Not only is Sturgeon an attention seeker known as Elsie McSelfie in Scotland. She was elected by 31% of the population and enrolled the unelected greens Lorna Slater and Patrick Harvie to have majority seats at the Scottish assembly. In same assembly January 2018 she called leader of Lib dems an attention seeker. Her and her msps have had 15 years to make Scotland better and make their case for independence instead they have spent taxpayers money on failed projects including ferries for islanders still not built and costing 10X original estimate and did not follow industry guidlines of procuring a guarantee instead tax payers are liable. She gave Gupta a business man under investigation for fraud a guarantee of 50 million and handed him not only a business but land and an estate in Scotland for the princely payment of £5. So many of her SNP Mps and Mps have been exposed as sex pests yet not one has resigned or been sacked. Audit Scotland have reported they have been unable to account for 5 Billion pounds of covid relief. When anyone asks them for freedom of information requests or enquiries they use their majority to refuse but if forced to documents are heavily redacted. Every street in Glasgow is heavily potholed. They close services and cut bin collection times. Their handling of NHS and Drug deaths are criminal both totally devolved. Anything they are in charge of they fail at. Its all spin smoke mirrors and lies. The prospect of this SNP administration forming a goverment is terrifying to any Scot with any economic sense. Their talent pool is a puddle. Her husband Peter Murrell asked indy supporters to send money to their independence fund which they were told would be ring fenced 600k was raised but later both Sturgeon and Murrell claimed although it was gone and apparently had been woven through their accounts they claimed the same amount would be paid at a later date and yet 20 million pounds of tax payers money has been allocated to their indy fund. This is the slowest police Scotland investigation with no published outcome despite FOI requests. Ian Blackford their Westminster leader claimed a quarter of a million pounds in expenses during Covid?? Sturgeon has not published hers for 10 years despite being on record promising to do so. She is an attention seeker. This post hardly scratches the surface of Sturgeon and her SNP cabal.

Ignore Nicola Sturgeon. She’s just an attention seeker.
(355 Posts)GNHQ have commented on this thread. Read here.
So. The person who is likely to be our next Prime Minister told the party faithful at a hustings in Exeter that the best thing to do about Sturgeon is to ignore her. When told by the moderator that NS was democratically elected to her position, Truss said NS is just an attention seeker. Cue lots of excited clapping and cheering.
This is the woman who is meant to be our senior diplomat, who will be in the company of world leaders. NS was elected by 48% (or so) of the electorate of her country, Truss will inherit the job by getting the votes of something like 0.03% of the electorate. Ignore Sturgeon, you’re ignoring half the population of Scotland and telling them that you know better what’s good for them.
It’s the number one story up here but I don’t know how much its being reported in rUK.
Last week I called her a Welsh carrot. (You had to be there
) But it seems I over estimated her. She’s lost the place, as we say up here.

Callistamon 21 James started it all off long before 1707
No. No, he did not. There were two entirely separate nations until the Acts of Union.
It would be more accurate - but still wrong - to say that Cromwell did more to create the union, since it was during the Protectorate that the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland, and a single Westminster based Parliament came into being. It didn’t, of course, last.

Truss has belittled her old school which by all other accounts was a very good school. Listening to her now it makes me think what an amazingly good school it must have been for a person who appears to have such limited intelligence to get to Oxford University.
I guess she knows what the school was like and you don’t!. Did you go to Oxford or Cambridge, just wondering. I don’t think you get to go to Oxford or Cambridge to study PPE if you are of limited intelligence.

???
At one time she was on national BBC TV more than any other politician!
We were left shouting at the screen "And what about Wales!?"
I try my best for the sake of my blood pressure!
Ignore Nicola Sturgeon.
Well, the one thing you can say about Nicola Sturgeon - like her, love her or not - you can't ignore her ?

Great Britain is the largest island of the British Isles comprising the mainland areas of England, Scotland and Wales.
It is a geographic description of a large island off the northwest of the European continent. The second largest of the British Isles is the Island of Ireland.
This is nothing to do with politics or any claims to greatness.
Yes.
Great Britain (great meaning the largest island)
The British Isles
The United Kingdom
All different meanings.

And I’m certain many people in Scotland think NS is an attention seeker. We don’t take much notice of her down here.
NS is an elected first minister if the United Kingdom. With attitudes like yours and Liz Truss’s it doesn’t say much for the United part of the Kingdom. Is it any wonder independence is rumbling again up north?
I think most of us have an inkling of the history of the Union of the nations.
Sorry, this is Wiki but I think it's correct

People seem to forget that James the sixth of Scotland (James 1st in England) actually joined us up and turned us into the United Kingdom and created the god awful words 'Great Britain'. As far as I am concerned the sooner she gets what she wants the better. We wouldn't need to send them £6000 odd pounds per Scottish person per year either.
She should not be ignored and as Treetops05 says I know who I would ignore as well.

What a wonderful thread! I love the way the Scots here bang on every day about the way the UK government behaves. I do honestly wish that Scotland gets a referendum and that Volver and the other Scottish grans get their way and that Nicola rules the Scottish waves. It is wrong for the Scots to remain tied to another country that so many of you despise. I note only a few brave hearts had the courage to dissent but whoever was the Gran who called those who disagree of “limited intellect” is rather cheeky. Just like Lornnaorder ( forgive spelling) I am one of those who has a ballot paper but will not vote until close to the end of the period allowed. Who pays for another referendum? Being of limited intellect I do not know. And if Scotland wants to rejoin the EU does anyone know the approximate time it takes? All in all I guess that Scotland contributes more to the National Govt. than in receives under the Barnett formula so would be well able to manage without help from UK government. So my opinion ( of limited worth) as I was never able to complete the PhD. Is that if Scotland wants independence there is no good reason to deny that. There is no doubt that Scotland is a very beautiful country and when I visited with my family for two weeks the Scottish people I met were charming ( but we were tourists) and I ate the best fish and chips that I have ever tasted. Do we have to have these diatribes about Conservative governments? I smiled at the limited intellect of the person who said the Tories were responsible for the privatisation of the NHS. Tony Blair decided very sensibly that the way to get hips, knees and hearts mended was to use private medicine to help people on long waiting lists, so the use of private facilities to augment the NHS was a good solution. For those of us who have used European and Australian heath services, they were much better administered than the NHS. Just throwing money at the problems will not cure it.
Thank you for the entertainment. It was most enjoyable!

So do you just want Boris back?
I'm beginning to wonder ....
I’m not wondering at all. Liz Truss is the monkey, Boris is the organ grinder.
Hear, hear, Ladyleft
If Truss becomes PM, then we are doomed!

^In Scotland, there is free University education; whereas in England, students are saddled with debt for years. Why aren't English students protesting - why do they accept this as okay?^
Open University courses are also subsidised by the Scottish Government .
Here are screenshots of the charge for the same course, if it is taken in Scotland or England.
Yes, I’ve just completed six years of OU study to get a BA in Arts & Humanities (hurrah!). It’s only cost me a third of the English fees which I would not have been able to afford. Friends have commented that the ScottishGovt will have benefitted by helping me not to slide into dementia and needing care ;-D !!
My grandsons’ Scottish state primary and (newly built) high school seem to have similar pluses and minuses to my granddaughters’ Birmingham Schools. Austerity has meant problems if underfunding across the board
Just one useless Tory after another it seems.
Liz Truss may in fact aid Scotland’s road to independence by being utterly disrespectful to the views of Scottish people who elected the SNP. She is highlighting the lack of democracy shown by the Tories in refusing to allow a referendum. I have not always supported independence but I want some hope for the future of my children and grandchildren. It seems to me that the UK no longer provides that hope. We are governed by Tories who we generally don’t vote for and have overseen the disaster of Brexit, the corruption of Covid contracts, the increase of inequality and a lack of action on climate change. You don’t have to idolise the SNP or Nicola Sturgeon in order to believe that we could do a better job as a small independent country with plenty of resources if we were not tied to the policies generated by a band of elite politicians in Westminster.

Perhaps her father, who was a university professor, managed to pull strings?
He’s probably regretting it now if he did, I’m sure they have some extremely ‘interesting’ discussions about her current politics in their left wing household. I’d be mortified if she were my daughter.
