It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

She hasn't really been well since she had covid, like lots of people I suppose.

That's what I've been thinking too.

Possibly if she hadn't had it we might have kept her for a bit longer.

OTOH, if it was cancer then I'm very glad she didn't linger.

But whatever it was, it seemed shockingly sudden.

She may not have been 'terminally ill'. I reckon she's been having mini strokes hence last minute cancellations from time to time. Then a major stroke carried her off peacefully. I've seen that happen so often.

Lady Colin Campbell has been saying for a while that the Queen’s illness was more serious than we were being told ( and I see no reason why we should be told, incidentally), but yesterday she said that she had been suffering from bone cancer.
I know a lot of people scoff at her, but she does seem to be ‘ in the know’.

Then Lady Colin Campbell has seriously overstepped the mark. Contemptible to such an extent that I wouldn't believe a word of it.

Why would anyone listen to Lady Colin Campbell?!
The moderator of the Church of Scotland stayed at Balmoral last weekend and said what good form she was in. He had dinner with her and lunch on Sunday. It was nice to hear that she'd been cheerful and entertaining until almost the end.
Very old people are frequently very thin. Lack of energy leads to lack of exercise and muscle wasting.

Yes. I was very relieved to read that she was in good form right up to her death. However it has shocked me, seeing so many photos of her on the media to see how much weight she has lost over the past couple of years.

Massive strokes do that. A blessing for her but awful for the family (and us!)

Remembering a poem read many years ago, I thought about one of the verses; the poem refers to a person's life dates - the day they are born, and the day they die, and that the significant matter is 'The Dash' - between those two dates.

'For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars...the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.'

It seemed a fitting tribute to a great lady, whose 'dash' was so well spent.

I will look again at the footage, Pantglas2 but I wasn't the only person to think so. Several of my friends noticed too. He put the first pen in his right pocket and the second the other side, I thought.

Just been looking at pictures of members of the RF viewing the floral tributes and cards outside Balmoral after attending a short church service.

Whatever we think of Andrew, he looked visibly upset, as did Eugenie and Zara Tindall.

JaneJudge Sat 10-Sept-22 16:36:45

It is his Mum, of course he's upset

Zara was visibly crying as she was walking along. I won’t lie it has upset me beyond reason really. It began with that picture of her at Balmoral before she met Luz Truss. She looked so frail, with her stick but still with her handbag over her arm. I knew then the end was near. God Bless her.

William, Kate, Harry and Meghan are together on tv viewing the flowers. Hopefully rifts will be healed.

Sara1954 Sat 10-Sept-22 17:39:30

I’ve been going about my day with the television on in the background, and I think I’ve been crying all day.
Just watching now, what an absolute security nightmare

I know, and I felt for him.

Luckygirl3 Sat 10-Sept-22 17:47:47

Security nightmare indeed - any of those bouquets could contain an explosive device.

Calendargirl Sat 10-Sept-22 17:47:48

Just said that William invited the Sussexes to join them on the flower viewing at Windsor.

I am so glad, it was lovely seeing them all together. I too hope rifts will be healed.

I thought Meghan was highly nervous and kept throwing her hair about.

merlotgran Sat 10-Sept-22 18:27:43

It’s a start but I don’t think Kate looked like she’s ready to forgive just yet.

Nice for Charles though.

Allsorts Sat 10-Sept-22 18:43:02

It turned my stomach seeing Meghan. She’s done and said so much that cannot be unsaid, that’s how she feels. I hope she doesn’t stay in this country, she caused the Queen much unhappiness.

I think a lot of stomach's were turned. The Crowd wasn't that enthusiastic. It was a short walk.
On the plus side, Grannies legacy might stave off the worst of their excesses in the future.

The cameras focused much more on the new Prince and Princess of Wales, not surprising really.

Catherine seemed very assured in her new role.

They all looked rather wary around each other though.

Kim19 Sat 10-Sept-22 18:57:47

Anyone know the exact date and timings of HM Queen's lying in state in St Giles Cathedral please?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 10-Sept-22 19:03:03

I agree Allsorts.

Iam64 Sat 10-Sept-22 19:21:15

No wonder Megan looked nervous. She can’t be unaware that she’s the subject of a lot of on line hatred.
It was good to see the four of them making an effort for the Her Majesty and King Charles.
The Queen out duty over petty issues. Let’s hope her dignity and decency can be displayed by others

People call me snide all the time on here.

How shall we describe some of these comments about the Duchess of Sussex?

I'm thinking "baseless" and "shameful". "Snide" doesn't even begin to cover it.

Maybe somebody can explain to this confused Republican. Now that she is Princess of Wales, what is Kate's new role? What are her new responsibilities? Although maybe start a new thread, as this is meant to be about our thoughts about the late Queen, not an excuse for having a go at the Duchess of Sussex.
