it is the emergency alert that seems to have popped into phones during an update, not the normal alerts

SinL and his DF will be at St James Park on Sunday afternoon. It’s going to be deafening if and when everyone’s phone goes off! We are wondering if the second half, due at 3pm will be postponed for a couple of minutes.

It’s possible to turn off the alert alarm on your phone anytime you wish, no need to have it on at 3pm on Sunday.

You can turn off the alert through settings on iPhones and androids.
