I don't think that children should be forced to call someone 'he' if they can see that they are talking to a woman (and vice versa). This is gaslighting, and teaches them not to trust the evidence of their eyes, which is a dangerous thing to do and has safeguarding implications.
I think that adults should have a choice of whether or not to offer preferred pronouns, but that there should be no consequences for those who choose not to, or who prefer to use the pronouns that align with sex rather than so-called 'gender'.
Further, I think that insisting that everyone in a workplace declare preferred pronouns on emails or on screens in virtual meetings should be disallowed, so that those who wish to separate work and private lives can do so, and so that nobody feels compelled to disclose anything about themselves that that is their choice.
