Harry, Meghan and the Invictus Games

Now the Invictus Games have finished, it was a triumph for M&H who showed what they were capable of, mixing and socialising with the competitors and their families with ease and enjoyment. They have been widely praised in other countries. Coverage here seemed to be patchy. Which seems a bit strange and not right for the competitors. But can anyone doubt that the couple could have been a great asset, and modernised the RF, or that Meghan looks so much happier and more relaxed than when she was subjected to royal protocol?

I think Meghan is terrific, it's a shame the RF didn't utilise her and Harry when they had the chance.

It’s a pity Meghan didn’t utilise her opportunities within the RF when she had the chance

Jaberwok Tue 19-Sept-23 13:04:29

Yes that is a great pity. The country welcomed her with open arms, the RF bent over backwards to accommodate her and Harry, but none of it was good enough . The Press were very pro her at first, until the stories of unpleasant behaviour (probably deliberate) began to appear. After that it was downhill all the way with the lies and spurious accusations by the Sussex's,and the rest is history.

Other women dress like their mother in law, I haven’t noticed

This comment would give the impression of a daughter-in-law and her mother-in-law as being of different ages.

Diana was 36 when she died.
Meghan is 42.

I don't understand the point Anniebach is trying to make here.

Siope Tue 19-Sept-23 13:30:41

The press (or at least some of it) were making snide racist remarks about her before they were even engaged.

The Mail’s ‘straight outa Compton’ article ran in November 2016; Rachel Johnson’s despicable article claiming that if the couple had children ‘the Windsors will thicken their watery, thin blue blood and Spencer pale skin and ginger hair with some rich and exotic DNA’ was published early that month. The Palace’s official statement noting various racist undertones and comments in the media, and pointing out that there were ‘nightly legal battles’ to stop the British media’s intrusive and offensive coverage was also issued that month.

I couldn’t care less whether anyone likes or loathes Harry and/or Meghan, but re-writing history to fit any narrative is not a good thing.

Anniebach Tue 19-Sept-23 13:34:02

The Palace did act ? The couple said they didn’t

Anniebach Tue 19-Sept-23 13:38:16

Harry certainly rewrites history

LondonMzFitz Tue 19-Sept-23 14:04:11

Read the book? - if you haven't read it, only the skewed excerpts then you only know a certain perspective -

Jaberwok Tue 19-Sept-23 14:14:16

He certainly does!! Seem to remember a time when Harry was well, lets say a bit near the knuckle when describing certain comrades and even friends! It was he who thought that deviating from the usual uninteresting fair skinned blue eyed Windsors could be a good thing, and said so. Harry has a selective memory and is only too willing to blame others noteably the Press for all his mistruths. eg.. It was an American article that blew the whistle on his time in Afghanistan, plus an article in an Australian woman's magazine, and yet Harry castigates the British Press for that disclosure and more disgracefully their disloyalty to our armed forces, which is demonstrably untrue, and deserves an apology. A vain hope!

I really do not understand how anyone can defend a man who
shares publicly his alleged words to his dead grandmother yet sits next to his wife who mocks his grandmother

crazyH Tue 19-Sept-23 14:19:00

Please leave H&M alone. They fell in love and got married and are living their life. The other one was ‘engineered’ into the RF by her social climbing mother - of course she won’t put a foot wrong . There, I’ve said it !!

susz Tue 19-Sept-23 14:19:38

Megan is proving herself to be a very good actor, don't be fooled by the public persona. They are quite a toxic couple, I am pleased they seem well settled in the US, and certainly hope they stay there.

If you consider putting out a statement on behalf of Prince Harry, written by his communications secretary, and noting his office’s legal battles, doing something, then yes.

They may have done other things, I’ve no idea. I am merely correcting the untruths about how the British media adored Meghan at the beginning of the relationship.

Anniebach Tue 19-Sept-23 14:23:27

Yes you have said it crazyH you also believe in fairies ?

From the poster that will defend the father of Meghan who at every turn will dump on her for £$£$£.

LondonMzFitz Tue 19-Sept-23 14:49:32

I had a colleague walk up to my desk a few weeks ago and say "isn't it disgusting that Meghan celebrated when the Queen died".

A grown man who I had every reason to think well educated up to that point.

Think he learned his lesson from my response.

😂
Maybe, but the other sister, Pippa, married an extremely wealthy man too, so perhaps the daughters just go for a certain type!

You cannot make two people fall in love and Katherine and William always look totally loved up

Anniebach Tue 19-Sept-23 15:05:24

Mrs Middleton chose the university for her daughter.

Arranged for William to become interested in her daughter.

Arranged for William to date her daughter

Arrange for William to move into digs with her daughter

Arranged for William to want to marry her daughter.

Really crazyH ?

Carol Middleton had a nickname, locally, of "Wisteria" - always trying to climb.

I don't know or care how William and Kate feel about each other (not my circus, not my clowns), but her mother knew that she wanted certain things for her kids. 😉

Anniebach Tue 19-Sept-23 15:49:18

And the mother arranged it all lol

Unless anyone personally knows the Middleton family, this is just hearsay, jealous gossip and media speculation.

I wanted the best for all five of our children, as no doubt every mother/parent does/did.

I used the Middleton’s party products, over 25 years ago for birthdays, new year and some Christmas’s as at the time there was not the availability on line as there is now.

It appears to be a unkind sport in the U.K. that if anyone does really well they are put on a podium and lauded until such time the media decides to take them down a peg or twenty…

Whether royal or not, in my opinion it’s just the green eyed monster that is envy.

DiamondLily Tue 19-Sept-23 16:01:00

A bit as the media treated Meghan then - built her up and then shot her down. 🙄

Mojack26 Tue 19-Sept-23 16:07:26

Just a 'normal mom' then!!??🤣

Isn't every opinion on here hearsay, gossip and speculation?

H&M haven't spoken to UK media for about two years - all that's fed to us is Palace PR and tame media gossip, thoughts, speculation.

No one, in the media or anywhere on forums, hears private conversations or knows these people, away from the public stage.😗

Rachel75 Tue 19-Sept-23 16:30:12

Perhaps it’s just the way they write their posts, but there are posters who give the impression that they know the people (the RF or M and H) personally / well and are therefore defending what they know to be true.
