Am so upset and outraged that a mother was arrested with her young son by Met Police as having not paid bus fare…Mother had paid bus fare .. am physically disgusted with MET police
They have traumatised this young boy and CANNOT understand these charges..

Iam64, the words you quoted at 8.08 today are exactly the sort of response I used to get from my DGS who has ASC when he was at primary school.
He’s much more grown up now AND he shows his ticket without making a fuss, when asked.

Anniebach Mon 31-Jul-23 08:35:16

There is a chap on Instagram who ‘does Prince Harry’ , anyone wearing a white mask, it’s’unconscious bias’ he is now stopping using toothpaste because it ‘whitens teeth’ , so funny

Really! A serious discussion ranging over many significant issues, leading to differing, at times polarised views reduced to the playground

DiamondLily Mon 31-Jul-23 07:54:01

Well, the idea that having a massive tantrum means you don't have to supply proof of payment is ludicrous.🙄

The idea that ticket inspectors and transport police would have wasted all this time on someone that had shown a ticket, because they just wanted to target her, is even sillier.

The only people that upset the child were the mother and whoever it was shouting and waving a camera around. She could have set him a good example - she chose not to.

Hopefully, next time, she will just do what we all have to - provide proof of payment.

Eazybee, of course the law applies to her, as it applies to any of us, however irritating it may be at times.

eazybee Sun 30-Jul-23 22:39:46

All passengers on the bus and alighting was asked to show their ticket.
Anyone without a valid ticket is required to provide their details to a TfL Inspector so that a penalty fine can be issued.
This is not a policing matter.
Officials only become involved where details are not provided or where someone tries to leave when challenged.

She was asked three times to show her ticket.
Does the law not apply to her?

You can’t argue with someone who says she’s leaving when disagreed with and then pops back on to talk about herself again. 🤣🤣🤣

VioletSky Sun 30-Jul-23 21:31:42

There just isn't anything further to add to the discussion and I see no point in going in the same circles

Welcome to have an argument with me about me though Molly but I would suggest I know me a slight bit better than you do, so you will lose

Mollygo Sun 30-Jul-23 21:27:24

Typical vs shut down behaviour VS. If people don’t agree with you, off you go. 🤣🤣🤣

VioletSky Sun 30-Jul-23 20:43:43

Leaving now, sensible people have gone and almost everyone else obviously agrees it was an overreaction after seeing the evidence

VioletSky Sun 30-Jul-23 20:42:49

And this idea that the whole situation was somehow set up is absolutely vile

Check your privilege

VioletSky Sun 30-Jul-23 20:41:24

She paid

We don't know why she didn't show ticket, maybe she couldn't find it and panicked but that is conjecture

They obviously need a better system because 3 police over a couple of quid ticket is a waste of resources

tickingbird Sun 30-Jul-23 20:33:59

No it wasn’t ok. She created a drama, upset her young son and wasted police time. Pity she hasn’t been charged accordingly!

VioletSky Sun 30-Jul-23 20:21:58

I don't know why she didn't

That's the point

I make no assumptions

What I do know is in the video and it wasn't ok

GrannyGravy13 Sun 30-Jul-23 20:13:47

VioletSky

She hasn't released her name, hasn't sold her story

Presumptions are unconscious bias

Ok VioletSky how about you tell us why she didn’t produce her ticket when first asked by the ticket inspector?

Why she didn’t produce her ticket when the PCSO asked her?

Why she didn’t produce her ticket when the Police Officer asked her?

She had three opportunities to show her ticket, she declined until such time as she was handcuffed.

Unconscious bias my foot…

VioletSky Sun 30-Jul-23 20:07:28

She hasn't released her name, hasn't sold her story

eazybee Sun 30-Jul-23 19:59:48

Yes, that is what I think, GrannyGravy; he wasn't her brother, just someone 'passing.'

GrannyGravy13 Sun 30-Jul-23 19:52:38

This entire situation was manufactured by the female who refused to show her ticket.

The guy videoing parts of the altercation ensured that she got her five minutes of fame

eazybee Sun 30-Jul-23 19:48:08

She was asked three times for her ticket and refused to present it. Why?
She is making a fuss for the benefit of the recording; I have watched the tape and do not see any evidence of manhandling but do see a woman resisting arrest.

She is responsible for upsetting her child. It is a tactic used to divert attention and shift blame.

VioletSky Sun 30-Jul-23 19:27:27

The police continued to manhandle her after she gave them the ticket

As I keep saying

She is saying "you are hurting me" after she gave them the ticket

If you think that is fine, great... I don't

Young black child, probably his first experience of the police... Will be ever trust them again? Probably not no

eazybee Sun 30-Jul-23 19:21:12

The Met statement said she was asked three times by three separate officials.
She did what according to the video?

PollyM Sun 30-Jul-23 19:17:56

Be aware there are always at least, 2 sides of a story, some of which may not be in the public domain

VioletSky Sun 30-Jul-23 19:17:50

She did according to the video

eazybee Sun 30-Jul-23 19:07:14

And the simplest way to get to her crying son was to show her ticket.
She refused three times to show her ticket.
