We've all heard of the emperor's new clothes ( which only his besotted fans could see) but I've never heard of the emporer's wife wearing see through clothes which make her look like a hostess in a dubious nightclub.

I'm looking forward to seeing Truss showing her mettle and wish her well in these difficult chaotic times. I loved Carries dress, Liz dresses more in a leadership style, but what their clothes have to do with their political acumen is beyond me, are we living in 2022 or 1922

Didn’t anyone else think it odd to see the Queen in her skirt and cardigan combo, rather than her usual silk dress? I know that is probably her Balmoral holiday wear, I just thought it strange.

Previous MPs on resigning see the Queen at Buckingham Palace, Windsor on at least one occasion.

This time it was decided due to HM’s mobility problems that the outgoing and incoming PMs should travel to Balmoral.

Both Mr.Johnson and Ms.Truss took their spouses.

Some media sources are saying the dress was a deliberate choice the brand Harmur are renowned for the back view of their designs. It was a message from Carrie. I thought it was lovely and she does have a different style to the usual MPs wife

The Prime Minister and spouse are usually invited for a holiday to Balmoral in the summer recess so they have missed out this year.

One going out, another coming in, was there even an invitation to lunch this year?

Perhaps the Queen thought that two holidays in 6 weeks was quite enough and they didn't need another one

Many moons ago ladies were not allowed to show their ankles, always wore gloves (even whilst dining), thank heavens we have moved on.

The etiquette regarding what is appropriate when meeting the Queen, especially on official visits, is quite clear.

Yes, the dress is beautiful,yes she carried it very well. Not appropriate is clear. Anyone who has attended an official function with the Queen, and not even as the PM's spouse, will tell you that it is all made very clear in advance.

I am sure if the Palace had thought it was entirely inappropriate, somebody would have had a quiet word and handed her something to cover up or found her a safety pin!

HM would not in all probability have caught a glance of Carries back. Fashion and the clothes that we all wear is personal, I prefer not to judge as I would not like to be judged for my choice of clothing.

With all that is going on in the U.K. , aftermath of Mr.Johnson’s premiership along with the crystal ball gazing regarding Ms.Truss’s Government and policies, I have far more pressing things to ponder.
