So. The person who is likely to be our next Prime Minister told the party faithful at a hustings in Exeter that the best thing to do about Sturgeon is to ignore her. When told by the moderator that NS was democratically elected to her position, Truss said NS is just an attention seeker. Cue lots of excited clapping and cheering.

This is the woman who is meant to be our senior diplomat, who will be in the company of world leaders. NS was elected by 48% (or so) of the electorate of her country, Truss will inherit the job by getting the votes of something like 0.03% of the electorate. Ignore Sturgeon, you’re ignoring half the population of Scotland and telling them that you know better what’s good for them.

It’s the number one story up here but I don’t know how much its being reported in rUK.

Last week I called her a Welsh carrot. (You had to be there wink) But it seems I over estimated her. She’s lost the place, as we say up here.

OK let's all repeat: Scottish independence and the SNP (and whoever is temporally its leader) are two different things. You may or may not like Nicola Sturgeon but that does not mean independence is a bad thing.

To be a Tory Member the age 15 qualifies ! god help us ! who would they vote for ? may be what tory daddy tells them to vote for ! I remember when I was 15 ! say no more !

She did a swift u turn when it was explained to her what it would mean - with a pathetic ‘My policy has been misrepresented…’ and apparently it is a policy which she will no longer pursue. As with so many ‘policies’ that she spouts without any thought of implementation. She just does not have the intellect or disposition to be PM

Look at how Nicola Sturgeon supports gender ideology and clinics that give untested hormone blockers to children. I think she is best ignored too. She doesn’t stand up for women. She does know what a woman is. She supports the TWareTW fiction of Stonewall. Truss was first minister to publicly oppose it. She’s right it’s a dangerous fallacious ideology which thankfully is being sent packing thanks to the bravery of Forstater and Bailey. Brave because trans activists are so vicious and frightening. You know those men who fight the so called cotton ceiling of getting into lesbians knickers. If lesbians say no to ‘ladydick’ they are transphobic. That kind of thing. Gender neutral toilets, girls and women need privacy and space from the male gaze. Truss vows to insist that schools and hospitals have single sex loos. And separate spaces for trans if necessary. Nicola won’t discuss any of this. Context is all. Truss is for the Union Sturgeon is not. It is not unreasonable that the future prime minister of the United Kingdom sticks up for the Union and is against it being broken up. Pretty obvious I’d say.

PleAse STOP we don’t all want Nicola sturgeon I wish people would stop and actually see what has she done . Stop saying all Scottish people want independence and am not in the minority as for the Scottish clown we have in Westminster if we hear him say I am talking on behalf of all Scottish people. No your not we don’t want this it’s been proven over and over again

Makes you wonder about Tory party members!

If you watch the whole interview, when the presenter asks the question "What is your plan to reverse that?", before she gets into her 'you can't get me I'm a child of the union' routine an audience member shouts out "Build a wall!" and is rewarded by laughter from the others.

suewoo Thu 04-Aug-22 11:42:12

Nicola just wants to be Queen. She has no interest in actually running the country - independence for her is a vanity project. Yes, i am 'elderly' (!!) does that mean my opinion doesn't count - that sounds just like Nicola talking. If the Scots want to leave the Union (and i am half Scots) then let them. See how they get on! At the moment their NHS is in chaos, drug-related deaths and crime are still on the increase - just let's leave them to it and see who comes out in a better position. Just try listening to Nicola on home issues - oh! you can't she just keeps banging on about Independence! You are the deluded ones if you follow her.

Truss was Johnson's choice for FS so she must be bonkers - what a dreadful and ludicrous situation we find ourselves in when the lessons of the past are not learned from.

Merrymary Thu 04-Aug-22 11:38:44

Even more repugnant was the chanting of 'Build the Wall' which followed Truss's undiplomatic statement!

Nannashirlz Thu 04-Aug-22 11:37:07

I don’t think any of them of them understand any of the ppl wants and needs no matter where we live in the country they all out of touch and are only saying what they think we want to hear maybe if they started to listen we might actually get somewhere. We all in this together and stronger as one

Typical Westminster imperialism. She makes BJ look like a top statesman, that's no mean feat.

paddyann54 Thu 04-Aug-22 11:30:42

Yes really Grayling she's very popular among the young

Liz Truss is showing that she is as toxic as Boris Johnson. It's quite scary the sort of people that conservatives think are suitable to run our country....

?

Exactly!

I'm beginning to think that Liz doesn't want to be PM!

I'm beginning to think even #ThickLizzy can't be so stupid and there's some plan behind it. I wouldn't put it past them to try to create Tory support for rolling back the devolution settlements (even further than they have already done with the repatriation of EU competences).

The hustings in NI is on Aug 17, I'm tempted to open a book on what she will say about Michelle O'Neill.

So now it's Mark Drakeford's turn. This evening she referred to him as a 'low-energy version of Jeremy Corbyn'.

The only surprise I felt was that they managed to even find 500 Tories in Wales to go to the hustings.
I don’t think Mark Drakeford will be raising a sweat somehow.

He didn't think much of Boris but always remained polite in public about him.

Watch this space .....

Same here in our house JaneJudge.

#ThickLizzy is trending on Twitter.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 03-Aug-22 19:24:37

Oldnproud -10.58- spot on. We know exactly what an attention seeker looks like: Ms Truss has been working with him for some time, but doesn't seem to have noticed. Perhaps she needs to go to Specsavers.

JaneJudge Wed 03-Aug-22 19:23:51

I haven't read all the posts/pages but we thought she was a complete idiot for saying/ doing this and we despair at the audience

we being our whole house ranging from late 60s to a teenager (all 7 of us)

Unfortunately Whitewavemark2 you are correct, and lots of good constituency MPs will be lost
