Just that - so far.

How, in the name of the wee man, has it come to this? The Conservative party was trusted with a considerable majority and so had the power to show that it can do good according to Conservative principles and policies. What did it do? Shredded any vestige of integrity with the behaviour of Johnson and his acolytes and shredded any vestige of competency by the decisions of Truss and her cronies. Blame Putin, the pandemic, the Bank of England, uncle Tom Cobbly and all but this country is in deep trouble. The Tories are so divided that they don't even bother to deny it any more..
Truss has gone. Send in the Clowns.

Perhaps Boris is boarding a plane for the UK ?

I'm SO nervous of whom the next leader will be. Perhaps couldn't be worse? Who knows? Not a single one springs to mind as even remotely desirable.

She’s damaged so many lives with her economic plans but will now get a £100,000 pension as an ex PM.

Liz Truss PM is gone in a 1-minute 30 seconds speech, symbolically surrounded by the fallen leaves of Autumn. Her tenure at N.10 was shorter than the campaign to elect her.
The issue is how to deal with the damage she has caused. Key candidates must be Rishi Sunak, Penny Mordaunt, Ben Wallace, and any other person who does move quickly enough. Sad day for Politics but my thoughts are with those living with the abject failure of Trussonomics.

What will this do to the markets?

After reading an earlier post I was hoping she had just missed out on this as she hasn’t been in office 60 days. I really hope she’s not entitled to it.

SKY is reporting that there has been a positive reaction on the markets since Ms.Truss’s resignation.

Does this now mean the triple lock commitment is up in the air again? She announced at PMQ yesterday she remained committed to the triple lock. She also declared yesterday she was a fighter not a quitter. That went well.

She possibly wanted to fight on but the powers behind her made the decision. Pretty grubby system all round methinks.

MayBee70 Thu 20-Oct-22 15:26:41

There was no remorse in her resignation speech.

Thanks for that. Let’s hope she doesn’t qualify then.

Oh dear. I'm having to laugh as I don't like the alternative. Did you see that lady on the television yesterday, talking from the Northeast.

She commented on losing the triple lock and the interviewer said, delightedly, that he could tell her Truss had just said we would get it. She wisely answered, "so what will they say tomorrow" or words to that effect. Poor lady.

Bad jokes are al over the place

What do Liz Truss and the Titanic have in common?

They both lost to an ice-berg.

I’ve just read that she will get that money…

That’s disappointing to hear MayBee70. It’s outrageous to think she qualifies for that huge allowance for life after just a few weeks in office.
