Sometimes I'm really relieved that my kids and grandchildren are adults.🙄

Who thought this was a good idea?

Grantanow

I'm beginning to think this is all another dead cat diversion whipped up by the Daily Wail to take the focus off the many failings of the Tories, just like the Illegal Immigration Bill, stop the boats, sack Linneker, etc.

I didn't read about it in the Mail. I've just checked and its a story run by many media outlets.

If in doubt, blame The Daily Mail. hmm

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 10-Mar-23 13:35:19

Grantanow is really into dead cats today. She sees them here, she sees them there …

FannyCornforth Fri 10-Mar-23 13:36:58

Yes Shep, it hasn’t gone unnoticed! ☠️ 🐱

I don't like the 'dead cat' expression. Disrespectful to our feline friends.

FannyCornforth Fri 10-Mar-23 14:17:10

Here here.
What is it with dead animals and political rhetoric?
(Usually used by the left to those on the right)
Dead cats; gammon; red meat

eazybee Fri 10-Mar-23 14:21:45

It is just an expression used by those who lack the vocabulary to express themselves clearly.

GagaJo Fri 10-Mar-23 14:43:03

Figurative language.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 10-Mar-23 14:53:16

An unpleasant expression.

Spat my tea reading this

Mollygo Fri 10-Mar-23 16:25:09

But are we VS to criticise someone’s predilection for expired felines?
Though the term seems to be applied on so many threads by Grantanow.

VioletSky Fri 10-Mar-23 16:27:23

I'm Violet

Which bit Violet?
(And isn’t that a bit of a Mumsnet cliche?)

I am off to donate to the local cat charity hopefully they can help some of these poor kitties and prevent their early demise.🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛

Good for you GG13. 'Dead cat' makes me cringe. No more feline fatality.

Delila Fri 10-Mar-23 17:16:33

If nothing else, whilst not understanding what was going on, I imagine the babies present experienced a change in the behaviour of their mothers, and that would be rather disturbing for them.

Thanks for the link janejudge - very interesting.

Regarding Danny la Rue - to say that wasn't "sexualised" I know you're wrong. The stage show certainly was. I remember it pretty clearly! shock

Maggiemaybe Fri 10-Mar-23 18:04:52

And isn’t that a bit of a Mumsnet cliche?

Aren’t we allowed to use cliches on GN then? I haven’t seen that in the guidelines. hmm

VioletSky Fri 10-Mar-23 18:27:26

It's not a cliche for people who laugh a lot and are usually tea adjacent

Its a reality

Mollygo Fri 10-Mar-23 18:36:46

It might be a Mumsnet cliché familiar to those who have the time to post on MN or who like to spit in their tea. Who knows?

VioletSky Fri 10-Mar-23 18:38:49

PSA

No kitties were harmed by comments on this thread

I think I posted that link last week but when I read it I understood how it was similar to what we are discussing here. I also know what Grayson Perry says about when he dresses up as his alter ego but he has always been honest and straight about it.
