It has been suggested by a forensics expert that the police investigation has been a shambles (I think that is the word he used).

I think it is possible that foul play has occurred. Just have a feeling.

Meanwhile, police have called in extra divers to assist in the desperate search for Nicola Bulley - after police reportedly initially turned down specialist assistance despite the family's pleas.

Peter Faulding, a world-renowned forensics expert and founder of private search and rescue organisation Specialist Group International, initially said Lancashire Police had refused his offer of specialist divers and equipment to aid in the search.

But in a subsequent statement, he confirmed his expert team has left Surrey this evening to join police in the search for the missing mother from Monday morning.

He said: 'I have just had a long call with the Lancashire Police search adviser to discuss the search for Nicola. We will work closely with the police search teams who are working long hours to find Nicola.

'The team are leaving shortly from our base in Dorking on route to Lancashire to start tomorrow morning.'

Thank you Lemsip for posting the above. I did read something similar but then lost it. I hope this is resolved soon. Thoughts with the family.

The news item on TV this morning I thought seemed to suggest the family had asked the diving team to help but I won’t swear to it as I wasn’t there for the whole item

Having seen the interview taking place on the grassy bank by the river in this news item I was surprised at how deep and steep the bank to the river looked with sheep climbing up the side although that may not have been the exact spot of course

I read the newspaper report too about what this forensic expert is saying,he did say that when something similar had happened once before,the person's dog was found on the riverbank screaming at the river

Also why was the dog running backwards and forwards to the gate .and nothing mentioned since about the client she was supposed to be seeing that morning

I don't believe anyone should have earplugs with music or anything else playing whilst out and about. Whether in the street or the countryside you should be aware of your surroundings.

I agree Chestnut. It’s so dangerous to be unaware of the presence of others or of traffic coming up behind you.

Some years ago a friend of mine was out walking, mid afternoon, with ear plugs and hood up when she was approached from behind by a man who made his intention of assault very clear.
She was saved by a family suddenly appearing almost by magic.
The man played games then for several months, admitting his guilt, then changing his story, then back again.
My friend lived in terror fearing having to go to court and facing him.
The case was eventually dropped.
It scared all her friends including me to never walk alone again.
My thoughts go to that poor family waiting and hoping for news.

Earplugs are VERY common, everyone in their own little world it should be outlawed.

Even my humble dog, once upon a time, if ordered to sit by someone, would sit.

Well good luck with that. How do you propose to ban them when millions of people are walking and cycling around like that every day and can remove the ear plugs at a moment's notice.

I think the police have taken it seriously. This is a strange case. It’s assumed Nicola fell in the river, she could have been taken. Doubt very much Nicola would have taken chances, is she was going in the river, she would have told the person she was speaking to.
So sorry for her family, hood with all my heart they find her.

This morning there was an item in the paper saying that recently a woman had fallen into about six feet of water, and her body had been swept fifteen miles downriver in just a couple of days. However strong a swimmer, if you have padded clothing and your boots fill with water, then great strength would be needed to swim or climb out. Poor lady - I so hope she is found safe.

There is one theory that hasn't been discussed but let's wait and see if anything comes of this new high-tech river search. I won't go speculating unless there is no other option.
