Who is uneducated Miss Gobby ?
How did you vote and why today
Good Morning Friday 8th May 2026
Support and friendship for those whose lives have been affected by estrangement.
Voting. I’m so glad we still have the ‘old fashioned’ system…
Sir Graham Brady has just announced them. Wonder who will win? First voting tomorrow.
Who is uneducated Miss Gobby ?
All of the candidates are complicit in lies and supporting corruption. None of them are fit to lead the U.K. , but we will have to suffer yet another second rate incompetent.
How on earth did we get to this dreadful position?
If the punters are right the end vote will be between Sunak and Truss.
Both are complicit in supporting lies and corruption.
Sunak is both a poor performer and thin skinned, totally unable to deal with criticism. We know that his marital tax affairs are questionable and his green card status was a major issue. The economy which has been under his watch for the past 3 years has gone from bad to worse. Middle and poor income people are on average £8000 worse off than their comparable European counterparts. I think that this will definitely be a red flag for the Tory membership, because whilst they may be socially conservative, they are not when it comes to the economy. Like the rest of us they are feeling the pinch and are undoubtedly looking to the future.
Liz Truss - appears to have no policies whatsoever. Her main strength is speaking in cliche. She seems to have been attempting to model herself on Thatcher, but her character simply doesn’t show either the strength or determination that Thatcher had. Her record as the foreign secretary, has little to commend it. Truss promises to “cut tax” with no plan or policy in place it would seem that she is talking to the voter. Once again promising much but delivering chaos.
One of the most pressing issues facing the world is the environment, loss of nature and climate change.
Yet these 8 contenders have barely mentioned it; some are even back-tracking over past promises to reduce emissions by 2050. They're all banging on about tax cuts/no tax cuts.
Such short-termism fills me with a sense of hopelessness.
Angela Rayner, I imagine

Yes
It's a question of picking the one who is the least worthless really isn't it. I imagine a lot of people will struggle especially as whoever wins will lead the party into the next GE Surely even the most generous of tax cuts won't buy this lot another term in government.
I’m glad I’m not a Conservative party member because I’m totally unimpressed with them all. I couldn’t vote for any of them. Not impressed with Starmer either. How have we got to this point with such a motley crew to possibly lead us. Disillusioned!

Can’t wait for the autumn - we’ll all have lower taxes and the NHS, social care, police will all be given so much more support.
I know it's so exciting .... all our troubles felled in one blow!
But seriously, Liz Truss is a real lightweight and would be an embarrassment - we have had more than enough of that scenario.
Frankly, there is no-one there who floats my boat - but that is not surprising.
Liz Truss, lightweight? Who else can we rely on to sort out these cheese imports?
I’m seriously thinking about not voting next election. I’m absolutely sickened by them all. My own MP, Flick Drummond doesn’t even bother to answer letters when written to.

It is worth remembering that not everyone feels as you do, maddyone.
Obviously not Daisy, but I didn’t ask people to agree with me, I just put forward my own view.
And sadly I am disillusioned with politics.
I just heard on the radio that Nadim Zahawi says that if he is elected PM he would offer a cabinet post to Boris Johnson. Will this nightmare never end?
Its Tom for me, local MP near to me, friend says he is a good constituency MP, whether that would make him a good PM who knows.

At least he would have Johnson in his cabinet one would hope!
In my view, and despite his many faults and mistakes, I still think they have hounded out the best person for the job.
I fear the party may come to regret it.
JenniferEccles - I agree.

Vote for Zahawi and then Johnson can remain a security risk to the U.K. and milk more money from doners and the tax payer.

One definition of "politics" is activities aimed at improving someone's status or increasing power within an organization.
Perhaps if we just looked at how we run the country and not at the people who, with not a single moral between them, are attempting to gain authority, it will feel like a more useful activity.
How we govern and run the country is much more important than politicing. It is not something to duck out of.
Where the gutter-living current occupants of the government benches are concerned, "This too shall pass" although sadly, not quickly enough to save our country, but it will pass; then we will have to set about recovery.

The last 8 candidates are:
Braverman (Mary Workhouse)
Badenoch (Mary Wokehouse)
Truss (Mary Madhouse)
Sunak (Mary Poorhouse)
Tugendhat (Army Guardhouse)
Mordaunt (Lairy Alehouse)
Zahawi (Scary Shithouse)
and Hunt (Dopy Titmouse)
I think one of the saddest things about the past few years is what the Tory party has allowed itself to become. I am not a Tory voter, and I have rarely agreed with their policies, but I could at least respect the Parliamentary party as doing what they believed to be in the public interest, and having mainly serious-minded and politically knowledgeable ministers and office-holders.
I could equally respect, if not agree with, those who voted Tory.
How we moved from that to thinking culture wars are more important than poverty, and that facile remarks are a good substitute for intelligent debate, and that being on top of, and immersed in, one’s brief is a tedious irrelevancy that won’t serve as well as sycophancy?

But what would you have done with him if you were a Tory MP - he said himself that he wouldn't undergo a personality change?
Would you just leave him to continue with his many faults and mistakes?
A sad state of affairs if a philandering serial liar is as good as they can get!
If that's your biggest problem at the moment - lucky you.
Excuse me DaisyAnne. One can still make a light-hearted comment in a dire situation. My biggest problem is that politics is becoming a circus and I feel disenchanted and let down.
I think WWmk2 is right about the final two, and I mentioned earlier why I would choose the one over the other, although still not happy. Liz Truss says the wrong things at times, but she isn't gobby.
But actually the choice is not my problem!
