Some wagg commented that they should start a go fund me page to get to Geological Society to identify Rees Moggs back garden as the ideal place to start fracking. In fact I believe that Somerset does have some possibilities. The article is really shocking.

The deputy PM and others were seen physically pushing MPs into the voting lobby.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 19-Oct-22 20:36:25

According to FT chap 30 voted against the government and it will only take 40 to collapse the government, no wonder they physically forced people through, they were desperate.

Casdon Wed 19-Oct-22 20:42:16

Apparently 40 Tory MPs didn’t vote. No votes were recorded for Boris Johnson, Nadine Dorries, David Davis, Greg Clark, Sir Iain Duncan Smith, Kwasi Kwarteng, Theresa May, Wendy Morton, Alok Sharma, Priti Patel and Ben Wallace.

Casdon Wed 19-Oct-22 20:43:25

That was from Sky News

Johnson’s still in America making lots of money I believe..

And Liz Truss!!!

Chris Bryant has passed pictures on to the deputy speaker…

So Tories have 70+ majority but won the vote by 96, 40 Tories didn’t vote

How did they win the vote?

NotSpaghetti Wed 19-Oct-22 20:48:00

You couldn't make it up

Jason Stein, a special adviser to Liz Truss, is to face a formal investigation by the Propriety and Ethics Team, which is responsible for standards across government

Before joining Downing Street, Jason Stein used to work as a communications adviser to Prince Andrew

Something decidedly fishy about those numbers

Casdon Wed 19-Oct-22 20:59:24

If the 45 SNP MPs didn’t vote, as Paddyann said, the margin is probably correct. I’m more interested in which Tories didn’t vote, a lot of the big names didn’t, obviously not bullyable (is that a word?)

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Oct-22 21:02:41

If there is video evidence of bullying and manhandling as being suggested, will the vote be valid?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 19-Oct-22 22:15:48

Reading that the whips have u-turned on their resignations???

Luckygirl3 Wed 19-Oct-22 22:22:59

If they withdraw the whip from enough people then they will lose their majority. So let them go for it is what I say.

Lord of the Flies meets Hokey Cokey land.

Chris Bryant is saying he saw an MP -Alex Stafford physically forced into the lobby during the vote. He says Theresa Coffey and Jacob Rees Mogg were in the group but isn't certain who was the main person responsible. It is disgusting

Grantanow Thu 20-Oct-22 09:30:51

Total Tory fiasco last night on the vote on Labour's amendment to the fracking Bill. Chief Whip resigned and unresigned. Reports of bullying and physical violence. Total chaos. Brady must tell Truss to go. Unfortunately for the Tories Johnson got rid of some of the most able Tory MPs over Brexit otherwise there would have been some credible choices for Leader. Time for the wilderness methinks.

Now the idiots are deciding what disciplinary process should be carried out.

So taking away the whip or put into the naughty corner.

That of course will include the PM and chief whip as neither voted.

RichmondPark1 Thu 20-Oct-22 10:09:01

Johnson didn't vote either. Apparently he's in the Dominican Republic on holiday with his family.

And making money from his talks I believe. What do his constituents think about this?

RichmondPark1 Thu 20-Oct-22 10:17:46

I wonder if he's making use of the £115,000 p.a. he's able to claim as an ex PM?

Will they really remove the whip from Teresa May? Or Iain Duncan Smith? Or David Davies? Surely not. If they do it will just cause the divisions to grow wider sooner.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 20-Oct-22 10:28:54

One thing for sure the Labour Party showed a mastery of parliamentary procedure that the Tories seem to have no understanding, which resulted in yesterdays chaos.

NotSpaghetti Thu 20-Oct-22 14:37:56

Well it needs to go to the House of Lords next!
