More publicity for the non attention seeking couple.

Maggiemaybe Wed 17-May-23 16:15:27

It’ll be interesting to see what the NYPD have to say.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 17-May-23 16:19:47

If this took place in Manhattan as alleged, the traffic is notoriously slow 24 hours a day.

DH and I have got out of taxis on many an occasion and walked as it was quicker than sitting in grid locked traffic.

I'm going to need a big cup of tea for this thread lol

After 911 New York installed a super duper surveillance system, so it will all be on camera.

I’ve just come in from the garden and made one. 🤣

Here it is on the BBC news.

Yes absolutely, the only people/person reporting this so far is a spokesman fro the couple

SKY are reporting that the the spokesman has said that the couple were in a near catastrophic car chase involving paparazzi

There are police on virtually every corner in NYC, CTV everywhere, I shall await the official announcement before passing judgement.

The only thing I will repost is that traffic in Manhattan rarely gets above 20/25K per hour…

merlotgran Wed 17-May-23 16:27:32

I’ve just glanced at that tabloid that everyone loves to hate and it’s not even on there. 😂

It was breaking news on LBC (where I first heard it) and on the Beeb
I should imagine it’s on all news platforms, not just ‘non reputable tabloids’ Lyle

Sorry but the trumped up dramatic stories I’ve read were all from the worst tabloids. At least here in the US. Anything else I’ve seen didn’t read as over the top. I find it hard to believe there was a true 2 hr car chase in Manhattan at anytime of the day.

Anniebach Wed 17-May-23 16:31:35

They left the event in a car, were followed so escaped into a police station and took a taxi from there !

FannyCornforth Wed 17-May-23 16:32:22

Ah, I didn’t realise you were in the US Lyle, thanks

Visgir1 Wed 17-May-23 16:32:42

Car chase in New York City , really?
I was in New York last month, traffic doesn't move that quick.
Tad exaggerated surly?

Apparently Buckingham Palace will not be issuing a statement.

Very wise.

I shall crack open a bottle of chilled white, should see me through the thread 🤣🤣🤣

FannyCornforth Wed 17-May-23 16:37:36

Merlot - so that’s Buck Palace’s ‘statement, not statement’ smile

Rum for me but I have some pink gin that was a parent gift if you would like a glass?

And in the same week that their lawyer appealed again to the courts for Harry to have paid protection when in this country

Under the circumstances, I genuimely feel sorry for them, with the history of his mother's death. I think this could seriously affect his mentall health.

I do not think that just because I normally have little time for this dreary couple, should mean that I or anyone else should diminish or diss the truly frightening experience they had last night, especially given the manner in which he lost his mother.

I think this event could seriously damage his mental health. I hope he gets the help he needs to deal with it, and not justexploit it.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 17-May-23 16:48:51

I will join you with the white wine GG.

Funny that this important news hasn’t flashed up on my iPad.

Imagine the fodder for the next book - ‘It all flashed before my eyes, my mother all over again’.

FannyCornforth Wed 17-May-23 16:56:01

Monica, not for the first time, I totally agree with you

merlotgran Wed 17-May-23 17:01:01

He can’t afford not to exploit it.

Two more volumes of a book to write and Netflix will want a few more lbs of flesh.

JenniferEccles Wed 17-May-23 17:01:04

Doubtless he will wail that his ‘mental health’ has been irreparably damaged after this.
Enough fodder there though for a chapter or two in his next book.

I was reading the other day that he’s committed to coming up with two further books in keeping with his contract with Penguin.
What can he possibly still have to say?

Ironic that he always claimed to feel less safe here than in the US.
