Prince Harry has sensationally accused Camilla of plotting to marry Charles, take the Crown and of leaking stories to the press in his bombshell memoir, MailOnline can reveal today.

In an extraordinary passage in his explosive autobiography, titled Spare, the Duke of Sussex writes: 'Shortly after our private meetings with her, she began to develop her long-term strategy, a campaign directed at marriage and with time, the Crown (with the blessing of our father, we supposed).

'News stories started appearing in all the newspapers about her conversations with Willy, stories which recounted lots of small details, none of which came from my brother, of course.'

Am reading ‘THE book’.

On page 296, M is in the process of meeting Charles and Camilla for the first time. I quote;

“The conversation was easy, all four of us talking at once, but then Pa and Meg fell into a quiet chat, and I turned to Camilla, who seemed keener on eavesdropping than talking to her stepson, but, alas, she was stuck with me”.

Oh, poor Harry! sad But how many of us on here could truthfully say if we were in Camilla’s place, of course we would be earwigging on what the new girlfriend was saying to DH, and what she was like?

How annoying, having to listen to H waffling on. Bet Camilla wanted to say “Oh, shut up Harry, I’m more interested in what this new girlfriend is talking about!”

NorahPH was not a pauper, he has a private fortune of a 10s of millions. he had inherited money from his great grandmother and his mother and has since inherited sums form his grandmother and grandfather as well.

He had more than enough for him to buy a pleasant house for his family and to keep them in modest comfort, particularly as he could be reasonably confident that his father would still support him from his private funds.

Other heirs and spares from other royal fmilies have done what he has done in recent years, without feeling that they can only leave home if they can live in the lap of luxury.

He could work in the security industry, he has 10 years army experience, or as a helicopter pilot, and his wife, we understand, was a promising actress.

The only thing I can work out from all the gossip of Harry's book is that he requires money to support his family (security, home, utilities, and all). He has no marketable skills other than talk, I gather.

Do wonder why he didn't leave out the 'kills' and security details.

The Harry threads have all gone quiet on GN apart from this one.
Is everyone busy reading The Book?

🤫

No I'm not reading it.
I was reading MN and despairing of the stupidity of H! Then working...

Ditto MOnica I can't stand seeing his face everywhere.

M0nica Wed 11-Jan-23 08:26:51

If someone gave me the book, it would go straight into the charity shop bag. I wouldn't even be tempted to have a quick peek.

😲🐕

I do know some lovely Harrys (Harries?) 🙂

Joseanne Tue 10-Jan-23 23:04:34

I can't keep up with it anymore.
Even my dog doesn't wear me out that much, and he is always looking for the next diversion tactic.
(By the way, he is ginger and of the same name!) 🐕

Great choice Callistemon. I’m having morning coffee whilst Grandad has taken the grandchildren to the park before lunch.
Sleep well.

And you.
Enjoy the summer!

No book here either. I'm just playing some crazy game on my phone

Spare Harry has had his moment. Hopefully now he'll be able to concentrate on the future

Even if I wanted to read the book, and I have no desire to do so, I wouldn’t put my money into the pocket of an already rich and over entitled whinge bag.

Not me Callistemon. I’ve got better things to do and I’m pretty sure most other Gransnetters have too.

😄
I am off to bed to read a mystery set in Australia.

You underestimate the other women involved, Kate was under no illusions what royal life meant, she embraced that, others put her in the position to win him. Money and status are powerful motives, all she had to do was to convince William she was the perfect partner, he could have rejected her but what was on offer was just too appealing.

Not exactly an arranged marriage but close.

You have proof?

Not exactly an arranged marriage but close.

How do you arrive at this? What grounds for believing this?

Camilla didn’t want to marry Charles when they were young, she was besotted with Andrew Parker Bowles

Quokka Tue 10-Jan-23 20:38:00

Who cares? Fed up of the lot of them. The French had the right idea in 1789.

Iam64 Tue 10-Jan-23 20:37:14

It’s likely Harry put his use of drugs/alcohol excesses out there because he knew others would do so. He must be aware the tabloids have all kinds of stuff they could use
Same goes for William - well perhaps nit the same but different scandals they have and can use to intimidate
It all makes Happy Valley rather tame

Totally agree Paddyann! And those that think she's controlling Harry. He's a 37 year old man!

Indeed, appears no control ever - who would have allowed excess drinking, drugging, sexing behind pubs - no person in control of Harry's life.

Well, I don't know about you Norah, but a lot of people have indulged in those sorts of things in their youth. I did.

So why did Harry think any of us would be in the slightest bit interested?

I didn't, my parents had rules, and I married at just over 16.

I surely agree - not my children - not my need to know.

I have no interest in any other person revealing details of their sex, drug, drinking life. Nor the frostbite bit, and particularly not the "kills".
