Sue Gray will give Johnson the report today, for publication. Photos will also be published.

According to Downing Street, Johnson will make a statement, to the House after PMQ, then meet with the 1922 committee later, and then, finally, a press conference.

"Boris Johnson is bracing for the release of yet more Partygate pictures, this time from Downing Street's official photographers, as Sue Gray prepares to make the findings of her long-awaited report public today.

Mr Johnson is expected to apologise to Parliament, the public and his own MPs over Partygate in a bid to soak up criticism from the official report into the row later today, even with more snaps from No. 10's vanity photographers poised to hit the press.

Deploying a 'masochism strategy', the Prime Minister will 'take responsibility' for lockdown rule-breaking in Downing Street, which is set to be savaged in the much-anticipated report.

In a display of contrition, the PM will then make a statement to Parliament before holding a press conference and then addressing Tory MPs at a meeting of the backbench 1922 Committee."

The messengers, custodians, clerks, cleaners in Number 10 were among the nicest and most helpful people you could ever wish to work with. Only in a culture of privilege and snobbery would they be subject to the kind of thing revealed in Sue Gray report. This is all on him.

Johnson - civil servants went beyond the call of duty ?????.

And the doctors and nurses who would not have even given Friday drinks a thought

God Almighty!

FannyCornforth Wed 25-May-22 15:42:05

He sounds awful at the Press Conference.
He sounds like he’s going to cry or be sick.
Ridiculous man

Whitewavemark2 Wed 25-May-22 15:43:31

He is never going to resign is he? Neither are the spineless backbenchers going to force him out.

It is down to the voter.

We must ensure that we never get ourselves in this state ever again.

Boris Johnson still claiming he only went to leaving events. First, that’s a lie. The Sue Gray report makes that clear. Second, work events were not allowed any way. So he’s still lying.

FannyCornforth Wed 25-May-22 15:50:03

It’s utter madness
He’s talking utter nonsense
What must the rest of the world be thinking?

He’s just called the public ‘indignant’! confused

Whitewavemark2 Wed 25-May-22 15:54:42

Blimey he’s simply lying.

WORK EVENTS WERE NOT ALLOWED.

Urmstongran Wed 25-May-22 15:55:53

He is not going to resign.

OakDryad Wed 25-May-22 15:56:28

Can some one explain what he is delivering? He keeps saying he is delivering but I can't figure out what it is.

He has just said he is trying to put right the "years of wrong" in Northern Ireland? What??? The shambles of the NI Protocol is due to the wreckless of his Hard Brexit and an agrement that Lord Frost negotiatiated and agreed to.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 25-May-22 15:59:20

“He is already lying about what the report actually says. As he has lied at every stage. And his constant reference to ‘Sue’ is an attempt to present her as a colleague rather than someone who has passed a dreadful judgement upon him. Despicable.”

So, it was really important to say goodbye to work colleagues, with a hearty toast, but not to be allowed to say goodbye to loved ones who were dying.
The man’s a disgrace.

“A source at the Met. Police
says the reason why junior Downing Street staff got fined, while senior figures didn't is that the senior people failed to answer the questionnaire.
So non-cooperation gets you off.”

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-May-22 16:01:55

He will never resign, it really is down to the back benches to send in their letters to 1922 committee

Urmstongran Wed 25-May-22 16:04:17

He hasn’t thrown any of the civil servants under the bus (as some on here thought he would). He wouldn’t be drawn to ‘name names’. Some folk predicted he would ‘do anything to save his own skin’.

I think he’s got this year to do something about the economy, or N.I. Unless there’s some tangible evidence of progress, he’s toast. His backbenchers will take him down if they don’t feel the Tories have regained ground.

For Pete's sake, Urmstongran, he's had quite a lot of time already and done nothing but make things worse in Northern Ireland and taken a lot of credit for things that other people did (eg the vaccine rollout - didn't see him getting his hands on a syringe, did you?). How much lack of "tangible progress" do you need?

I think it is beneath contempt for the backbenchers to "take him down" only if they feel that their disgraceful party has not "regained ground" and not do it for the excellent reason that he is an international embarrassment, a liar and an all-round horrible apology for a human being. angry

He is not going to resign.

No, he isn't.

He allegedly told another minister that it would take a "flame thrower" to get him out.

This is what despots do. Cling on to power to the bitter end. Trump did the same. They both had / have such a belief in their entitlement and superiority, and neither Johnson nor Trump have the capacity for self-reflection. I thought Tony Blair was bad enough with his refusal to accept that the Iraq war had been a mistake, or to listen to those who opposed it, but Johnson has outclassed him in his stubborn attempt to dig in his heels.

But he will go ultimately - all dictators, despots and megalomaniacs do in the end. He thinks he's invincible, but he isn't. He'll try to pull something out of the hat to rally the faithful... but even they are deserting him.

I'm sure that he'll be reassured to know that he'll always be able to count on Ug.... and Nadine...

vegansrock Wed 25-May-22 16:33:27

Of course he won’t resign - he can utter hollow words like “ I take full responsibility “ but do nothing to demonstrate that except slag off others. We aren’t in a war and he is the one who has buggered up Northern Ireland so I’m sure the country can do without him. He’s not indispensable.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-May-22 17:32:34

I hope this is the first of many

Casdon Wed 25-May-22 17:42:19

It will take 54 letters of no confidence to trigger a leadership contest, and there are apparently between 45 and 50 now lodged, or so rumour has it.

MawtheMerrier Wed 25-May-22 17:48:10

Come on the rest.

Zonne Wed 25-May-22 17:50:36

I’ve just listened to the press conference. He actually said one reason he couldn’t resign is that he has to fix the legacy of Northern Ireland, which no other government has tried to tackle.

Mo Mowlam must be turning in her grave at the lying, arrogant creep.

Maybe he delivers Krispy Kremes to Number 10 as a side hustle. grin

Totally and utterly outrageous! It's also patronising to think that the public no nothing of history.
