Ed Davey says they can. Keir Starmer isn’t sure. Can women have a penis?

Freya5 Wed 24-May-23 22:01:50

No.

SueDonim Wed 24-May-23 22:01:57

Men are also being stereotyped here, as violent.

As an old crone I have a life time of perspectives and narratives to choose my beliefs about this subject - while understanding Beliefs are not Truths. Whereas young children have no comprehension of the wider horizons and complexities. To
Indoctrinate children into believing somehow their beautiful precious young bodies are somehow wrong, when they are absolutely perfect just as they are. And to promote surgical castration as well well as physical castration and double mastectomies along with a lifetime of hormones etc etc. I find utterly abominable, and insane child abuse in plain sight. Have you seen the young men who were persuaded to have penis inversion, skin grafted from their poor little arms reconstructed as a vagina, no sexual sensation for life, everyday painfully having to insert, because the hole wants to naturally heal and close. It’s criminal beyond belief. And Young girls having their breasts lopped off. I consider the Doctors performing this surgery are criminal butchers. It’s the same kind of experimental mental physical and psychological torture perpetrated in the concentration camps in Nazi Germany

Nothing to stop them being kind and gentle and calling themselves women. They’re still male though.

Transition is a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of children having nose jobs and breast implants with full parental permission.

But pick your battles eh?

There is a huge and obvious difference between cosmetic surgery and a fruitless attempt to change sex.

Debbie Hayton Scott Newgent, have both written books which give lots of info.

Have you read them VS?

VioletSky Wed 24-May-23 23:07:01

My name is Violet

Imagine I had to put up with people calling me VS on real life

Also, no thanks

Namsnanny Wed 24-May-23 23:16:08

Ahh, I see. I find it's really helpful to find out all sides to a subject.

It seems very hard to make an informed decision if one lacks some of the facts.

As both of the authors are actually affected by this ideology, I would have thought their opinions on the subject would be extraordinarily informative and helpful.

My bad (my son says the kids he teaches say this all the time grin) Each to his own.

Apologies for mis naming you

Smileless2012 Wed 24-May-23 23:23:26

Do you have a source re the number of children having nose jobs and breast implants with parental permission VS? I can understand why there may be a case for cosmetic nose surgery in some cases for children, but not breast implants.

VioletSky Wed 24-May-23 23:25:23

I know enough actually, I don't need a book. I have listened to a lot of trans people and don't believe one speaks for all enough to buy a book.

I'm also not asking you to read any books that I feel support me so we are fair.

Smileless2012 Wed 24-May-23 23:32:22

So you don't have a source for your claim then.

VioletSky Wed 24-May-23 23:34:24

Anyway on the subject of science (transplanted penis recently ignored)

There is a man out there who damaged his spine severely and couldn't walk for over a decade. Scientists were able to, layman's terms, map his brain activity and then place a device below the damaged spine that stimulated his nerves and he was able to walk. Not only that but, stimulating those nerves again promoted healing to the point he can now move without the device.

Isn't that incredible?

That opens up so many possibilities, like robotic limbs for those born without them or who have lost them that are controlled by actual thought.

This is why I place science above belief and why when scientists say, they are seeing evidence that there is a reason for gender dysphoria and real differences at a genetic level... I know they are correct.

Whether the cure for that is transition or preventing gender dysphoria from occuring at whatever stage of development there are problems with... I know we will get there.

When we do, I know that I won't have horrifically judged a whole section of society through ignorance

The NHS does not routinely offer cosmetic surgery.
The minimum age for breast augmentation in the UK is 18.

Children may have an operation called pinnaplasty to pin back their ears, which is cosmetic.
They may, in exceptional circumstances, be eligible for rhinoplasty for psychological reasons.

Namsnanny Wed 24-May-23 23:50:40

Violetsky...Ignorance comes from not opening up to enough relevant facts, and possibly not following the herd, and not judging people who say different things to you.

In fact, the way to grow more synaps (which should encourage better thinking) is to do things differently from your normal habits.

I listen to debates on line, and try to find something I agree with from the side I least support.

It's hard to do, but rewarding.

VioletSky Wed 24-May-23 23:53:23

The world is bigger than the UK and we are not trapped in a bubble we cannot leave

I think cosmetic surgeries on 13 to 19 year olds including breast augmentation, liposuction and rhinoplasty are in the hundreds of thousands yearly last time I checked

That's without Botox and fillers

Google is your friend for a source you are happy to accept

Namsnanny Wed 24-May-23 23:55:52

Take out the 2 not from my post, sorry I'm watching a comic on line, and laughing too much grin

VioletSky Thu 25-May-23 00:00:26

Your definition of ignorance is different to mine Namsnanny

You've gone with the negative connotation rather than the simple truth that individuals do not know everything there is to know about everything. Which is why I spoke for myself when I said it. I'm not a scientist

There is still so much more to learn

What is a fact is that gender dysphoria is real and we will discover the reasons behind it

I accept gender dysphoria is real based on the evidence

So give your examples/sources VS, rather than saying Google it.
Although what you just said/implied is that you just Google until you find something that supports what you want to believe, rather than being able to provide verifiable sources e.g. ONS.

FannyCornforth Thu 25-May-23 06:44:27

I’ve just spent 10 minutes googling ‘plastic surgery under 18 UK statistics’ and variations of it, and I cannot find anything.
So a source really would be helpful

Galaxy Thu 25-May-23 07:05:24

Guess what I think plastic surgery in many cases is harmful, I think the surgeons who did surgery on the likes of Michael Jackson should have been struck off, it's the same for the medical professions who ploughed on with treatment for children presenting with dysphoria whilst all the red flags were being waved. I am afraid it's going to be ok doesnt really cut it with me, because it's been wrong every step of the way.

VioletSky Thu 25-May-23 07:16:02

I forget people can't see past UK

I'm an intersectional feminist so....

Where is the thread about it galaxy?

There are many on my Intersectional feminist group

Look at Ovarit... Their brand preaches feminism, almost every thread is about trans... It's just not healthy and it's harming women

Galaxy Thu 25-May-23 07:40:03

I believe MJ was outside of the UK.
As someone with a German parent, and being half German it feels a bit odd to be told 'people' cant see beyond the UK.
I have no idea what ovarit is so dont feel a great deal of responsibility for it.

Galaxy Thu 25-May-23 07:42:19

Oh and there are threads on plastic surgery as I have talked previously on here about the difficulties about not commenting on individual womens look whilst addressing the wider harm that plastic surgery can do.

Mollygo Thu 25-May-23 07:53:49

Yes, we know. You keep telling us.

. . . you support anything, whether it’s good for women or not, unlike real feminists.

Yes, we know. You keep telling us. Does that make harming children any more acceptable?
Still waiting for your sources, and others are too, so you can’t make your “I’m not talking to you” an excuse.
