BBC News - Buckingham Palace aide resigns over remarks to black charity boss
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63810468
Well at least the Palace took this incident seriously and didn't fob off Ms Fulani's complaint.

If we're relying on anecdotes about grandparents my grandmother would certainly tidy away my hair nicely and we're kind and accepting of all our friends from all their various backgrounds.

Lady Hussey reminds me of my paternal grandmother, who showed disdain for anybody she considered beneath her. I really disliked her, even as a child, and used to dread the annual visit, when I knew I would be made to hug and kiss her. No hug would ever heal anything. I would far rather I had never been made to engage with her.
The best think now would be for the apologists for racism to shut up and stop coming up with their ridiculous smears. I'm sure the Palace has made note and will be more careful in future whom it chooses to represent it.
What a extremely nasty little post. All you are bringing to the table is hate - yours.
The palace needs to be more careful who it invites ?

It's about time you listened to yourself, DaisyAnne. The hate you spit time and time again at some posters is quite shocking. Unbalanced, in fact...
You mean nobody who might be unimpressed by the "Royal aura" and might point out that they have been insulted while visiting?
Just the fans, like?

Presumably they want to invite a wide section of society - maybe they need to be more careful who they have on duty doing the rounds of chit-chat. About time staff and retainers were recruited from a more diverse background.
Hasn't Queen Camilla just recruited Lady Susan Hussey's daughter as one of her companions - one more privileged post handed to someone literally from the same stock!
Was Fulani invited specifically though? I'd heard that she took up an invitation that someone else couldn't.

Why wouldn't she have been? She's the head of a DV charity.
Are you sure it wasn't one of those lies the gullible seem to be lapping up?

The palace needs to be more careful who it invites ?
My dh said more or less that but in the context of security. If one person could get in on another’s invitation as has been suggested then what if it has been a terrorist? Surely they should vet people more thoroughly or at least know who is there.
Get that off Twitter too?
Or is that a Farage one?

The Palace needs to be more careful whom it gets to help out at events!
Interesting opinion from nana akua on the GB news Twitter.

I don't agree. Regardless of what has happened since, Ms Fulanis role and experience makes her very relevant to the event taking place! One may not agree with her methodology for addressing the issues that arose, but that does not lessen her relevance to that event!
What this incident does highlight, is a need for "the Palace" to consider how they move forward, the reasons this happened, the implications for their systems/staffing/training etc etc.
There are signs of a new approach, possibly recognition of a need to listen/look at/understand/learn in Charles and Camilla inviting Ms Fulani to the palace for a direct conversation with her about what happened. That direct engagement with issue rather than silence is a positive step forward. Royalist ir not I think that significant change should be acknowledged.
Is that the Nina Akua who retweeted the tweet saying how if we hadn't gifted the world the Industrial Revolution, 90% of the world would be in poverty? That Nina Akua?
She seems nice. Not superior at all.
Growstuff I totally agree. Racism aside, Ms Hussey came across as a very rude and condescending person.
Not exactly the sort of person that you want promoting your business (ie the Royal shebang)
Why not a name tag with your name and that of the organisation you represent? This happens at a lot of functions I’ve been to. The palace advisers could then have done a bit of homework as to who was who and greeted them accordingly.

But we've already been down this road. It was a very crowded, noisy room and Lady H may have been shouting to be heard and struggling to hear the reply. She was interested in Ms Fulani's heritage but couldn't get her to answer. Consequently, the two women misunderstood each other. One took offence and went shouting to the press, resulting in the other woman being 'cancelled' and a whole load of people arguing about something they cannot possibly judge because they weren't there.
Sorry for going down a familiar road Chesnut!
I haven’t read the full thread, but I’m still not sure if Hussey was a good choice public relations wise.
I’m not particularly a fan of Ms Fulani either. It’s all a thoroughly nasty and rather fishy business.
Do we know anything about how the conversation was ‘recorded’?
Apologies if I’m not up to speed

Nobody went shouting to the press though, did they?
So there's something you got wrong. What else have you got wrong?
This thread has really opened my eyes to the way some will believe anything they read, if it reinforces their preconceptions about the "other". People who aren't grateful enough. People who don't kowtow to the posh folks.
The way that some will believe any old tosh because somebody on GBNews or the Daily Mail says it, so it must be true. It's how the UK ended up where we are today.

All these nonsense incidents will just make people wary of each other and less likely to engage. Is that what you want, volver and GagaJo?
Apparently, yes.

Nobody. Recorded. The. Conversation.
Except maybe with a pen and ink.
Not recorded, just from memory, and as we know 'recollections may vary'. I very much doubt anything could be recorded in such a noisy room.
