It was the same bloke who Bairstow carried off at Lords.

It was only a matter of time until this turned violent

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 19-Jul-23 14:45:56

These people are an abomination.

FannyCornforth Wed 19-Jul-23 14:57:16

Where were the police?

Dinahmo Wed 19-Jul-23 17:07:29

The planet is burning. We need to stop using fossil fuels. Regions that are usually subject to drought have suffered extremely violent rainfall, as in California last winter.

North Africa, Portugal,Spain and Italy as well as south eastern France are experiencing extreme temperatures. the droughts last year in Spain mean that there will be s shortage of olive oil later this year.

The oceans are warming and so ocean life is suffering.

It is possible that the young woman in the video was on her way to hospital, but that's not what she said. looking at the video is seems that her partner pulled out into the other lane and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Not the best thing to to when there is a jam caused by a demonstration.

FannyCornforth Wed 19-Jul-23 17:28:24

Dinahmo I agree.
I don’t doubt that humans are in terrible trouble.
I don’t doubt climate change.
I just can’t see the way forward here

eazybee Wed 19-Jul-23 17:39:01

And causing traffic jams deliberately is not going to help the planet one jot.

It’s a mess isn’t it.
It can’t be long before someone is killed.
And as I said before, where are the police?

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 19-Jul-23 17:48:29

I agree Dinahmo but these people don’t help their cause - quite the reverse. Perhaps they would like to go to China to protest about their use of fossil fuels. I’m not the only one here who has got the message but what are people who are dependent on oil and gas, even electricity, for heating supposed to do whilst these wretched protestors are stopping them from getting to work or attending vital appointments, for chemo for instance? If you live in the sticks you have little choice for heating, cooking and fuel for your car. I don’t need persuading about climate change but I have to live and to get to appointments. Many others have to get to work. And emergency services have to reach those in need. These ridiculous protests achieve nothing to halt climate change. Absolutely nothing,

eazybee Wed 19-Jul-23 17:52:24

Just watched the video and someone very soon is going to drive through the line.
The tolerance of the motorists is amazing.

FannyCornforth Wed 19-Jul-23 17:53:04

GSM the hospital appointment thing makes me despair.
I really don’t have any words to express it.
I’m sure that everyone feels the same way
I can only be grateful that it hasn’t happened to me

Someone is going to die soon

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 19-Jul-23 18:10:30

I agree Fanny. I’m thankful that I haven’t been prevented from attending a potentially life-saving appointment (or indeed, thank God, needed one) but so many have, and doctors and surgeons have been prevented from getting to work. Ambulances have been delayed. How can this help their cause? They absolutely don’t care about ‘collateral damage’, people’s lives and livelihoods.

Smileless2012 Wed 19-Jul-23 18:13:59

No they don't GSM. What's the point of caring about the planet when you don't care about the people who inhabit it.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 19-Jul-23 18:19:33

Indeed Smiles. All they’re interested in is their cause.

Louella12 Wed 19-Jul-23 18:25:28

I'm very pleased that I've not ever ended up behind these idiots.

Patience may be a virtue but I don't have any.

Siope Wed 19-Jul-23 18:41:55

Good job the Suffragettes were so non-disruptive.

And the person to blame for violent attacks is always the attacker, not the victim. Unless, perhaps, one is punching a Nazi.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 19-Jul-23 18:46:31

So presumably you think these tactics are ok?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 19-Jul-23 18:58:16

Listening to the victim I was struck at how charming , empathetic and non-confrontational he is.

He could give a few GNs a lesson.

MerylStreep Wed 19-Jul-23 19:03:30

I’d have joined the boyfriend if I’d been there 😡
These people are causing untold misery. ))7

Yes the victim understood the sheer frustration, apparently the person who kicked him in the head had just had a car crash and the victim said he thought that the perpetrator must be very stressed.

You wouldn't know a Nazi if you bumped into one. Or is it that you are one of a number that equates that awful term with people who just don't agree with you.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 19-Jul-23 19:17:55

The victim said that he won’t be reporting the violence to the police because he wouldn’t want the perpetrator to suffer any consequences.

Perhaps they are beginning to realise that they haven’t got the support of the general public.

We all know global warming is real, so many of us are doing what we can.

The U.K.’s contributions to it is insignificant compared to other industrialised countries.

Deedaa Wed 19-Jul-23 19:43:24

The sad thing is that climate change is such a vitally important subject and the protesters are doing nothing to help. The way they are approaching it is just turning people against them, including people who would otherwise support them.
