because we can never satisfy the greed of the rich.

Greed, self-interest and individualism are now entrenched principles since Margaret Thatcher mandated these values. Boris Johnson and his chosen disciples are unsurprisingly the result of these ethics.

"Build Back Better" and "Levelling Up" are just empty slogans.

Around 11 million adults were to gain new qualifications at no cost to themselves... then behind the scenes, the Treasury pare back the funding.

We were to become a "global science superpower", but cuts in grants put thousands of jobs in peril, and the science budget into reverse.

Further education colleges - pledged £1.5 billion... with some colleges, already struggling, having to hand back £millions under the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s claw-back plans.

... the list is tediously longer than this.

Mantras, slogans, promises... and all the while the rich get richer and the rest of us stay where we are, or get poorer.
