Talk about extraordinary moments in history.....

CatsCatsCats Thu 20-Oct-22 13:37:04

So, so pleased!

tanith Thu 20-Oct-22 13:37:41

No surprise there then

VB000 Thu 20-Oct-22 13:37:52

Hurrah! But what happens next??

dolphindaisy Thu 20-Oct-22 13:40:10

Future Politics Students will have a field writing their dissitation on 2022!

mokryna Thu 20-Oct-22 13:40:52

Oh my goodness, good.

Casdon Thu 20-Oct-22 13:43:32

The lettuce won.

Should say "field day"

Prentice Thu 20-Oct-22 13:47:39

I expect that Rishi Sunak will be the PM by next week.

Pittcity Thu 20-Oct-22 13:47:39

They need to install a revolving door at number 10!

Sparklefizz Thu 20-Oct-22 13:47:43

Thank God!
I could have written her farewell speech:

"I was voted in as Prime Minister at a time of great economic crisis .... and I made it worse."

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Oct-22 13:47:52

Jeremy Hunt has ruled himself out as PM

Charleygirl5 Thu 20-Oct-22 13:51:23

Such a pity she did not take him with her.

At least it will not take long to pack her overnight bag.

Surely we need a GE now or is each Conservative MP to be given a chance of being the boss?

CatsCatsCats Thu 20-Oct-22 13:51:42

Who decides the next PM? Surely not Conservative members again - they made such a wrong decision over the summer.

Hetty58 Thu 20-Oct-22 13:52:14

Wonderful - so pleased!

heath480 Thu 20-Oct-22 13:53:12

Yes and with a huge pay packet!!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 20-Oct-22 13:55:08

I hope they look very, very carefully at the potential candidates economic plans.

We can see what happens when they move to the right.

Doodledog Thu 20-Oct-22 13:55:48

What will happen now? Another leadership contest is the last thing we need. Please, let's have a GE.

Jaberwok Thu 20-Oct-22 13:56:40

I thought she sounded very dignified, and I actually feel sorry for her. Humiliation is horrible and her position was/is impossible but I tbought she dealt with it very competently. Who knows who will take her place, does it matter, no doubt they'll be gone by Christmas!

Mps are electing within a week. No party member involvement. Whoever elected has no mandate so ....???

Franbern Thu 20-Oct-22 13:57:51

Am thinking that Tories think that Democracy means giving every Tory front bencher their term as PM.

fairfraise Thu 20-Oct-22 14:00:41

I felt sorry for her. She kept it short and dignified. They haven't given her a chance.

Grantanow Thu 20-Oct-22 14:02:33

Good riddance - excellent news but it means her commitment to the triple lock on State pensions is worthless.

Urmstongran Thu 20-Oct-22 14:04:15

At least she didn’t blub like Theresa May. “... for the country I love”.

She held it together well, was factual about not being able to deliver on the manifesto she was elected on. She seemed quite composed really.

Who’s next up?

Well the MP’s will crown someone of their choice. Sunak’s up for it. Hunt not. Whoever is in will elect their own Cabinet so I imagine Coffey is out.

Sassanach512 Thu 20-Oct-22 14:05:52

So much for not being a quitter yesterday
