154 countries signed up to the UN COP summit and agreements were made concerning emissions. Less than 30 countries provided the requested data after the 12 month period.

It is about the carbon footprint of countries, looking for renewable energy along with urging us all to do our bit.

I have vowed not to fly in private jets or buy a gas guzzler.

They mean well, but preaching to others whilst not adhering to it themselves is definitely not a good look.

Perhaps it is a good idea for him not to go this time, as a new PM he will have much to do here.

For the record, Forbes.com contacted the COP26 organizing committee about the prospect of a virtual conference, to which came a succinct reply:

“While we continue to engage with partners virtually, there are practical difficulties in delivering an event with over 30,000 delegates through virtual channels.”

Mind you ... Scientific assessments have also confirmed that pledges made by governments at the 2015 COP held in Paris haven’t been met.
