I could say the same about you. You "appear" to have posted a great deal more than I have on these threads.

Why are you, and others, so determined to destroy this man's life and livelihood on the basis of a front page splash on the Sun which changed as they couldn't stand it up, plus some unsubstantiated gossip on that well known teller if truth - I dont think - social media?

A man has a sex life that some view as seedy but two police forces have found not to be illegal.

A man has a recorded history of severe depression.

The two things exist at the same time but there has been no claim that the behaviour has been caused by the mental health.

A week of being hunted through the media, by the media, with bloodlust and a triumphant Gotcha! ("Huw Edwards OUTED by his wife") has brought on a severe MH episode for which he is now hospitalized.

Of course there are questions about the young person, about their health, about why their estranged parents did what they did. Principally questions about why The Sun, a "newspaper" not fit to lìne the budgie's cage, is allowed to exist.

In the meantime, I'm settling for compassion for the whole Edwards family, and especially for Huw Edwards himself.

There’s been zero evidence any sex with younger men took place and the man that alleges Huw Edwards visited him states all he wanted was for him to make him a cup of tea. There’s an allegation that explicit photographs were bought from the first young man. That seems to be it unless you know something the rest of us don’t?

Correct, tickingbird, she simply can't help herself. Sadly, she isn't alone, and the heartless condemnation and groundless speculation continues elsewhere. It's like attacking a corpse. What drives such behaviour, and what exactly is the point of it all? Vicarious pleasure? God only knows, because I don't.

Onlyfans disgusts me on a personal level, but if consenting adults choose to go that way, that's their choice. Yes, it's open to under age-related abuse, but it's not alone there. Also, are you really suggesting that I support bullying, controlling behaviour? Total tosh. As for a desire to "control" people's opinion, you are confusing "control" with "disagree". You may be uncomfortable with what I and others are arguing here, but that doesn't invalidate our opinions. I take nothing back.

Sorry to come back on this but I realised (woke up a bit more) that you said A man has a sex life that some view as seedy I certainly don't support that being in print. There is no evidence for that statement.

Maybe you didn't notice that The Sun changed what it said on the front page splash as time went by.

Couldn't agree more, Dragonfly, but some seem obsessed with continued speculation and condemnation. It probably says more about them evidentially than The Sun has ever said about Huw Edwards.

I find it extremely sad that several mature ladies have stooped so low as to endlessly comment on this thread involving someone they don't know and will never meet. By all means have a comment but to continue to rant on about it confirms that you have little or no life of your own to focus on. Go for a walk, do your garden, bake a cake but whatever you says is like chaff to the wind! The media and authorities will deal with whatever needs to be done. Concentrate on your own families and friends.

No, you couldn't say the same about me - because I'm not pouncing on other people's posts browbeating them over their comments.

And I really, really resent the accusation that I am determined to destroy this man's life. I have not made one single comment about him, nor have I said anything that could be construed as any kind of witch-hunt against him. I have - as is quite normal on social media when sensitive news items are headlining - deliberately avoided speculating on his identity. Further, like bikergran - I had no idea who this person was and made no effort to discover his identity, as mentioned in one of my posts.

You are keen to lecture those you perceive are making unsubstantiated claims but in fact you are doing just that yourself, and frankly, if this were anything other than a social media site, I would be reporting you for making unsubstantiated accusations against me. Just stop it.

I see the posters who claim to be kind, compassionate and understanding are continuing to be combative, belligerent and judgemental about posters they accuse of exactly that.

Yes be kind is one of the most unpleasant phrases on the internet in my experience, I am always wary when its trotted out.

But those advocating ‘kindness’ and ‘understanding’ in such condescending and sanctimonious terms are the ones calling anyone who disagrees with them names, and who have consistently been offensive and rude throughout this thread. The people they have vilified, however, have remained dignified and (IMO quite remarkably) calm in the face of the abuse.

Perhaps the board police might consider the impact on the mental health of those they are attacking like this, and how their accusations might make others feel? Or does that not matter, so long as they get to shout us down?

Yes, I don't know why people are getting so cross with this - we all have our own opinions, and neither Edwards nor the young man were named on here, before yesterday, when it was confirmed.

Personally, I do find things like OnlyFans, and sexual gratification exchange apps to be quite unpleasant, and I do think they can be damaging. Even more if (as the parents allege), it's being used to fund a harmful crack addiction.

But, if it's consenting adults, then it's not my circus or my clowns, to be honest.

Mental illness can cause other problems - and sometimes the drugs used to treat mental illness can cause other problems. We, rightly, don't know Edward's medical history.

It's a sad saga, especially for Edward's family, made worse by certain newspapers.🙁
