VS if you are if the TWAW persuasion, which I understand that you are; the correct terminology is trans women, and not transwomen

Cool, thanks

Trans women are women

FannyCornforth Mon 03-Oct-22 16:15:59

Yes, Rosie, that’s my point exactly
The intersectionalists will argue that ‘trans women’ is as valid and truthful a phrase as ‘tall women’, ‘black women’ or, of course, ‘cis women’

Nope they have XY chromosomes which are MALE

Women have XX chromosomes

Rosie51 Mon 03-Oct-22 16:20:48

Yes Fanny there are those lovely racist TRAs who have actually tweeted that if black women are women then so are transwomen. The absolute blockheaded stupidity of their racism never ceases to astound and disgust me.

Now I prefer transwomen because that's a noun, if you use trans women (which is what TRAs prefer) then trans becomes an adjective to describe the women. I totally reject the concept that transwomen are just another kind of woman.

Me too, Rosie. I always use 'transwomen', for the same reason.

As for 'the clue is in the name' - that makes no sense. Names follow concepts, not the other way round. And even if that were not the case, simply saying something is the case won't make it so.

MargotLedbetter Mon 03-Oct-22 16:26:53

Transwomen are women, the clue is in the name

Okay, VS, I'll bite.

Define woman. Define trans woman. Explain why the two are the same.

Good article.

Female privacy, biological truth, even the sense of safety of girls – all now play a very distant second fiddle to the right of men to say ‘I’m a lady’ and to be treated as such. Mr Izzard’s right to feel like a woman takes precedence over real women’s right to live freely and privately. This is the trans ideology summed up – everything, the entire physical, social and scientific world, must be sacrificed to the therapeutic needs of men who think they’re women. Sure, drunk blokes of old knew a woman’s bathroom was a no-go zone – but today’s blokes drunk on their own narcissistic and lunatic vision of themselves as ‘women’ recognise no such physical boundaries

Rosie51 Mon 03-Oct-22 16:30:06

“Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”, is a law of propaganda often attributed to the Nazi Joseph Goebbels now whether the attribution is correct or not, it's certainly the method employed in hope by the TRAs. Donald Trump was an advocate of this method too.

FannyCornforth Mon 03-Oct-22 16:31:34

Yes, it’s Orwellian too.

VioletSky Mon 03-Oct-22 16:34:11

I'm not a TRA Rosie, no matter how many times I get called one but, just wondering why you equate being one to racists and if you think I am racist?

Because we really don't need any more confusion on this thread and I'm a big fan of sayingbwhat you actually mean instead of implying gross things

Allsorts Mon 03-Oct-22 16:35:02

VS trans women think they are women. However if they have male genitalia they are not. I’m genuinely sorry for the struggles people have stuck in the wrong body, but unless they have major surgery and chemicals, that’s how they will stay. Be kind to everyone, they cant help how they feel. No wonder how much you self identify you can’t fight nature, if it pleases tgem to dress as women, but use the male Loo.

VioletSky Mon 03-Oct-22 16:37:58

I don't even gasp follow Stonewall...

I'm quite capable of formulating my own opinions

Based on the evidence given by the medical community and science that gender dysphoria is real and people are somehow being born with the wrong type of genitals and unable to accept that...

I think saying, yes, you are a woman is just the polite, reasonable and easy thing to do.

If in anyone's mind that makes me a terrible person... Well... I'm not being nasty to others about my opinions so I think I am OK honestly

VioletSky Mon 03-Oct-22 16:41:06

If surgery and hormones carried no risks I'd say yes, changing your genitals is a reasonable requirement...

But I cannot in good conscience ask people to risk theor future health and even life to have surgery

So I don't really know what you expect me to do.

I could run around the Internet shouting you can't be yourself if you havebthe wrong chromosomes!!!111 but I fail to see who thatbwould help really

Galaxy Mon 03-Oct-22 16:41:19

I dont think that there is evidence that affirmation is the right thing particularly with regards to young people, I think there needs to be much more data gathering on that.

Can you read?

Rosie said that some TRAs said that horrible thing about black women. This makes them racists. The ones who said it. Not all TRAS, and more importantly not you. She did not call you racist. Or a TRA for that matter. Why do you always seem to assume that everything is about you?

VioletSky Mon 03-Oct-22 16:44:16

Fight for it then.

Do something

Help someone

Listen to someone

If you believe you are so right...

prove it

This is going from bad to worse.

Nobody expects you to do anything. Why on God's green earth would anyone expect you to ask people to get surgery? Why do you think they are doing that, and who are 'they'? Who is coming to you and asking your opinion on whether they should get surgery?

Feel free to run around the Internet shouting anything you like, but you're right that it would help nobody, and not has anyone asked you to. It would be entirely self-driven.

FannyCornforth Mon 03-Oct-22 16:48:54

I don’t believe that anyone is ‘born in the wrong body’
No body is ‘wrong’
This mind set is ridiculous.

If I have to listen to a man's opinion I would prefer it wasn't someone who denies there is racism in football (apparently it's a class war), who disagrees with same sex marriage, and thinks green policies are waging war on the working class. Oh and who called Greta Thunberg a "millenarian weirdo". Not the sort of man I choose to respect.

Why are you always so rude?

When context is missing, I ask

I could always just assume which would be dishonest now wouldn't it because inwould be changing the narrative to suit my own needs... not something I do but somethingbi have pointed out as a problem many times.

Gross.

Rosie51 Mon 03-Oct-22 16:54:48

VS not every comment on this thread is about you, there are other people in this world, some who chant the same mantra you love TWAW. I don't equate all TRAs with racists, but I have seen tweets that have said exactly what I posted, that if black women are considered women then it's the same for transwomen. No it isn't. Black women are women. If, as I assume, you haven't tweeted racial slurs then why would you think I was referring to you? I didn't imply anything about you. I do think your chant of TWAW is a lie because transwomen are male and women are female. Science, and eminent medics like Lord Robert Winston will back me on that.

I wonder are you planning to answer MargotLedbetter?

Doodledog Mon 03-Oct-22 16:54:55

Your respect is stretched thinly, Glorianny.

I can't disagree with your objections to the things you've attributed to the author of the article, but I suspect that many people take each article at face value. There will be some things that Liz Truss says that I will agree with, I dare say. I don't always disagree with you, either.

Whatever the author (I don't even know who he is without looking it up) feels about other topics doesn't alter my response to his views on Izzard - I think he's spot on there.

VioletSky Mon 03-Oct-22 16:55:15

No of course I can't Mollygo

Weirdly, I don't think my opinion all that important in the grand scheme of things

So I keep an open mind
