The plotting to get shut of Truss of is already underway.
But the good news is that it could lead to a General Election

Here's Carrie's dress.

It's not see through on the model...
Perhaps Carrie didn't realise it would make her look like Princess Leia dressed for the delectation of Jabba the Hut...

I thought it was a beautiful dress but totally inappropriate for a visit to the Queen at Balmoral. I had assumed that she would change into something more formal. And I did think it was see through but hoped that I was imagining it.

I wondered if she was doing some sort of homage to Princess Di?? You know that photo when she was working with children and the engagement was announced.

^Many moons ago ladies were not allowed to show their ankles, always wore gloves (even whilst dining), thank heavens we have moved on.^

I'm sure that it's still not thought to be OK to be showing your knickers in public, though.

Why was Mrs J going to Balmoral, anyway? Is it usual for resigning PMs to be accompanied by their spouses when offering their resignation to the Queen?

It's apparently usual for both incoming and outgoing to be accompanied. They come in after the matter of State is dealt with for 10 minutes or so.

Won't the party have to go through the whole voting shenanigans again, if they want a change?

I think you are all in for a huge shock. Truss is just a stand in and someone else will step out of shadows. The government is in for a huge shake up. Just wait and see!

We might think that but what do you know that we don't?

There is always a party worth voting for, anything is better than what we have now

effalump Thu 08-Sept-22 15:40:18

I'd agree with a General Election if there were any parties worth voting for.

His friend Nadine will be able to give him handy tips from her time in the show.

Odd slashed for Johnson going on I’m a Celebrity this year. Please, no!

Actually though it’s the sort of populist thing he would do.

Lovetopaint037 Wed 07-Sept-22 22:47:53

Did you hear Rachel Johnson tell Nick Ferrari that Boris “likes to spread the love”? ?Well that is correct considering his philandering over the years. Still his departure allowed him to put on a show which is what he enjoys. He managed to drop in his usual classical reference which sounded like a promise or more realistically a warning that he would be putting down his plough and returning by public demand. To hear him you would never guess that he was forced to resign. His imagery of himself as a rocket is hilarious if it wasn’t so sad that some people are taken in by his lying rhetoric.

It certainly wouldn’t suit me nowadays!

Deedaa Wed 07-Sept-22 22:37:42

I thought the dress was awful. Hated the fussy style and all those acres of awful pink floaty stuff. Still the fact that it was see through and you could see her knickers was the icing on the cake. Such a good look for the ex PM's wife.

Damn! Sold out!

I wouldn't suit me (?) but I can see DD in it.

Didn’t anyone else think it odd to see the Queen in her skirt and cardigan combo, rather than her usual silk dress? I know that is probably her Balmoral holiday wear, I just thought it strange.

Didn’t you see the weather at Balmoral yesterday? grin

Perhaps she lent Carrie one of her cardies too.

"You look a bit chilly in that ensemble, dear. No vest? Here, borrow a cardie"

Barmeyoldbat Wed 07-Sept-22 20:32:40

Didn’t anyone notice before she stepped out and tell her there was a problem with her dress being see through

Yes, found it. Perhaps she thought it would be ok if it was a similar colour.

No, Carrie. Flesh coloured, dear.

Callistemon21 Wed 07-Sept-22 20:00:20

I must be looking at the weprong photo.

Someone should have told her to always wear flesh-coloured underwear under anything that might be see-through, including white or pale garments!
