Dickens I was replying to a post which said Corbyn doesn’t lie, your need to correct a post should be addressed to the right
poster

Apologies.

Your post appeared directly under mine. And as you didn't put the name of the poster you were replying to - I assumed it was my comment.

Anniebach Sat 16-Jul-22 16:03:48

My error,sorry Dickens

It's OK - I should have looked at the previous posts. I can see the one you were referring to.

It would be better if GN had a 'nesting' reply system, where you can just respond to a comment by posting directly underneath it without having to indicate a name... and everyone can then see what posts they want to look at, or avoid, or if anyone else has commented on that same 'nest'.

Penny Mordaunt advocates the use of homeopathy on the NHS, in opposition to scientific evidence that it is ineffective.

Perhaps some people find homeopathy a help because of its placebo effect.
And Penny has frightened the Left, it seems...
Good post Annie1.

Good post Annie1.

At a time when the NHS is desperately struggling after a decade of tory underfunding it should most definitely be funding quack remedies that are proven to be ineffective. Whether or not they have a placebo effect is irrelevant.

It's not just Mordaunt who frightens me, the whole lot of them do. grin

Galaxy Sun 17-Jul-22 07:51:03

She frightens me because I think of all of them she reminds me the most of Johnson.

MaizieD Sun 17-Jul-22 07:51:41

Damn. Missed out an essential word
'The NHS should most definitely NOT be funding...'

Galaxy Sun 17-Jul-22 07:55:39

It worked without the not I thought. It was more pure sarcasm without it grin

Anniebach Sun 17-Jul-22 10:46:05

Mordaunt is frightening,

Charles has been lobbying ministers to get NHS to fund alternative medicine A book Charles the alternative prince

Anniebach Sun 17-Jul-22 12:12:31

Charles has been speaking out about homeopathy being funded for years

I love homeopathy, used it for very many years, nothing else, nothing allopathic. It also helped my horse a great deal

btw I just don`t like Mordaunt, she comes across as very shallow and as quite a bully with a loud forceful voice. A bit of a nasty piece really who will duck annd dive rather than do any work

HousePlantQueen Sun 17-Jul-22 13:12:05

Tugenhadt was refreshingly honest on Raworth programme this morning which probably means he will lose.

It used to be offered on the NHS until fairly recently but no longer.

I paid for homeopathic treatment for a DC with severe hay fever but it had no noticeable effect. Perhaps the practitioner wasn't very good but she did more talking than offering effective treatment although she did prescribe expensive remedies.

Casdon is right: I hope the Tories vote for the most inept candidate, then when this person makes an even worse mess of things than Boris has the electorate will recognise the new cabinet for the unprincipled bunch they will surely be and vote in the Labour Party, who don’t allow Russians to buy peerages, and who keep the true interests of working people in mind.

A day or two reading up on the theory of homeopathy
is very useful, because it can cure ailments that your GP can’t.
BUT remedies are non specific - there are several treatments for any ailment, so the correct one may not work first time.

The cost of self treatment is low and for routine ailments is worth trying

Sparklefizz Sun 17-Jul-22 20:05:18

I like homeopathy. It has helped me many times when conventional medicine has done nothing. I have kept what was excruciating arthritis pain in my hands and feet at bay with a homeopathic ointment rather than have steroid injections or take endless painkillers. I wasn't expecting it to work but it did.

Homeopathic remedies are cheap, so you were unlucky with your practitioner, Callistemon if she charged you a lot for them. But as with dentists or surgeons, there can be good and not-so-good practitioners.

varian Sun 17-Jul-22 20:16:26

Homeopathy is a "treatment" based on the use of highly diluted substances, which practitioners claim can cause the body to heal itself. A 2010 House of Commons Science and Technology Committee report on homeopathy said that homeopathic remedies perform no better than placebos (dummy treatments).

NHS website

The fact is that some people get better after taking placebos and some will get better after taking homeopathic treatments and some will get better without taking anything.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 17-Jul-22 22:44:15

Isn’t the Queen a fan of homeopathy? One of the two vets in my village uses homeopathic treatment on animals.

Katie59 Mon 18-Jul-22 06:07:09

The principle is the diluted substances that would have caused the symptoms cure the condition.

What seems to happen is that it switches your immune system on to effect a cure, it works on animals so it’s not placebo, its not possible to scientifically prove the medication so it doesn’t exist.

Very useful for the routine family conditions, aches, sprains, rashes, not serious illnesses.

Yes, she is and I think the Queen Mother was too.

We probably saw someone who fancied herself as a psychotherapist rather than offering much in the way of practical therapy.

Anniebach Mon 18-Jul-22 10:51:52

Make sure the homeopath is registered

Caleo Mon 18-Jul-22 12:17:07

Homeopathic principle is superfically like active immunisation against infectious diseases. I say "superficially" because unlike the effect of active immunisation, the effect of homeopathic treatment lacks statistical corroboration.
