Harry, Meghan and the Invictus Games

Now the Invictus Games have finished, it was a triumph for M&H who showed what they were capable of, mixing and socialising with the competitors and their families with ease and enjoyment. They have been widely praised in other countries. Coverage here seemed to be patchy. Which seems a bit strange and not right for the competitors. But can anyone doubt that the couple could have been a great asset, and modernised the RF, or that Meghan looks so much happier and more relaxed than when she was subjected to royal protocol?

Mrs Middleton chose the university for her daughter.

Arranged for William to become interested in her daughter.

Arranged for William to date her daughter

Arrange for William to move into digs with her daughter

Arranged for William to want to marry her daughter.

Really crazyH ?

Carol Middleton had a nickname, locally, of "Wisteria" - always trying to climb.

I don't know or care how William and Kate feel about each other (not my circus, not my clowns), but her mother knew that she wanted certain things for her kids. 😉

Unless anyone personally knows the Middleton family, this is just hearsay, jealous gossip and media speculation.

I wanted the best for all five of our children, as no doubt every mother/parent does/did.

I used the Middleton’s party products, over 25 years ago for birthdays, new year and some Christmas’s as at the time there was not the availability on line as there is now.

It appears to be a unkind sport in the U.K. that if anyone does really well they are put on a podium and lauded until such time the media decides to take them down a peg or twenty…

Whether royal or not, in my opinion it’s just the green eyed monster that is envy.

Isn't every opinion on here hearsay, gossip and speculation?

H&M haven't spoken to UK media for about two years - all that's fed to us is Palace PR and tame media gossip, thoughts, speculation.

No one, in the media or anywhere on forums, hears private conversations or knows these people, away from the public stage.😗

Prince Harry gave an interview to Tom Bradbry a U.K. journalist which was shown on MSM here in the U.K. to publish his book Spare earlier this year.

I am neither Team Sussex nor Wales neither do I have much faith in any of the media to publish a piece/article that is not biased/slanted in such a way as to sway public opinion according to the politics of the publication/broadcaster.

crazyH

Please leave H&M alone. They fell in love and got married and are living their life. The other one was ‘engineered’ into the RF by her social climbing mother - of course she won’t put a foot wrong . There, I’ve said it !!

😂
Maybe, but the other sister, Pippa, married an extremely wealthy man too, so perhaps the daughters just go for a certain type!

I keep suggesting the same to DD, preferably someone of 99 and three quarters but she doesn't listen.

Perhaps it’s just the way they write their posts, but there are posters who give the impression that they know the people (the RF or M and H) personally / well and are therefore defending what they know to be true.

Some of us just might 🙂

I saw a few clips of film from Invictus. Sadly, I think the H&M circus eclipsed the athletes’ achievements. From what I saw, Harry looked reasonably happy and relaxed at first, but less so after Meghan arrived when she seemed to occupy centre stage a lot. I can see she has many fans on Gransnet, but I’m afraid I am not one of them. I don’t have any problem with her being there as Harry’s wife, to support him, but the emphasis on her frequent changes of outfits seems wrong. I also felt some of her clothing choices, such as tiny shorts and flip-flops were so inappropriate as to be disrespectful to the veterans who were marching in smart uniforms. Either she should have worn the Invictus T-shirt and track suit that the officials, including Harry, wore, or something a bit more dignified and formal. I realise that is just my personal view and I am sorry if I offend Meghan’s many admirers on Gransnet. What seems clear from this thread is that they are very divisive figures and thus maybe not right to head Invictus which is a wonderful institution which deserves all our support.

Like lots of other ccountries, lets give them credit for what they do for the IG. It is so great for the wondeful service men who have given so much. I ws very disappointed that our Royal family chose to ignore this and feel the way the ignore Harry is a form of bullying. I know Harry chose a different path but not to get a simple mention on his birthday seems a bit mean to me - I don't think E2 would have sanctioned this.

Nannypuds Tue 19-Sept-23 17:47:14

Couldn't agree more.

Anniebach Tue 19-Sept-23 17:53:49

And the way Megan has ignored her father since she met Harry, even though he has had a stroke ?

How would you feel if that was your son who had gone on TV, broadcast worldwide, written a book, told lies about the family and trashed your reputations?

The door was still open for Harry but he still continued down the destructive path.

I wonder if he regrets his actions?
I don't mean going to America, that was not why ties are cut, but cutting ties with your family which he himself has should surely mean not expecting more money from them or expecting your children to have titles.

It's very sad indeed.

Not receiving a birthday greeting is absolutely nothing compared to being cut off from your daughter and completely and utterly ignored by that daughter for the rest of your life. Not to mention not being allowed to ever meet your grandchildren.

I know who I think is cruel.

Anniebach Tue 19-Sept-23 19:31:44

Mr Markle has never met Harry , says much about Harry does it not ?

lemsip Tue 19-Sept-23 19:36:42

says much more about his daughter who should have introduced harry to her father before marrying .

eazybee Tue 19-Sept-23 19:41:33

MM's whole family other than her mother have been excluded, and I thought that was unkind at the time, without understanding why. I still don't.
William and Kate were involved in the creation, and financing, of Invictus Games. I think they have been excluded by Harry since he left Britain, and probably think it is best to let him alone to organise it.

Joseann Tue 19-Sept-23 19:44:15

I seem to remember the RF announced they would only wish "Happy Birthday" to adult working royals like Anne. (And maybe children?)

Oh, is that all it was?

He didn't get a Happy Birthday 🎂🥂🎈🎉 on Facebook or Twitter?

Happy birthday, Haz🎈🎁 🎵🎶

I'm assuming that 'Happy Birthday' announcements from the RF refers to the public ones, not private ones which H in all likelihood received.

Don't believe everything you read in the media!

🙂

Callistemon21 Wed 20-Sept-23 10:28:05

King Charles and Prince William didn't send any public wishes to Harry for his 39th birthday

Note the word public

🙂

Glorianny Wed 20-Sept-23 10:31:26

It is amazing how much insight some have into the private affairs of H&M and how the bias they feel towards the RF influences that.
So the RF are estranged from H&M but would have sent H a private birthday greeting
H&M are estranged from M's father and can't possibly have had any contact with him
It's their private life and you really don't know what is going on!

Callistemon21 Wed 20-Sept-23 10:34:21

Well said, yes they did 🙂

Mind you, knowing what the post is like these days, and he wasn't at home anyway ...... did he receive it in time8?

Anniebach Wed 20-Sept-23 10:34:50

Glorianny you believe Mr Markle is a liar ?

Lexisgranny Wed 20-Sept-23 10:51:25

This is getting a bit silly. The Royal family have already said that only working royals would receive a greeting on the website. I would suggest that any Gransnetters who are in possession of personal lists of birthday cards/greetings sent by working members of the Royal family should immediately declare it to stop this speculation and confirm or deny this vitally important issue.

Callistemon21 Wed 20-Sept-23 10:54:22

I couldn't possibly 🤐

this vitally important issue
Someone will be along in a moment to chastise us for wasting valuable time when we should be worrying about far more important matters.

Anyway, my conscience is clear, I publicly wished Harry happy birthday 😁
