I am not a messy person but...
Happy Birthday - 100 years on Earth
Well am not surprised.. Are you? Feel dismayed by the Cons and the awful skullduggery that has gone on..need a glass or 2..
??
Truss didn't want Johnson to go?(yet she's rushed to take his job!) So what she going to do then?- just carry out all his ideas & policies and carry on partying?Great just what we don't need.Let's hope, out of the 2 of them, that Sunak gets it then?

its like choosing which loo to use after a 3-day festival isn't it?
??indeed!
They are both Tories ...... both are awful ..... God forbid anything that looks like Margaret Thatcher - I think I might cry ..... Although I do wish the patriarchal Labour party would actually vote in a (real) woman leader. How can we be on the cusp of the THIRD woman Conservative leader and the Labour party hasn't even had one?? Disgraceful. Old fashioned. Misogynistic. I hope the Labour leadership feels ashamed and embarassed. I'm sure Kier Starmer is an honourable and determined Labour person, but we need a visionary, strong and feisty woman leader of the Labour party.
I'm depressed at the quality of our politicians of all major parties and given the state of the country I doubt we have much to look forward to with hope especially with the usual backwoods focus on tax cuts. Climate change and poverty/cost of living need immediate attention and it should not be either/or. And why are so many jobs unfilled when we have lots of immigrants stored in detention centres? Crazy.

Another woman would be bl**dy disastrous!(no offence- as i am a woman!) but when we've tried it, it has not worked!- the women we get in don't seem to have either any compassion (Thatcher) or any backbone (May) not like Scotlands Nicola Sturgeon.?
We've had two female PMs, and one First Minister, and how many men? How can you say that because you don't like three people all women would be disastrous?
i have just been reading the glasgow live newspaper online, it seems some mps have been charging there amazon prime account as expenses and one of them is liz truss, not going to look great for her, there is also at least 6 other from the tory, labour and snp parties. we are all trying to cut back, i am sure they could all afford to pay the £79 per year.
Truss sounds like a Dalek and doesn't allow others to finish their point. Her body language is awful and she is not very articulate. Sunak is slightly better but oh that dreadful video. As for bringing back Johnson.......
Yes, I fear Truss will be installed at No.10. But would I prefer Sunak? No!
PMQs will be interesting. Starmer will wipe the floor with her.
Can't stand Liz Truss. She talks alot of rubbish and is so self centred. None of the candidates are worthy to lead our country but Rishi is the most statesmanlike. Keir Starmer must be relishing the next election
Truss is devoid of any ideas of her own so if she wins she'd better find decent advisers.
Theresa May's advisers were useless and upset a lot of older voters with their ideas about social care. May knew this but was too weak to assert herself and say no to them.
I agree that Truss would be ideal for the Labour Party as she isn't remotely competent. Sunak may not be either but at least he knows how to sound competent!
Finally, however sincere some people on here may think Jeremy Corbyn was I think he was a mealy mouthed person. He obfuscated over Brexit when he knew he supported it and was an anti-semite too. His other left wing views made him completely unelectable and when BoJo stood as the candidate anyone supporting Brexit in a blue rosette would have been the winner.
This doesn't mean I like the current leader btw. He is deadly d-u-l-l (yawn).

If Truss is PM my guess is that Labour will win the next GE.
PMQs will be entertaining.I do hope so.
This is too, too depressing. If they can't win the next GE they may as well shut up shop. As an opposition they have been a complete disgrace. They need a new leader too.
Can you explain why they have been a disgrace?
They have been a disgrace because:
During the crises faced in the past two and a half years, they haven’t come up with one single idea of their own , just complained, complained, complained.
They have been a disparate by partying in a place which was neither their home or their place of work, but somehow that is ok.
They have been a disgrace by planning to ignore the majority and attempt to overturn Brexit.
They have been a disgrace by focussing on transgender crap that most of us couldn’t care less about.
They are a disgrace with no class - just look at Dodds, Rayner and Abbott for a start.
They are a disgrace because they bankrupted the country when last in power, but never accepted any responsibility, just complained about the necessary cuts to recover from their shambles.
God help the country if they ever get in.
COME BACK BORIS - a proper statesman, more intelligence than the lot of them put together.
I think the Tory party are in suicidal mode. Neither will appeal to the electorate.
I don’t like or want either of them. The rest of the parties aren’t any better. There aren’t any real quality politicians about in my opinion.
Most lawyers are a bit 'dull' but why would that matter if they are doing their job well. Surely a 'boring , diligent person as a P M would be an asset. I mean Starmer
The reality show leaders like Johnson and Trump have led us all downwards
^Truss says she was inspired to go into politics by seeing “lots of children let down day low educational standards”
She was born 1975. She was educated entirely under conservative governments from primary school to university. 1979 to 1996.^
Good point Lucca!

Keir Starmer has, in my opinion, got an amazing team of people around him. I can’t wait to see them in government. You only have to see Yvette Cooper run rings around them in committee meetings to compare the two parties. It was very clever of Keir to move Yvette from the front benches to the committees for a while ( imo). Wes Streeting, Peter Kyle, Yvette, Dan Jarvis are just a few of them. I wish Chris Leslie would come back into politics again as well. And Ed Miliband, now he’s spent a while on the back benches is showing why many of us felt he was a good choice as party leader. A bit like William Hague, he took on that position far too early. I often wonder what British politics would be like if David had become leader at the time. Alas, the party wanted to move more to the left with Ed and then, having made that mistake, then moved even further to the left. The rest, as they say, is ( political) history. imo
out the frying pan into the fire, it is either a rich man looking out for the rich or a female as bright as a 2 watt bulb.
Either way the average working man looking for a pay rise to match the rate of inflation is scr*wed
I'm seeing suggestions that if she gets to be PM Truss will offer Johnson a Cabinet post...

Well at least Rishi seems to like giving money away.....
.....Without the checks that are made on those poor families who are on benefits.
1. Sunak gave grants to the self employed but missed out about 3 million of them
2. The bounce back loans to businesses were made by the banks with insufficient checks on the borrowers because the loans were guaranteed by the govt.
3. The furlough scheme was deemed to be relatively successful - at an average cost of £5983 per job on furlough.
Overall the schemes looked good but there has been a massive amount of fraud:
1. SEISS grants for the self employed were based upon 3 years tax returns. However, it was possible for the fraudulent ones to inflate their income on the last tax return considered in order to obtain a higher grant. So a tax return filed by 31 January 2020 could be amended at any time before 31 January 2022. HMRC are looking at tax returns submitted before the deadline but changed at a later date.
2. It is estimated that £17 bn out of £42bn loans will not be repaid and that £4.7bn has been taken by fraudsters.
3. The estimate for furlough scheme fraud is £5.8bn
The other serious error Sunak has made is over the increased NI payments. These are directed at employees with no account being taken of either landlords or company directors. The former if they have no employment do not pay any NI at all (unless they make the voluntary contribution). The latter pa themselves a small salary from their company and take the rest of their "earnings" in
dividends. No NI on those. In my book that is seriously unfair.

Foreign Secretary?
?
My no 1 Bestie and I met whilst campaigning for the Tories in 1983. Today we agreed that we will never vote Conservative again.
They had a fighting chance with the competent Ms Mordaunt...so what did they do? Kick the party into certain oblivion!
Truss couldn't even find her way out of her press briefing. She doesn't stand an earthly, and UK is going to be stuck with another law breaker/liar.

Apparently astounding rumours doing the rounds that if correct it is going to get extremely personal and dirty!
