Sir Graham Brady has just announced them. Wonder who will win? First voting tomorrow.

lixy Tue 12-Jul-22 22:04:54

And does anyone at all actually have any time for Ms Dorries? She supported the biggest gamer of them all.

Urmstongran Tue 12-Jul-22 22:05:57

Not me, but I do believe what she said.

Charleygirl5 Tue 12-Jul-22 22:09:58

I cannot stand Jeremy Hunt or Rishi. The former destroyed the NHS and the latter should retire to is it Canada where he has dual citizenship?

LauraNorderr Tue 12-Jul-22 22:15:16

They don’t impress me much either Maddy. I wish just one would explain what they intend to do to ‘build back better’ while cutting taxes at the same time.
Why is it so bad to let the deficit increase a little so that we can improve our infrastructure. We won’t be saddling the next generation with debt if we encourage inward investment by make things better. I wish they’d discuss this.
Why do you like Liz Truss Maudi?

According to Marcus the psychic pig the new PM will be Suella Braverman.

We might be better with the pig. It sounds as if his IQ may be higher than the average contestant.

Blossoming Tue 12-Jul-22 23:05:46

Does anyone believe anything Mad Nads says? She’s unhinged.

MissAdventure Tue 12-Jul-22 23:11:10

I doubt all of them put in a bag and shook up would produce a decent person.

Joseanne Tue 12-Jul-22 23:48:50

Not sure about Liz Truss after hearing JRM and Dorries endorsing her, kiss of death perhaps.
I'm surprised JRM is supporting Liz Truss. He is such a stuffy person and she seems quite the opposite. She has made gaffes to be sure, but I think she is a hard worker who sticks to the task and shows resilience. I take her chances seriously.
I think Rishi is guaranteed a place in the final two, but I am not keen on him to win.

MissAdventure Tue 12-Jul-22 23:50:35

I read somewhere that Mordaunt is in top position of the favourites.

Baggytrazzas Wed 13-Jul-22 00:31:28

The names I'm familiar with are already either in my reject pile, because they either do not have the required experience or credibility or have already blotted their copybook, and as for the rest - who are they??

MissAdventure Wed 13-Jul-22 00:48:49

I've seen it suggested that Theresa May could be bought out, dusted off, and given a position such as chancellor (or something)

vegansrock Wed 13-Jul-22 07:18:59

Why is it that Smugg and Nads are now joined at the hip? ReadyforRish! saying that Johnson a marvellous person etc - sickening. The final 8 are all lightweights apart from Rish! and he’s tainted by his Johnson association, plus has a lot to be criticised for , not least that Rish! campaign. The final 2 will be Rish! vs A.N.Other.

BlueBelle Wed 13-Jul-22 07:27:47

8 runners and riders why not try Grand National tactics …whip ‘em all

Sparklefizz Wed 13-Jul-22 07:37:04

Rishi has been duplicitous (planning this since December) Liz Truss is far too lightweight, I don't forget Jeremy Hunt and the junior doctors, I liked Zahawi until his recent behaviour. He's not to be trusted.

I liked Ben Wallace but he's ruled himself out, so I go for Tom Tugendhat.

Joseanne Wed 13-Jul-22 07:37:20

What makes me laugh is that there were so many complaints on here about calling the PM by his Christian name, Boris, and now we are nearly all calling Sunak by his Christian name, Rishi! Is that an omen?

Riverwalk Wed 13-Jul-22 07:48:53

I just don't get it sometimes... what does anyone see in Liz Truss? To me she's a lightweight and gives the appearance of someone pretending to be a grown-up politician, yet she's been a party favourite for some time hmm

And Dorries yesterday in giving her support said she was a strong Brexiteer, yet Truss voted remain

I'm obviously not of a Tory mindset!

I think the name 'Boris' and always calling him that made him sound like a cuddly bear not the lying git that he is - so it rather softened the tone when referring to him, something like that.

Also, it was a leftover from his days as mayor of London, rather like Ken Livingstone you only had to say his first name when referring to anything political and everyone knew who you meant.

Maybe Rishi rolls off the tongue easier than Sunak, BTW as a Hindu it's his first name not Christian name!

Joseanne Wed 13-Jul-22 08:12:38

Oops, yes!

And there is another one "Kemi". You may be right it is to do with tone.

If that's your biggest problem at the moment - lucky you.

The only thing most of us can hope for is that this government is short-lived. Then we can all vote for what we hope will be best for the country, not the multifaceted coalition that is this farther right than ever "Conservative" Party.

Who on the fence Starmer and uneducated Miss Gobby.

DaisyAnne Wed 13-Jul-22 08:46:46

Maudi could you provide a translation, please? That makes no sense whatsoever. You have addressed me; however, I cannot reply until you let me know what you are trying to say. Correctly constructed sentences often help.

Maudi Wed 13-Jul-22 08:51:41

Your vision for the next party I presume you are a Labour supporter.

DaisyAnne Wed 13-Jul-22 09:03:30

No, I am not a Labour Party member or supporter. I'm am a supporter of democracy if that helps.

Maudi Wed 13-Jul-22 09:05:52

Sounds like you are a fence sitter ?

Charleygirl it’s the US that Sunak has a green card for.
