Harry, Meghan and the Invictus Games

Now the Invictus Games have finished, it was a triumph for M&H who showed what they were capable of, mixing and socialising with the competitors and their families with ease and enjoyment. They have been widely praised in other countries. Coverage here seemed to be patchy. Which seems a bit strange and not right for the competitors. But can anyone doubt that the couple could have been a great asset, and modernised the RF, or that Meghan looks so much happier and more relaxed than when she was subjected to royal protocol?

The Games were a huge success, and H&M were a huge success with the competitors.

That's all it needs to be. ๐Ÿ™‚

VioletSky Sun 17-Sept-23 16:08:50

Have to make the best of this one then

DiamondLily Sun 17-Sept-23 16:33:29

Well, yes, Harry started this, independent, of the royals, and this event has nothing to do with the family squabbles going on.

It all went well, and that's all it needs to be. ๐Ÿ™‚

I wish those who comment on H & M would add the sources where they found the information. There is no media I can think of that wouldn't slag them off for their own reasons

it's quite easy to verify yourself! just google what you want to check out. I just did that The media report what they find. They do not 'slag' off, that horrible word you so easily use!
Prince Harry has revealed his emotional final words to his beloved grandmother the Queen at Balmoral just hours after she passed away.

In his autobiography Spare, which has been released in Spain before its publication in the UK next week, the Duke of Sussex describes how he whispered to her that he 'hoped she was happy' and would be reunited with Prince Philip, who died a year earlier. He also told her that he admired her for having carried out her duties until the end.

H&M aren't, unlike the others, costing us anything. Let them live as they want to. The right wing media/palace PR machine, can often distort facts.

This is a family argument, which no one outside the family, knows the full facts of, so best let it be. ๐Ÿ™‚

This thread is about Harry, Meghan and the Invictus Games.

It was suggested that I start another thread if I wanted to discuss The Invictus Games.

Perhaps it's not me who is steering the thread off course.

VioletSky Sun 17-Sept-23 16:56:26

I thought you were thinking that the games themselves deserved attention over Harry and Meghan Callistermon...

So a Harry and Meghan free zone would be appreciated for talking about sport?

Obviously discussing just the games here is fine too... just you know ... H&M might pop up too... oh! Remember the shop? Lol

Callistemon21 Sun 17-Sept-23 17:01:44

Oh, what you thought I am thinking is not at all what I'm thinking.

I said nothing of the kind.

Stop twisting my words and posts please.

Callistemon21 Sun 17-Sept-23 17:02:52

And no, I do not want to be drawn into your games, I was only interested in the ones which were the subject of the thread.

Anniebach Sun 17-Sept-23 17:03:17

It's very difficult not to discuss H and M isn't it? Their perpetual whining and complaining, whilst remaining completely oblivious of their many privileges, is akin to having tinnitus in both ears - hard to ignore and extremely irritating.

Yes, but as Harry started this whole thing, independent of the royals, it should still be applauded.

It, obviously, brings a lot to the competitors.

It has nothing to do with Charles, William, Kate, or what they might think.

They are irrelevant in this.

I don't find the royals, any of them, hard to ignore.

But, I do think this event is something worthwhile. ๐Ÿ‘

Anniebach Sun 17-Sept-23 18:40:50

Surely every charity event is worthwhile

Well that is not exactly true is it?

The Invictus Games was originally set up as one of Harry's projects within the Royal family and ยฃ500,000 of the start-up funding came from the Royal Foundation which at the time was a charitable foundation started by Prince Harry together with Prince William in 2009 and later Catherine when she joined the Royal Family they put their wedding donations into the foundation. The Endeavour fund which included the Invictus Games was a fund within the Foundation created by William and Harry for the funding of projects to support service personnel.

I understand that this has now been separated out after Harry and Meghan left royal life and that they pursue it as a private patronage

Harry didn't start the games independently of the Royals . He got the idea from the American Warrior games in 2013. They were instigated in collaboration between the Royal Foundation of the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Ministry of Defence and launched in 2014. Prince William and Catherine contributed $1m in 2020. The Royal Foundation transferred $11 million to the games last year. Not many people seem to be aware of this financial support, particularly Prince Harry.

Glorianny* The white jacket she wore proved so popular the website selling it crashed. It was J Crew.

No it wasn't. It was a designer jacket costing nearly ยฃ1,500. Plus she wore tens of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery.

Here's the story. Click on the link to see the jacket. www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/meghan-markle-sweater-blazer_l_6501e9cee4b0e254edce92e6

Now what evidence have you that it was designer?

Much of her jewellery has been given to her.
