Even more revelations about the SNP today

Police have arrested Colin Beattie, treasurer of the SNP today. Peter Murrell is still under police investigation, the unknown provenance of a £110,000 campervan parked up at Nicola Sturgeon's mother in law's driveway and now the treasurer has been arrested. What on earth is going on within the SNP? Are they trying to emulate Boris?

Ok, I'll explain it in words of one syllable.

Well I'll try, that's actually quite hard.

A very short extract of Neil's article was quoted this morning, I'm going to guess that was in order to suggest how badly the SNP were doing and how Yousaf wasn't going to last long. It was written by a known right winger. I don't think it was posted to give a balanced view of the current situation but to show the SNP in a bad light.

However, even this known right winger acknowledges that the SNP are down but not out, and are likely to be the largest Scottish party in Holyrood and Westminster for the foreseeable. So by quoting that part of the article, I am trying to remind the anti-SNP league that any hopes they have that this is the end of their bête noire, are misplaced.

I'm going to have to be more careful in future. Some people need everything explained to them, I forget that.

My personal bete noir is an incompetent government. Any government that is genuinely willing to work for the good of the whole country and to focus their efforts more broadly than just on independence for a part of the UK would be fine by me. It would be a refreshing change.

Volver you clearly do not know what an open mind is. Never mind.

As for the ferries, I do not need to read about them in the press, DH is a naval architect and has good contacts in the industry and his knowledge of what has been happening over the ferries, would be libellous were I to reproduce it here.

volver3 Sat 22-Apr-23 19:31:30

Oh hello again M0nica.

Are you on a mission?

Maybe that's what prevented you seeing what I said about the ferries.

volver3 Sat 22-Apr-23 19:36:41

If something is true, can it be libellous?

Just wondering....

No, it cannot. Truth is an absolute defence to libel claims, because one of the elements which has to be proven in a libel suit is falsity of the statement. If a statement is true, it cannot be false. However, in Scotland, we do not discriminate between libel and slander - we only have defamation.

Most of what you write here is ok but Why spoil it by being so insulting in the first and last sentence?being rude to posters on this thread ruins any normal discussion on the SNP, why be so thin skinned, it’s politics and there are real questions about how NS her husband and others have acted.

volver3 Sat 22-Apr-23 21:20:57

Well thanks Oreo.

But when people stop making fun of me and insulting me and my country, I'll stop being thin skinned.

Deal?

Callistemon21 Sat 22-Apr-23 21:27:56

No-one is making fun of you.
They just see things from a different point of view, perhaps an objective point of view.
No-one is making fun of Scotland - why would we?

However, politics and politicians are a different matter entirely and criticising them is allowed and par for the course, surely?

volver3 Sat 22-Apr-23 21:32:54

Today 14:42. Today 15:53. Today 21:27; implying that I'm not objective.

Tell me that's not insulting.

Oreo Sat 22-Apr-23 21:33:04

Nobody is making fun of you or insulting you, and you seem super sensitive about anything that goes on in Scotland.
Good that most posters who are English can take criticism of politicians here and of this country. Tolerance needed.
Maybe you’re upset about NS resigning and all the questions being asked around missing money but snippy comments won’t help.
The SNP may come out of this ok or be diminished by it, nobody really knows yet, and it sets back the Indie cause I bet.
We’re all proud of our own country but need to speak out when things are wrong about it too.
We don’t need a deal btw I think you need to just chill out a bit.

volver3 Sat 22-Apr-23 21:37:23

Ah, just what I needed. Unsolicited psychoanalysis.

What a joy.

Some people will find you insulting or expect you to be insulting. 🤷‍♀️

Objective?

Are you objective on the subject in question, volver3?
Or can you claim to be objective?
It's an interesting thought to ponder.

Subjective most commonly means based on the personal perspective or preferences of a person—the subject who’s observing something. In contrast, objective most commonly means not influenced by or based on a personal viewpoint—based on the analysis of an object of observation only.

My Scottish friends may appear not to be objective to me, they have very strong views; I'm sure they would say, as Scots, their views are subjective. Not one in favour of independence btw.

Callistemon21 Sat 22-Apr-23 22:37:00

It's not an insult at all, it's an observation backed up by evidence in posts.

paddyann54 Sat 22-Apr-23 23:42:19

You do all understand that YOUGOV polls aren't exclusive to Scotland ,they are taken UK wide ? That'll change the numbers I'm sure as many still think Scotland is a REGION of England ..that includes some on here !

YouGov polls are in fairness more selective than you are implying in who is asked to participate in different surveys paddyann54. If it is a survey specific to Scottish voting intentions for example, they only include people who are eligible to vote in Scotland.

CSI Kelvingrove.

I think the clicky pens and soup pots are down at the caravan with the Sandras.

The fridge freezer will have been in case Boris popped round and needed somewhere to hide.

(not my comments - plagiarised from twitter)

Aveline Sun 23-Apr-23 12:14:11

What about the burner phones and SIM cards?

Yes but it’s obviously the wrong sort of evidence. 🤣🤣🤣

Sandras? What a rude, unnecessary and judgemental comment. As bad as the Karen ones.

Don't make the point so obscure, then.
Then perhaps everyone will get it.

I just googled Sandras, I found a Unisex hair salon, children's nursery furniture, online underwear, a fish and chip shop, take your pick nanna8

Just thought though...

Unless people are actually in Scotland and understand what's going on, a lot of what happens here will go over their heads, won't it?
