Senior Tories want Braverman to stop her racist rhetoric

I agree that the govt doesn't seem to have been really trying on the migrant problem so far. I'm willing to give Braverman a little benefit of the doubt for now though. The fact that she's annoying her own side as well as opposing ones says something – maybe not much but something and she hasn't had much time yet. It's a complex problem she's trying to address.

Valid point about trusting Campbell, Riverwalk. I still don't trust him on this though.

Braverman seems to think as she's from an immigrant background and a Person of Colour herself it gives her license to say what she likes.

She's positioning herself as a darling of the Right with an eye on a future leadership contest - loathsome woman IMO.

Maybe as a woman of colour and from an immigrant background herself she feels free to speak up without any fear of being thought a racist. There’s always another way to look at things.

Eh? But people with brown skin can be racist too.

In my eyes, it’s irrelevant who said it and whether I ‘trust’ them or not.

If it was Nigel Farage who said it, I’d agree.

I can't stand Campbell and don't have to have any trust in him to agree with his opinion on something. On this occasion I think he's right.

The Tories are responsible for the huge backlog on dealing with asylum seekers and immigration in general - it's been all on their watch.

And we all trust Alistair Campbell implicitly, don't we? says Baggs thinking of Labour voters putting signs in their windows saying "Not in my name" when we invaded Iraq.

Alistair Campbell recently said something along these lines.

He said that the Tories aren’t trying to solve the migrant problem;
they are choosing to capitalise on it.

I think that he’s absolutely spot on

I think many people including myself think she has got a point.
I live in an area where we are flooded my migrants in hostels, hotels and now ex university accommodation.
The infrastructure cannot cope.
It is not fair on the migrants themselves or the local population.

They are worried that her rhetoric will put off swing voters, as well as ruin the image of the Tory party.

I think that boat sailed months ago.
