Hello 👋
Just that. A straw poll.
It would be interesting to see the lay of the land with this.
See how it goes…

Yay from me. I'm looking forward to watt my first Coronation

ilovepuffins Sat 08-Apr-23 19:59:31

A definite yay from me.
I am a royalist and am hoping to go and join the crowds to watch it all.

Treebee Sat 08-Apr-23 19:34:58

Yay! Charles seems a good bloke to me, in an unenviable position. And as someone said upthread, it’s history.

Franbern Sat 08-Apr-23 19:30:33

I do not think that in modern times, Kings and Queens have anything to do with the real history of the time. Perhaps in the long distant past when they were the leaders of the armies that rampaged throughout the countries and could and did impose laws by themselves.

History is how people live their lives, work, eat, make their homes, etc. etc. Nothing whatsoever to do with glitzy expensive ceremonies with a few people with silly titles prancing around in the dressed up costumes.

But, of course, it does keep a lot of people happy, happy with their lot!!!!!

Would rather stick pins in my eyes, so a nay from me!

Grany Sat 08-Apr-23 18:59:36

Nay

If Charles and Camilla are paragons of chastity I should get me to a nunnery. wink

That's not quite what I said, is it?

If Charles and Camilla are paragons of chastity I should get me to a nunnery. wink

I dont think people have been judgemental have they? One person mentioned broken wedding vows. If Diana turns up in a blaze of glory I will just have to pretend that I was watching it.

LadyHonoriaDedlock Sat 08-Apr-23 17:14:43

I hope those who are so judgmental about Charles and Camilla aren't just as judgmental about the rest of us! They remind me of the sort of people who watch from behind the net curtains for any deviation from the norm and relay it amidst much tutting to the rest of the neighbourhood, like a latter-day Ena Sharples damning Elsie Tanner to eternal damnation and barring her from the Mission.

As somebody once said (allegedly) " Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

(Charles and Camilla are paragons of chastity compared to what I've been up to in my time, so go ahead guys, do your worst!)

rafichagran Sat 08-Apr-23 17:07:37

Yay,I will watch it.

GagaJo Sat 08-Apr-23 16:59:54

Nay. I don't respect him. I respected QE.

MrsKen33 Sat 08-Apr-23 16:49:35

Yay, because I watched the Queen’s. And you have to have a bit of continuity in your life, don’t you?

Ziplok Sat 08-Apr-23 16:33:06

Yay.

ptarmigan Sat 08-Apr-23 16:24:12

A definite Nay from me.

ginny Sat 08-Apr-23 16:22:21

I’ll watch the pageant I expect but in general Meh.

AGAA4 Sat 08-Apr-23 15:58:25

Nay, Nay and thrice Nay

Callistemon21 Sat 08-Apr-23 15:56:48

Yay because it's history, innit!

And a neighbourhood party the next day because we're not going to sit skulking indoors while all our lovely neighbours, monarchists, republicans and meh, are outside scoffing lovely food and drink 🥂🍾

Vintagenonna Sat 08-Apr-23 15:55:15

Wonder if Clarkson will get a one of the invites.

NanaDana Sat 08-Apr-23 15:51:11

I'll be watching some of it on TV, but largely from a historic/spectacle point of view rather than from any allegiance to Royalty/aristocracy of any description. Not looking forward to the absolute glut of coverage which will both precede and follow the event, thus denying those of us of a more Republican persuasion any access to alternative viewing. Box sets to the ready again, I fear. So it's a definite "Meh" from me. smile

foxie48 Sat 08-Apr-23 15:47:01

Meh with a strong dose of Nay. However, my neighbour who always organises something for such occasions is having a garden party. I have offered to help as I did with the Jubilee celebration, it's an opportunity for a little community get together and I fully support that.

It’s a Yay from me.

Looking forward to it.

Me too 😃🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

And Me!!

So am I!

My parents had a very rocky marriage because of my mother’s long term affair. I was angry for a few years then realised that it wasn’t anyone’s life plan and out of the blue, I decided not to let it get to me and affect my life. Apart from ensuring that my children know they are loved and secure, it hasn’t!

SachaMac Sat 08-Apr-23 15:36:36

Meh from me, I might catch the highlights on the news. If it’s a nice day I’ll be sitting in the garden.
