Talk about extraordinary moments in history.....

I didn't know that! GrannyGravy13

The financial markets are already very nervous of Johnson returning. If the Tories are stupid enough to elect him they will be responsible for increases in mortgage rates, a falling pound and pension fund risks. Sunak is the only economically literate candidate. The comment above about his lack of 'British blood' is totally racist and disgusting.

Mokeswife Sat 22-Oct-22 12:04:28

But please don't bring our status in the world any lower than it is by bringing Johnson back into power ?

Really fed up of hearing how Boris won a thumping majority in 2019. Anyone up against Jeremy Corbyn would have romped home! Amazing how people forget about why they got rid of him! Smacks of desperation!! We really do need a GE

The trouble with Sunak is that he has a nomdom wife, and if they're in Downing St the MSN will hound them till they're out. I think he has no idea of how ordinary people live

Mrs Sunak relinquished her nom dom status earlier this year

She was set up to fall...have none of you realized that? I feel so sorry for her actually. So many nasty things said about her on places like this. Armchair politicians...always happy to run people down but I never ever read the good points about anyone. Standing down and admitting in front of the whole world that she could not do the job she had been elected to do took an amazing amount of courage. She did it with humility....

Dearknees1 Sat 22-Oct-22 11:55:54

The Tories need years out of office as Labour has had to sort themselves out, decide what they stand for, get rid of the Old Etonians, find some new young talent. Not sure I’d vote for them even then but if they completely transformed themselves who knows?!

Dillonsgranma Sat 22-Oct-22 11:52:22

Come back Boris!

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 22-Oct-22 11:48:19

Boris is a family man? Tell that to his ex wife(s) and dumped - when- pregnant mistress.

Alison333 Sat 22-Oct-22 11:47:24

I am surprised that more publicity was given to the fact that Truss tried to impose her 'economic reforms' without consulting the Cabinet or the Bank of England. She was only the leader of the Conservative party, not the President of the UK!

Its obviously a good thing she has gone. But Boris is my choice because he is a family man, and will understand what families want. Mordaunt has no children. Sunak is the country's richest man but has not a drop of British blood.

???

Scottiebear Sat 22-Oct-22 11:38:43

Think it will be Sunak. But can't believe Boris is in the mix. Unbelievable.

Agree Jaberwok with your comments. Sadly she needed keep eye better on her chancellors ideas and not to have done what she did on her mini budget. It was absolutely ridiculous what she announced regarding the tax cuts etc. Anyway still feel sorry for her t b h. Hopefully we won’t have the party boy back in office!

GrammarGrandma Sat 22-Oct-22 11:17:37

I am not sorry for her. She brought it all on herself. But the Tory party at large were bonkers to vote for her; she was hopelessly overparted in that role. Johnson has flown back from his holiday to stand again. I just pray he doesn't get 100 MPs to back him. Though a part of me thinks let him be PM again, make another hash of it, be found guilty of lying of parliament and barred from the House of Commons and then we will get the GE that is so sorely needed.

Happygirl79 Fri 21-Oct-22 11:42:50

I'm so pleased she has been forced out. I don't believe for one moment that she would have resigned voluntarily for the good of the country.
She has trashed our economy and stands there without any sign of shame or sorrow

Daddima Fri 21-Oct-22 11:39:52

Didn't Truss make it to the last two because the MPs thought she'd lost against Sunak?

The whole thing is an absolute shambles.

GE should be held ASAP. But I won't hold my breath.

I agree with Oldandproud and GrannyGravy, but I think the party knew that the Little Englanders would never vote for a brown person, so put Truss up against Sunak, knowing she’d be a disaster ( but I think they underestimated just how disastrous), and then the ‘ You know, at least Boris…..etc,etc’, could start.

MaggsMcG Thu 20-Oct-22 18:51:43

Surely, we need a general election next year now. February if possible. It's getting ridiculous we're the laughingstock of the world at the moment. It's almost as farcical as Trump. I'm glad Jermey Hunt has ruled himself out. God alone knows who'll we'll get next. They can't really vote for Rishi Sunak surely; they didn't want him last time.

The Conservative party have destroyed this country in the last seven years.

In 2015 it was only Farage and the "fruitcakes" (as Cameron called them) in the Tory party that wanted to take the UK out of the EU. But as the fruitcakes became more threatening, backed by the vested interests of the tax dodging billionaire owners of the right wing press, leaving the EU suddenly became an issue.

Before the fraudulent referendum of 2016 the only foreign politicians who backed leave were the French Fascist Marine le Pen, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

The billionaire tax dodging owners of the right wing media were bedfellows with Vladimir Putin, said to be the richest man in the world.

Putin found the fruitcakes of the ERG "useful idiots" and although he has not dropped bombs on us, he has still been very effective at destroying the international reputation of the UK and our economy.

If I believed in conspiracy theories I might think that the last three months have been orchestrated by Conservative puppet masters

Liz Truss and Kwazi Kwarteng have been well and truly played, all part of the plan to make Mr.Johnson the saviour of the party. After all he did win an eighty seat majority.

??????????

I agree

It has felt like a conspiracy to me ever since Truss somehow made it into the last two leadership contenders.
How did that happen? I can honestly say that I have never met a single person who thought that she had leadership qualities, in fact no one who had a single good thing to say about her. Something about her ultimate election as leader felt very contrived!

Fleur20 Thu 20-Oct-22 17:43:20

Whats a few weeks of humiliation compared to £115,000 per year for life??
Please can I be PM... just for a day or two??... not asking too much am I?
Please please please!!!
