Johnson and Trump

We all know that the privileges committee is to interview Johnson on Wednesday, and I find it very alarming that, just like Trump and his supporters, Johnson and his supporters are trying to undermine the democratic process of the privileges committee claiming that it is Labour lead.

Not true of course, - yes Harriet Harmon a parliamentary grandee and Labour is chairing the committee, but it is actually weighted in the Tories favour.

Yes, you are right - there were 70 Million “dimwits” that voted for Trump in 2020.

Plain and simple - he’s created a fascist cult. They hate America and anything with class.

Politics in the US is so polarized, to most Republicans Biden is the devil incarnate, Democrats have exactly the same opinion about Trump, there is no centre ground. We don’t know wether Trump will get a nomination, either way he will have a big influence

Reports that up to 30 felony charges to be brought against Trump next week I think.

Sentences for felony charges are more than 1 year in prison.

Trumps lawyer is in prison for a felony relating to one of the charges and said at the time of his charging that Trump should be made to pay for the same felony.

True to form like all populists Trump is busy gaslighting by blaming everyone else like the Democrats, “liberal” lawyers etc.

Wouldn’t being imprisoned exclude him from nomination? That seems the most likely scenario now.

I don’t think it would. I think he can run for president even if he’s in prison. Wired isn’t it!

I couldn’t sleep last night when the news broke! I thought, when he lost the election I wouldn’t have to see or hear him again but I can cope with seeing him in court. Why oh why are people so blind to what he is?

Katie59 Fri 31-Mar-23 11:15:03

I was in the US a month ago and Trump still has massive support, they think the court case is entirely political ( it probably is).
IF Trump is nominated he might well win because Biden is a long way from the best President and has his own skeletons hidden.

Rule nothing in and nothing out.

I think this is just the tip of the iceberg but it will bolster his MAGA support and end up splitting the Republican Party. He's like BJ but on steroids, thinks only of himself and has no real political ideals! He will do and say anything to bolster his own ego and create mayhem. He's been so bad for American politics just like BJ has for British politics but I don't think he'll be president again.

As with a lot of things like this, this is a person who is going to be indicted for what is probably the most minor of the bad things he’s done. Didn’t his attorney go down for it? I mean, there’s no dispute about the fact that he had an affair with a porn star. And yet people still revere him and vote for him confused.

Casdon Fri 31-Mar-23 13:44:31

I heard an American political commentator say just now that it will likely bolster his status short term within the Republican Party faithful, but severely damage his chances of re-election because the floaters don’t believe in him at all now.

Sorry, Trump has denied there was an affair and Daniels was paid by his lawyers to stop the allegations.

At present we don’t even know what the charges are.

He’s still on record saying how he sucks peppermints so he can kiss any available woman he gets to meet…why would they pay Stormy off if they thought her possible allegations were false? He’s even said if his daughter wasn’t his daughter he’d be dating her. He’s a vile, loathsome man.

Someone recorded the number of times Trump lied during his presidency and it came to more than 3000 lies in 4 years.

Perhaps he lied before he was president and may still be lying now? Seems very likely.
