Youngest life peer sworn in yesterday.
This still amazes me.
And why don't we know anything about her?

Also, does this mean she lives in Alderly Edge or was born there, or her family is from there?
I love Alderly Edge!

Also, know Peers are often (always?) "of" somewhere but how is this decided?

This is really a horrid thread. Casting aspersions on a young woman, done no wrong as far as I can see, oh given a life peerage, can remember Blair giving out, 300 was it, to increase Labour numbers in the House of Lords. Uhm. As for the increasingly nasty comments re her parentage, wonder if it was a young lefty peerage you'd all be so awful.

She would have done her future career more good if she’d declined it - ‘on mature reflection’ of course.

I’m such a terrible gossip blush
She also has the same figure (legs especially) as Rachel Johnson

Certainly, looking at the group photo, the same exhibitionist tendency...😄

FannyCornforth Wed 26-Jul-23 07:41:18

NS Remember one of the Tories (or was it The MoS?) accusing Angela Rayner of ‘using’ her legs to distract male members of The Cabinet during PMQs?

NotSpaghetti Wed 26-Jul-23 07:19:21

I suppose, Fanny regarding legs, Johnson might notice she has two...
And he would seem to be correct according to your evidence.

Lara is 30, Cassia is 26

Super injunctions cost £30000 and are brought in by the wealthy. I’ve tried looking at who might have a super injunction but it seems even that is secret.!

So we can’t even confirm whether she has one or not.

I think patience is called for - if there is anything dodgy about her peerage it will come out eventually.

I mean it might be entirely innocent - but honestly? - nothing Johnson does is innocent.

FannyCornforth Wed 26-Jul-23 07:04:16

Charlotte Owen; Lara Lettice Johnson; Cassia Peaches Johnson

DiamondLily Wed 26-Jul-23 06:57:36

There is loads of speculation about her being either his daughter or one of his girlfriends, but with the super injunction in place, it'll probably never be known.

Ludicrous that she's in the HofL though - that whole place needs reform.🙄

BlueBelle Wed 26-Jul-23 05:45:42

I can imagine Johnson having it away with anything with a pulse
Exactly I wouldn’t imagine he would even know their age 🤣

FannyCornforth Wed 26-Jul-23 05:37:40

I can’t believe that people think that a couple of decades between people is remarkable! grin

Johnson’s mother was a Charlotte too..

Wiki can be updated/altered by anyone so I believe?

Does anyone know for sure that there is a super injunction in place?

It is suspected, rather than known, because no-one seems to be talking about her in the media, nor can much be found out about her. The reason she has been given a peerage is a mystery.

Though I suppose it might be reasonable to think that Johnson did it to stick two fingers up to the constitutional conventions he's been breaking and ignoring for the past 3 years.

Yes, wiki can be edited by anyone.

maddyone Tue 25-Jul-23 23:26:40

I shouldn’t have thought she’s his daughter. I suspect that’s just gossip.
He gave his brother a peerage to get rid of him out of the Commons because his brother didn’t agree with what he was doing and would have voted against him. Now that’s not gossip, it’s what happened.

Objection!

40 year old women may be very attractive - 40 is not old and he would have been late 20s.

That, however, is not fair, pointing the finger at Charlotte's mother.
I'm sure there may be other reasons.

BlueBelle Tue 25-Jul-23 19:12:21

I can't see BoJo bonking a 40-year old woman (daughter born 1993
Can’t you ?seems as if he’s not very fussy and neither are the various women obviously

Grannynannywanny Tue 25-Jul-23 17:46:36

I suspect young Baroness Owen knows where BJ’s skeletons are buried and perhaps this is her reward for loyalty.

mabon1 Tue 25-Jul-23 17:42:35

Many people have questioned the new 25 year old MP yet here we have a woman who will be a peer until she dies, aged 30 who hasn't done anything for which to be applauded - unbelievable and quite wrong (in my opinion)

Whitewavemark2 Tue 25-Jul-23 17:39:59

Yes.

MaizieD Tue 25-Jul-23 17:35:52

What beats me is why Sunak agreed as he must be known what the public reaction would be.

I think there's a big conspiracy of silence and 'don't rock the boat' happening around Johnson and his activities. I also suspect that Johnson has some sort of hold over Sunak.

There's something very rotten indeed about our current and recent governors...

NotSpaghetti Tue 25-Jul-23 17:34:49

If she does, Callistemon21 she's not said anything publicly as far as I know! hmm

Callistemon21 Tue 25-Jul-23 17:30:15

Does Carrie know the reason for Ms Owen's elevation to the peerage?

It seems to be quite ludicrous.

Have looked her up but not much joy. Her parents married in 1975 in the Macclesfield district. Her mother, Kathryn L, was born in 1952 so must have been around 40 when her daughter was born.

I can't see BoJo bonking a 40-year old woman (daughter born 1993). She must have got him out of some scrape with the truth (G-d knows he had enough of them) so he repaid her help that way.

According to one source (which has disappeared) her father died a couple of years ago, aged 91.

Riverwalk

According to Wiki her 'career' seemed to consist of a month here, two months there, all intern-type roles - whatever qualifies her to be described as a Special Adviser?

On what did she advise and what qualities and experience does she bring to the House of Lords?

A wilful act on Johnson's part, a sort of two fingers up to the political system that got rid of him.

What beats me is why Sunak agreed as he must be known what the public reaction would be.
