Poll: If there were a General Election tomorrow, which politic party would you vote for?" Labour lead of 10

Just that. I can only imagine that, if Truss carries out her promises to give tax cuts to the rich and ignore those struggling, the Labour party's lead would increase.

If she has been saying this to gain power, and we have another liar in office, I don't know how usually Tory voters will react. They seem to accept the most outrageous of lies so they may stick with her. There still seems to be a tranche of Trumpian style supporters sticking to Johnson; they may transfer allegiance (and all common sense) to Truss.

You can see the chart here

I would have to go Lib Dem

Iam64 Sat 03-Sept-22 08:59:25

I’m in a marginal. The Tory candidate beat our sitting Labour MP last time, his majority is 4,000. I’m a Labour voter and in this constituency couldn’t vote anything else.
I’d vote LibDem in a marginal Tory-liberal constituency. We need the tories out. Truss as PM - heaven help us

Lathyrus Sat 03-Sept-22 09:06:38

None of them.

Relying on the current Government being rubbish as the main reason for voting Labour isn’t a good enough. I’m afraid Labour doesn’t seem to have any positive strategy for government either.

Still too internally focused and doesn’t seem to realise that the majority of people aren’t party activists of any persuasion. Just people who want to get on with their lives and have a government that enables them to do that.

So nobody. Don’t want any of them. I could write why not the other parties but I’m guessing it’s the vote for Labour angle you’re really interested in.

Zonne Sat 03-Sept-22 09:09:44

I’d probably vote LibDem as they have the best hope of beating the Tories here.

Labour.

I would vote tactically, depending on my Constituency. It is absolutely primordial that we ensure we get the Cons out. In my Constituency, there is not chance that Labour would win, but a real possibility that Kib Dems will- so I'll vote Lib Dem.

BlueBelle Sat 03-Sept-22 09:26:43

Labour but if there was a strong Lib Dem candidate I d think carefully
I d vote for a sausage roll if it would get the Tories out

DaisyAnne Sat 03-Sept-22 09:29:25

I would be another tactical voter; once we understand our new constituency. I can only imagine it will be even more prone to Tory than the one I am in currently, as it will be more rural than it was previously. I don't think farmers are that happy with the government. I would guess, if they are going to swing, it would be to the LDs.

It will be a toss-up between LDs and Greens. I would rather vote LD but certainly would vote Green if needed.

Labour.

I'm in. red wall, previously rock solid Labour, constituency with a tory MP with a small majority.
Not much point in voting anything else.

RichmondPark1 Sat 03-Sept-22 09:38:58

I want to vote Labour, but I will vote for the party most likely to beat the Tories in my area.

I strongly disagree that Labour doesn’t seem to have any positive strategy for government either. For example Labour has a costed plan to deal with the energy crisis. More importantly they have the political will to help the ordinary person in the street which is more than can be said for the Conservative party.

Lovetopaint037 Sat 03-Sept-22 09:41:26

Probably Labour but vote tactically it would have to be LD as this is a Tory stronghold.

growstuff Sat 03-Sept-22 09:47:17

I live in a Tory stronghold too and I don't think there's much chance of my MP losing, although goodness why - she's useless. It would depend who the alternative candidates are. Neither Labour nor LibDem will spend much on fighting the seat. I would probably vote LibDem, as I have in nearly every election since I was 18.

Yes, that might be true but they’re not getting it over to most people. For me, for most people I talk to, they hardly exist. If you ask, what are Labour policies, ordinary people don’t know.

That’s what I mean about too internally focused. Solid Labour supporters might know and believe they are great policies. But Labour already has those votes. It’s the other votes like mine they need.

RichmondPark1 Sat 03-Sept-22 10:13:49

I agree Lathyrus they clearly need to spread the message far and wide that they have policies which will benefit the population at large.

biglouis Sat 03-Sept-22 10:20:32

Ive never voted labour in my life but I probably would this time around.

nanna8 Sat 03-Sept-22 10:27:03

I vote for our local bloke who happens to be liberal ( conservative). He is the only one who actually does anything, the opposition has such a low profile he is horizontal. If we got a good Labour person I would vote for them. Basically I don’t think a lot of any of them.

Wheniwasyourage Sat 03-Sept-22 10:28:49

This seat is Tory (not on account of my vote, I hasten to add) and the only realistic challenger is the SNP, who have had it before. I'll vote SNP, but as BlueBelle so nicely put it, I would vote for a sausage roll if it gets rid of the Tories. grin

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 03-Sept-22 10:29:41

I voted for labour under Tony Blair. Since the demise of Blair and Brown I have reverted to voting Conservative and expect to do so again as things currently stand, but we don’t yet know what any of the parties’ manifestos will look like, nor which personalities would be likely to form another government.

The pity of it is, the sausage roll would have my vote too?

Wheniwasyourage Sat 03-Sept-22 10:34:51

I want a Labour government, but a Labour candidate would have a sausage roll's chance under a steam roller here, so no point in wasting a vote.

Don't vote pasty! Vote sausage roll!!!
