Bonus Holes..as an alternative to a vagina.

From a Woman's charity, dedicated to women's health,

What a revolting name, for a vagina. Who thinks up this nonsense?🙄

Julie Bindell has written an article for the DM:

"As holes go, they are arguably the most important in the world. Every man and woman ever to have lived – except those born by caesarean section – has sprung forth into this world from one.

And yet a charity dedicated to women's health, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, is suggesting that the word 'vagina' could be referred to as the 'bonus hole' to avoid offending or excluding trans men or 'non-binary' people.

As a feminist campaigner, I am appalled. I've spent time over the decades trying to raise awareness among women about our bodies.

I've encouraged women to unlearn the shame associated with our biology.

So the idea that we should stop referring to the vagina by its name is grossly offensive.

I grew up absorbing the message that our bodies were dirty.

We would use euphemisms to describe its parts, because 'vagina' and even 'breast' were considered unpleasant.

I recall, back in the Eighties, buying tampons only to have the shopkeeper quickly put the box in a brown paper bag as if it were a porn magazine. But we feminists learned to take pride in our physical form.

I would shake the tampons out of the bag to make the point that I was not ashamed of menstruating. After all, it's a reality for half the population.

It's worth noting that this form of McCarthyite censorship is reserved for descriptions of female anatomy only. That's why this is nothing short of misogyny.

There is no such suggestion, of course, to swap words that men use to describe their biology.

Perhaps, to be fair, we should change 'penis' to 'flesh roll' to avoid offending trans women? I'm sure men won't object. Just a thought."

There’s a tv prog I believe - the vagina monologues. I wonder if some poor, demented producer is considering a rebrand - bonus hole monologues?

Im so fed up with this nonsense

The actual context is trying to find a term trans men and non binary people feel comfortable using in order to help them feel confident seeking medical treatment.

But why accept a rational explanation when you can just get all angry about it, assign lots of untruths to the whole situation and use it as another stick to beat trans people with even though they aren't directly responsible anyway

The GC are creating their own distruction by pandering to what amounts to conspiracy theory nonsense and will eventually find no place to be heard an I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing when there are actual real issues that need to be resolved

That's why there is no place for me on these threads... I'm not interested in being swept up in hysteria and want resolutions to real issues...

So I don't really bother any more

But you are on here and bothering...😉

DiamondLily - that's a totally brilliant reaction to your hysterectomy .

My father says odd things all the time .

Once in the middle of a restaurant , he asked very loudly , what's an orgasm ?

I am convinced that I was conceived by immaculate conception .

Your first sentence,

to make them feel confident seeking medical treatment

Trans are informed adults, they know the terminology to describe how they feel in the wrong body ergo they must also know the correct terminology for anatomy.

It’s not all about the trans community it is about women who have had vaginas since Eve, and should continue to have vaginas until the demise of the human race…

Iam64 Sun 09-Jul-23 19:49:43

Women need to feel confident seeking medical treatment. Why should the medical term for vagina be changed to something misogynistic ? Trans people, like women, will be familiar with the complexities of discussing intimate details

Are we to dismiss the groups of women whose culture make these intimate examinations and discussions even more difficult. Women who were subject the female genital mutilation as children for example? They’re in physical and emotional need of effective support during pregnancy and childbirth. English may not be their first language, the may be expected to be chaperoned by a male relative.

maddyone Sun 09-Jul-23 19:53:10

Bonus hole or front hole? How damned condescending! It’s a vagina!

NanKate Mon 10-Jul-23 07:58:25

I agree Maddyone.

And who is this ‘Bonus’ for ?

Iam64 Mon 10-Jul-23 08:03:03

Nan Kate I think we know the answer to that one 😕

nanna8 Mon 10-Jul-23 08:17:12

I wonder which revolting specimen dreamed up that term ? Can’t be a human, surely? Must be a robot..

NotSpaghetti Mon 10-Jul-23 08:20:41

I think VS was saying that this was an option put forward for a particular group of trans people to use if they wished.

I don't believe the idea was to use it instead of "vagina" for anyone else!

DiamondLily Mon 10-Jul-23 08:42:59

It is a woman's charity, aiming to give health information to women. All women.

I don't even understand the logic - as adult humans, we know what most body parts are called, regardless of whether we've got one or not.

Biological men understand what a vagina is, and biological women know what a penis is.

A biological man, regardless of identifying, will not have the same medical issues as a biological woman.

A biological man does not need cervical smears, fibroid ops, hysterectomies or anything along those lines.

A biological woman will not need prostate tests, or need scans for any testicular swelling.

Surely, if someone considers themselves well balanced and intelligent enough to change gender, they can cope with body parts being given their long held and traditional names?

This country seems like a parallel universe at times..🙄

You would hope so but apparently many are not and, in addition, many who should be helping them are instead contorting themselves to pander to foolishness.

I don't actually remember any mention of the word 'vagina' during any medical examination or treatment I've had.
If it is to be mentioned, medical staff should call it a vagina but should accept whatever name a patient wants to call it.
It seems unnecessary to list words that patients might use (if that's what this is).

DiamondLily Mon 10-Jul-23 08:58:38

On the bright side, at least some of the TW's at London Pride are still being "nice"....not. 🙄

"A transgender activist who served 30 years in jail for attempted murder has told the crowd at a Trans Pride march if they saw a 'TERF', they should punch them in the face.

Sarah Jane Baker was one of the speakers at the Trans+ Pride event in London yesterday and used her speech to call for violence against those critical of trans ideology.

She told the cheering crowd: 'I was gonna come here and be really fluffy and be really nice and say yeah be really lovely and queer and gay... Nah, if you see a TERF, punch them in the f******"

Ludicrous. A very offensive choice of words. Someone should be sacked.

For anyone who disbelieves whatever is written in the Daily Mail, here is video of that man Sarah Jane Baker saying exactly as stated :

Honestly I wouldn’t go to see a production of The Vagina Monologues with a transgender performer/presenter

The stories told are real life experiences of women , the ones from the young woman who experienced rape and sexual torture were heartbreaking.

I do not need to see a man in a frock with false breasts tell me about what it’s like to be a woman just ridiculous …

FarNorth Mon 10-Jul-23 09:17:49

Sarah Jane Baker spent 30 years in men's prison for kidnap, torture and attempted murder.
He now wants to be an MP.

Eve Ensler, author of the Vagina Monologues, fully supports its inclusion of men as women.
Apparently, now, the only thing not allowed is for women to have anything of their own.

I do not know if I am angry, sad or just out and out frustrated at the creeping erasure of women

This is not happening to men, trans men are not shouting and demonstrating against them.

I agree - biological women talking about their experiences to other women was the whole point of it.

A bloke doing it wouldn't be relevant.

If biological men want something along these lines, they should do the Penis Monologues or something..🙄

Honestly, it feels, at times, that there is nothing with, female life, that biological men aren't trying to gatecrash.🥴

FarNorth Mon 10-Jul-23 10:40:16

The first of those 2 links is to an all-trans version of Vagina Monologues.

So male people can have their own thing and can co-opt the word 'vagina' for themselves.
Female people, though, must always include male people if that's what the male people want.
