Or are we already without a government.

My so-called MP will not turn up. He's just resigned, 14 months after being banned from the HOC in disgrace.

Probably not. The Tory MPs are worried about upsetting the public who are unbelieavably committed BJ supporters (cant believe in folk who support liars).

Johnson slagged of the whole process and the committee in his usual bullish manner. Then low and behold he recommends that his party should vote FOR the committee's findings. Why? Because he didn’t want to cause a split or something within the Party. Really, are we expected to swallow that ? Also, that he has become some kind of martyr. Or could it be that he knows it will get voted for anyway and it was the best way to save the humiliation that will be heaped upon him. He also needs to be admired and liked so here comes Mr hard done by but really Mr Nice Guy.

My MP was one of the ones standing outside No 10 in tears when he left so I very much doubt that she’d vote against him.

I’ve no idea what’s going to happen, but I’m assuming that characters like Rees Mogg will attempt to present themselves as Johnson loyalists - to please any remaining supporters he has in the electorate. I hope Penny Mordaunt gets her sword out!

If they don’t vote won’t the opposition have to do a reciprocal no vote also? Or is that only if there’s a valid reason for not being there? A Johnson supporter on QT pointed out that Johnson has lost his livelihood because of this. Can someone remind me how much he’s now being paid by the Mail to write one article a week plus all of his paid speeches worldwide?

There’s a one line whip so attendance and voting are not compulsory and there’s no pairing between mps. It’s rubber stamping and moving on time.

maybe DS was saying yesterday, that an analysis of the DM article appears to show that it was produced by AI. So Johnson isn’t even putting in any effort for his million!

ronib Mon 19-Jun-23 10:37:39

Ww2 that’s rubbing salt into the wound. But how do you know Johnson isn’t A1hmm?

Juliet27 Mon 19-Jun-23 10:43:53

If he is then humanity is doomed!!

Grantanow Mon 19-Jun-23 11:41:03

It may go through on the nod so no-one has to vote.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Jun-23 16:25:34

Debate has just started

MayBee70 Mon 19-Jun-23 16:26:37

I’ve just emailed m MP saying I expect her to support the Privileges Committee

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Jun-23 16:27:49

👍

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Jun-23 16:41:04

Is Sunak sitting this out then?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Jun-23 17:06:44

Admiration for Theresa May

Casdon Mon 19-Jun-23 17:07:00

Very appropriate speech from Teresa May just now.

Siope Mon 19-Jun-23 17:13:05

Do I have it right that the only members of the cabinet present are Mordaunt and Churchill?

Shameful.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Jun-23 17:15:00

It would seem so.

Listening to the speeches particularly from May, it really is beyond disgraceful that they are not turning up.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Jun-23 17:41:46

Lia Nici!!

Quite extraordinary.

Casdon Mon 19-Jun-23 17:45:38

Whitewavemark2

Lia Nici!!

Quite extraordinary.

What IS she talking about regarding the language in which the report is written being biased when the words she suggested were biased were in fact neutral?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Jun-23 18:02:46

All people should continuously rule. I agree with that!

Churchill

Grantanow Mon 19-Jun-23 18:05:40

It's a disgrace if Sunak and Cabinet do not vote. The Committee of Privileges is not a kangaroo court. It is advised by a judge. It must be supported otherwise Ministers will be able to lie to the Commons with impunity.

MayBee70 Mon 19-Jun-23 18:07:01

Crikey. This is good stuff. I welled up when I heard Tobias Elwood and Theresa May speak. Even Leadsom. And Peter Bottomley. I won’t say the effect Rees Mogg had on me….
