Charles & Camilla in Paris

They arrived in windy conditions in Paris today and Camilla looked great, although she had a "Marilyn Monroe moment" on the steps coming down from the plane. I thought the late Queen always had her hems weighted to prevent that.

But Charles - how baggy and scruffy his suit looked next to Macron. Charles is a slim man, like Macron, yet his suit did him no favours whereas Macron looked very smart.

They have got a full programme while they are in Paris. Sounded exhausting.

Madame Macron was very elegantly dressed, but her face and hair look rather ‘ageing Barbie doll’ to me. It really is a mistake to try to look young when you aren’t.

A slightly shorter jacket and slightly slimmer trousers would have made Charles look much smarter. He still has a really decent figure but his suit rather drowns it.

The pink suits Camilla's colouring, but I do wonder why she thought it necessary to wear a hat? Particularly in view of the weather (I assume the Palace has access to weather forecasts?)

I thought it was funny when they arrived and Camilla, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne and the French Ambassador to the UK were all in pink.
I never like Brigitte Macron's clothes, they always look so stiff and unyielding especially round the shoulders.
The TV coverage on France 2 was overly fixated on the menu for tonight, with lengthy discussions with the chefs. 😂

BlueBelle Wed 20-Sept-23 18:34:22

Madam Macrons face has been VERY overdone I m afraid, good figure but Camilla looks much softer and kinder

MerylStreep Wed 20-Sept-23 18:38:17

I love the style of Mme Macron but I have to say that the navy jacket has a very bad fitting bust line.

It’s difficult for Camilla in that she has a short waist.

Yes, Mamie, pink is in every clothes boutique here. I'm half tempted, and have cut this jacket and jumper page out of a brochure!

I am surprised that Camilla wore such a voluminous coat and dress on this windy day. The hat didn’t work at all - clinging on to said hat plus trying to stop dress from riding up plus walking/tottering down stairs from the aircraft - oh dear.

I thought that Camilla looked very good in that pink outfit. Perhaps a surprising choice of colour but it worked very well.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Sept-23 18:58:30

Pink is everywhere at the moment, clothing and interior design, it’s being attributed to the effect of the Barbie Film.

I thought Brigitte Macron looked smart and a little like Jill Biden. They are both early 70s. Camilla is mid-70s and reminded me of Quern Mother.

Thanks for the photo of all four.
Mme Macron looked uncomfortable - she needed to relax the shoulders a bit.
Camilla’s dress does look a bit wedding-ish, but the colour suits her.

annodomini Wed 20-Sept-23 20:03:56

Mme Macron, looks stiff and military in that navy blue suit and her shoulders seem to come up to her ears. Camilla, in contrast, looks much more natural and, indeed, comfortable, despite her windy episode on the aircraft steps.

Fleurpepper Wed 20-Sept-23 20:10:13

Agreed anno. Mme Macron always looks totally plastic and artificial. Not keen on Camilla's outfit, but at least she looks comfortable and 'real'.

Some people simply carry clothes better than others.

merlotgran Wed 20-Sept-23 20:14:06

Camilla’s outfit for the evening would be spot on were it not for the voluminous cape which looks completely OTT with a wide leg jump suit (at least I think that’s what it is)

How much do these dressers get paid? 🤔

Callistemon21 Wed 20-Sept-23 20:14:41

Yes, I said she needed to take a leaf out of her MIL's book - weights in hems.

Who was looking at Charles and Emmanuel?
Camilla and Brigitte both looked fabulous!

Casdon Wed 20-Sept-23 20:16:09

Where’s FannyC, we need one of her sweepstakes - Are you a Camilla or a Brigitte?

The 2 couples looked to me like they were going to different
events. The King and Queen to a wedding and the President
and wife to a business meeting.

Kim19 Wed 20-Sept-23 20:20:02

For me President Macron would look perfect with a couple of inches off his trouser length.

It is said to be a Dior dress, and the cape is silk.

Shame she isn't wearing a tiara.

Casdon Wed 20-Sept-23 20:53:23

Goodness, if it was black she’d be a ringer for Minerva McGonagall.

Sparklefizz Wed 20-Sept-23 21:04:18

Looking at the other men arriving for the banquet, their trousers are all narrower in the leg than Charles' and this is what makes his clothes look too big and baggy and dated. The suit he arrived in was also too big and baggy. Narrower trousers are more stylish for men nowadays. They don't have to be ridiculously narrow but he could definitely take a leaf out of Macron's book.

I notice Mick Jagger was wearing black trainers!

Urmstongran Wed 20-Sept-23 21:18:37

Madame Macron is 70y.
Queen Camilla is 74y.

Casdon Wed 20-Sept-23 21:18:48

Didier Drogba and his partner arriving, now they do look sharp - if somewhat younger.
