It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

I’m no Royalist and rarely comment on threads about the Royal family, but please, could this thread not disparage Meghan or anyone else in any way. It’s about the Queen and should remain that way imo.

Interestingly, there is 101 years between the birth of the Queens first PM and her last. Winston Churchill 1874,Liz Truss 1975. Extraordinary!

vegansrock Thu 08-Sept-22 17:44:16

Blimey turned on to watch pointless and there’s more mawkish speculation no news- why are they doing this? She could linger on for days or weeks if she’s not already deceased and we’re not being told. One way let us know or stop it now !

The Golden Age of Elizabeth I is often cited, but for me, this Queen’s reign cannot be bettered, and I speak as one with a Republican head, but a monarchist heart.
She truly radiates goodness, modesty and duty.
Like others, I’m surprised by my own emotions today.

For crying out loud leave Meghan and Harry alone they are all doing what they consider is right it is not the time for such vitriolic assumptions
Totally agree Jenn and very well put, some people just can’t manage any thread without nastiness and digs
No body know anything…. Harry loves his Gran, leave him alone

There aren't reports of the other grandchildren being on their way to Balmoral? I do hope they've all been given the opportunity to say goodbye. A sad time for the whole family.

I find the fact that all the announcers on TV are wearing black
BEFORE, the Queen's death has been announced.
Why ? I am afraid I find that quite disrespectful, WHEN and IF her demise is announced, should be the time to wear mourning clothes not before.

"Calendargirl", I too believe that the Queen died a few hours ago when Nazim whispered in Liz Truss's ear during Parliament. After that, all the family members were seen to be heading to Balmoral. I think they are all organising and arranging for the announcement. I feel very sad and tearful. It is the end of an era. So sad.

I'm not sure who you mean by Nazim, sorry.

The PM will be the first person in the Government to be told.

I was five when the King died. I couldn't understand why my mother was crying or why she took me up to the nearest phone box to phone her mother. This involved ringing her mother's next door neighbour who had a telephone (!!!) Then the neighbour had to fetch my grandmother so they could talk. After all this we had to get on a bus and actually go and see my grandmother. I never did really understand why all the fuss, but it was fun the following year when we were all dressing up at school for the coronation.

I think the next coronation will be much lower ket.

I remember her since she and He sister Margaret Rose were the Little Princesses known from newsreels , the BBC and pictures in newspapers and magazines

I agree. Unless someone is a fly on Meghan’s wall (or anyone’s wall) please leave them alone.

honeyrose Thu 08-Sept-22 18:02:46

I’ve only watched short bits of the BBC coverage about our ailing Queen, but I’m finding it all rather ghoulish. I’m not being at all disrespectful, but I don’t like this continual speculation. I’ve switched channels.

Hear hear.

NoddingGanGan Thu 08-Sept-22 18:15:33

Any sign of Anne? More concerned that she seems to be missing to be honest.

She was in Scotland anyway so was one of the first there.

Anniebach Thu 08-Sept-22 18:16:43

Anne was already at Balmoral

merlotgran Thu 08-Sept-22 18:17:00

Anne was already in Scotland so she’s there.

One report said she was already at Balmoral.

BlueBelle Thu 08-Sept-22 18:17:40

None of her family are travelling in black Surely they would if she was dead already

Jaberwok Thu 08-Sept-22 18:19:37

Yes Anne is at Balmoral, she arrived without any fuss as is her style. I'm perfectly happy to have wall to wall commentary, those who don't like it can always switch channels.

NoddingGanGan Thu 08-Sept-22 18:20:02

Thanks all, I came to this late and obviously missed that.

tanith Thu 08-Sept-22 18:20:03

They said earlier that Anne was already there. It’s very sad.
