The shelves in our local shops were full of the book it’s not being purchased around where I live.

No restocking going on then confused.

Callistemon21 Wed 11-Jan-23 12:33:01

They are mostly over-priced in the first place.

TerriBull Wed 11-Jan-23 12:31:24

I think to be fair many books go on sale half price, I bought The Ink Black Heart half price, I'm hoping the new Elly Griffiths will be half price. Talking of which someone posted recently that they were no 350 something in line for that at her library as opposed to number 15 upthread for Spare.

winterwhite Wed 11-Jan-23 12:23:12

I can't make out why in some shops it's piled high at half price on publication day. I thought things had to be on sale at full price for a period before that was allowed.

Callistemon21 Wed 11-Jan-23 12:22:38

😂😂😂

And, as my friend would say, 'ow much??? 😲

nanna8 Wed 11-Jan-23 12:20:11

Non fiction ? I thought it was fiction. Oh dear.

Callistemon21 Wed 11-Jan-23 12:15:52

Would I read it if I was offered £1million to read and review it?

Yes, I have principles but 😂😂😂
Anyway, I'd be given it free.

It’s always been half price on Amazon.
You’d be daft to pay 28 quid

Oh, and why are you laughing at non-fiction?

Because some people regard it as fiction.

Quite a lot of people I bet!

It showed the piles of his book in a London bookshop yesterday, every copy was marked half price already.😁

I’ll probably read it.
Not yet though. I’m all Harried out.

(Yes, yes. I’m fully aware that I’m still commenting on the umpteen threads on here.
I’m a hypocrite with too much time in my hands smile)

I’ll get it on kindle

Ha ha! So will a lot of folk I think.

It’ll be a bit the Diana book in the nineties when people swore blind their copy was from a charity shop. 🤔

My explanation was my book club sent it out by mistake. 😂

Smileless2012 Wed 11-Jan-23 11:36:04

hmm maybe someone should have told her it's H's truth which appears to not be the same in all instances as 'the truth' Candelle.

crazyH Wed 11-Jan-23 11:34:11

I ordered one from Waterstones, for my friend in Australia. I hope she has received it.😂

Glorianny Wed 11-Jan-23 11:31:11

Haven't brought it, won't read it, but I understand there are loads of people who are doing this and it will be a best seller.

Thinking about the "my children would never write their life story and upset me and the family" I have an awful feeling that offered a multi-million pound deal my children would!! grin
As long as they help out with my care home fees that's OK

Candelle Wed 11-Jan-23 11:29:47

I just saw a woman speaking to a camera crew* who, when asked why she was buying the book, explained that it was because she wanted to read 'the truth'. Eh, what?!

* It popped up in the extremely annoying Gransnet videos.

Jo I imagine that it will be book of the decade.
It’s been a publishing sensation, whatever one’s views are re Harry

Probably. Which as an English teacher I think is sad. Will still read it though. I read Diana's.

Smileless2012 Wed 11-Jan-23 11:19:01

I could be wrong Fanny (fingers crossed) but I think he's supposed to be writing two more, and M will be writing one.

I spend a lot of time in January and February spring cleaning as it’s a quiet time work wise and it means I can spend more time in the garden in the Spring/Summer.
I liste; to audio books as I’m working, I’m currently near the end of Tom Bowers book on Meghan and have got Spare next.
They were on a free trial so they were free.
I would not have paid for them!

I doubt it's flying off anyone's shelves.
Yesterday; book shops were opening at midnight. Shops in London had queues of 1. Breakfast TV had a reporter and saw 3 customers in 2 hours.

I imagine most people will have ordered the book from Amazon .

Can't wait for the interest die down. I actually dreamt of Harry . More of a nightmare

I imagine most people will have ordered the book from Amazon.

I ordered some Kindle books yesterday and Harry's book was £14.99 for the Kindle version 😲

No, I didn't buy it 🙂

I hope it will be the book of the year if he makes enough money out of it, he may not feel the need to 'write' his next two books and will finally shut up and leave his family in peace.

Two more books? Good grief!
I thought it was just one.
I thought that it was a four book deal for the pair of them - two of Meghan’s (including The Bench)
and two for Harry.
