He has announced he will be looking to be the next pm.

MrsKen33 Fri 08-Jul-22 17:18:08

Well! Fancy that.

MissAdventure Fri 08-Jul-22 17:18:47

grin

Luckygirl3 Fri 08-Jul-22 17:19:11

But he has broken the law ands should be disqualified from standing.

MissAdventure Fri 08-Jul-22 17:24:50

I thought his ultimate aim was to live elsewhere?

MerylStreep Fri 08-Jul-22 17:30:56

It was a fixed penalty notice. It will not show on a criminal record

There is also the little matter of his wife’s non-dom status, and his green card status.

His video talks of his family coming as immigrants and succeeding, but he is part of a government involved in the transportation of innocent men, women and children.

And there is the Russian connection - his father-in-law and Putin

Ilovecheese Fri 08-Jul-22 17:38:22

He doesn't stand a chance. His moment has come and gone.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 08-Jul-22 17:40:37

I am of the opinion, that all those who covered for Johnson’s lies over the years he has been PM, and all of course did so knowingly, should be excluded from the leadership contest, and they in turn lied to us.

MissAdventure Fri 08-Jul-22 17:43:47

I agree,
They all said as much in their resignation letters; how they had known what was going on, and covered for bojo.

BlueBelle Fri 08-Jul-22 17:44:42

Hopefully he ll join Johnson and the rest of the crew in a plane on the way to Rwanda ?

Pantglas2 Fri 08-Jul-22 17:47:43

I felt a teensy bit sorry for Rishi who ( apparently) wandered into the birthday party room on his way to another meeting. He wasn’t partaking of alcohol (he doesn’t drink) and didn’t stay…..is that more deserving of a fine than a beer and curry?

Riverwalk Fri 08-Jul-22 17:51:20

Well I suppose there's an advantage in having someone so rich, or at least a very rich wife, he wouldn't be on the make and cavorting with dodgy people for private gain, would he? hmm

Oldbat1 Fri 08-Jul-22 17:57:31

Not committed to this country. He was complicit in BJ lies. Non starter.

winterwhite Fri 08-Jul-22 18:04:24

It seems a new fashion to despise people for being wealthy. Surely we've given up camels and eyes of needles?

I think banning all who tacitly supported BJ in public could throw a baby or two out with the bathwater. Loyalty is also a virtue in its way, but leadership potential, brains, and freedom from personal scandal are ww need most.

maddyone Fri 08-Jul-22 18:06:43

I hope Rishi Sunak does not become our PM.

MaizieD Fri 08-Jul-22 18:09:22

He is small state (ready to sell off even more of the NHS) , low taxes, minimal regulation and, it looks very much like , austerity focussed.

He has absolutely no idea of how a national economy actually works and would be as much of an economic disaster as Johnson. *Sadly, this remark probably applies to all the contenders for the leadership. We'll be no better off than before.

Wealthy men with a poor grasp of how economies work are not good PM material... But, of course, people think that they must be really clever because they're rich.. so they'll vote for them hmm

(*Even more sadly, I don't think any of the parties have a real clue about how a national economy works, so we're doomed whatever happens grin )

DillytheGardener Fri 08-Jul-22 18:12:00

Colour me shocked he’s put his hat in the ring. He is corrupt as the rest of the cabinet of gothic horrors (My line up of hated horrors, Rishi, the haunted Victorian pencil, the cartoon villain Priti, Dopey (Raab) and the crazed Nadine…. ) I can’t imagine many voting for him in the next GE.

I think this too being fined for a minor event seems totally OTT
He must be keen to be PM he could have a much quieter life without all the hassle

Well yes it is more deserving of a fine when one event was in a full lockdown and the other was a legal gathering when there wasn’t a full lockdown. Simples.

Casdon Fri 08-Jul-22 18:15:49

I can’t see Rishi Sunak being the most likely successful candidate myself, I think the majority of Tory MPs will want to distance themselves from the current cabinet. My money is on two more populist choices being put to the local associations.

It's not about despising them, it's about the fact that they live in a completely different world from most of the population and don't have much understanding of how 'our' world works.

Setting aside that they have kept in power the most corrupt, mendacious and self serving PM for hundreds of years, everyone who supported BJ has allowed the country's constitution to be ripped apart and the powers of the sovereign parliament to be over ridden. This is not good for democracy.

maddyone Fri 08-Jul-22 18:26:15

I’m not much impressed with any of them.

timetogo2016 Fri 08-Jul-22 18:34:47

Same here maddyone.
I have a feeling Jacob Rees Mogg will try his luck.

MissAdventure Fri 08-Jul-22 18:36:12

I can't stand Mogg.
He would be my absolute least favourite candidate.
