I was prepared to ignore the coronation, but for Charles to insist that his now wife be crowned is beyond the pale in my opinion.
I realise there are a huge number of royalists on Gransnet but do any of you agree with me that she should not be crowned?

Anniebach

Was chairman of the Labour Party,

You’re surely not suggesting he was politically affiliated? Grany says they would not be so.

Thanks Volver dear.
So that’s one- President, born 1935. Good on him and those countries who don’t see age and poor beginnings as a barrier. Come on Grany. There must be more.

Plenty good presidents

His father was a carpenter

Iceland first email president

Joining The Firm? Camilla's ex-husband Andrew Parker-Bowles carries out a royal engagement on behalf of the Queen Consort as he represents her at a funeral...

well, there were three in his marriage aswell.

Lots of casualties in the mess created by Charles, Camilla and Diana.

Correction
The mess created by the Queen Mother and Ruth, Lady Fermoy, Diana’s grandmother

Truman's father was a farmer.

Zelensky's father was/is a university professor, his mother an engineer.

The President of Portugal's father was a doctor, I think.

Are there any HoS from the working classes?

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Mujica

Mollygo Wed 19-Oct-22 22:33:14

Yes and no Grany.
The yes bit is because I think one group want someone as HoS that others might not want, which is exactly how it is now.
Not convinced by your argument about why it wouldn’t be someone wealthy. Are there any HoS from the working classes?
Why would we have the changing of the guard if it’s part of tradition to do with the RF? Seems you are cherry picking the bits you like.

I can just imagine having to step outside to face people.
Cringeworthy, but well, they obviously have that "spark" between them.

Anniebach Wed 19-Oct-22 19:30:57

He had to carry out duties when it was released, must have been a nightmare facing everyone, so embarrassing

MissAdventure Wed 19-Oct-22 19:16:01

Again, it's down to our perception of the whole situation.
It's high time Charles and Camilla were left in peace, I think, regardless of what happened years ago.

I admire their bravery for withstanding the leak of "that" conversation.

I think I'd have gone into hiding! smile

Anniebach Wed 19-Oct-22 18:59:39

I doubt we will but I think the attacks on Charles and adoration of Diana so unfair

MissAdventure Wed 19-Oct-22 18:51:10

Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in the middle?
Who knows?

I doubt we ever will.

Anniebach Wed 19-Oct-22 18:48:47

For me the villain was Johnnie Spencer , you see a girl fooled by the man she married, I see a girl who would have done anything to please her father, her sister failed so she was next in line. I don’t think she loved Charles , she hated country life,
she was a city girl

Anniebach Wed 19-Oct-22 18:35:22

I doubt his wife thought that

MissAdventure Wed 19-Oct-22 18:33:02

I'm glad she knew what she considered to be real love.
Sad to think someone would have died without experiencing it.

Anniebach Wed 19-Oct-22 18:14:05

Barry Manakee was the greatest love I had

Followed by Hewitt, I loved him I adored him .

Not from the press but from her tapes

Much of what she said makes me feel nauseous

What sort of thing?

Sarah74 Wed 19-Oct-22 18:07:38

Diana knew what she was doing, she knew she had to keep herself tidy

She was only 19

MissAdventure Wed 19-Oct-22 18:00:02

I see nothing wrong with saying that.
She could have been much more graphic, I presume?

Anniebach Wed 19-Oct-22 17:58:27

She spoke of keeping herself tidy in her book not before the marriage.
