AGAA4 can I ask who do you think has "derailed the discussion to focus on their own issues"?
Ms Evans.
He has been suspended by GB News for comments made about a female reporter Ava Evans , " who would want to s**g that, the comments were made in reply to something she has said about male suicide. Why do these misogynistic men think that their penis is the thing that women crave? Grow up and get real , Sex is not the B all and end All of everything, and they way they wave it about who in their right mind would.

Boz
I thought the OGrady women was far worse; constantly trying to turn the conversation to her own agenda of women's issues.
Yes. Male suicide is a problem, and O'Grady trying to make it all about women was pretty stupid and meaningless.🙄
I think some people become entrenched in their own pov, and then have to win their argument to prove it Anniebach add to that the vanity and financial profit of voicing that opinion on tv.....

Thank you, 😊 sometimes I'm confused by the written replies.
The women in that programme didn't want to talk about male suicide; that is what was so bad imo. They wanted women's issues to override the conversation. Fox was OTT - he hasn't been right since Billie Piper left with the kids and he has felt, as said in his interviews, suicidal. A raw nerve was touched.
I see GBeebies has suspended Wootton.
The other issue Geoff Norcott tried to raise was the imbalance in male/female Covid deaths. Again, Evans talked over him.
From: www.menshealthforum.org.uk/covid-19-statistics-england-wales
Proportionately fewer men are dying in the second wave than the first but nonetheless menmake up nearly 2/3 (61%) of Covid-19deaths in people under 85. In the age group 85+, there are nearly twice as many women as men - the legacy of poor men's health in general - and this is the only age group in which most Covid-19 deaths are female.
This chart reflects ONS data published up until 27 July 2021.
It is something that needs to be investigated, whether it is to do with immunity, general health, employment or lifestyle.
Dan Wooten ought not to have allowed that to go unchallenged. All boys together? Hmmm….
So some of you think Laurence Fox made a perfectly appropriate response?
Understandable for a person with suicidal thoughts
The men’s behaviour was disgusting and I hope that this starts to spell an end to their toxic careers.
Laurence Fox is a misogynist creep, and no amount of disagreement with any woman’s point of view makes defending his language and attitudes - or those of the smirking Wootton - appropriate, as far as I’m concerned.
I am glad the two of them have been suspended, and I hope they are both sacked.
It is entirely correct that freedom of speech carries, as it has always done, proportionate consequences.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a TV debate about male-suicide - with an all-male panel?
And then we can hear what they think and feel without women who have an agenda injecting it into the conversation.
I'm not offended by Fox's terminology - just the fact that, as frequently happens - the validity of a woman's opinion is measured by whether or not she's 'shaggable'.
Time and time again Laurence Fox lets himself down with his juvenile language. Why does he do it? In this instance he sounds as if he is addressing a group of not very bright 16 year old lads.
He’s a well educated, supposedly intelligent man who should be able to make his point without resorting to that sort of language.
In the past I have agreed with many of his views ( especially his anti- woke stance!) but he’s gone too far this time, despite how irritating the female journalist was.
It was reported on the lunch-time news in rather a biased way with no background, and I thought it was just another despicable rant against a woman by Fox. It wasn't until I read more about it on this thread that I understood the background to this Fox story.
What he said was immature and absolutely despicable but, hearing now that Ava Evans tried to turn the discussion away from the very real problems of young male suicide, he was right to be angry.
Surely there was a much better way of showing his anger and instigating a proper, public debate about this than his puerile outburst?
Whatever happened to British good manners? Perhaps TV progs should be pre- recorded and edited.
I have great sympathy for young men but I find most of what Lawrence Fox says and believes in, obnoxious.. he actually promotes himself as being anti-woke..
everything he says is like an immature spoilt child, I don't care that he's a man
Fox has now turned the focus from the suicide discussion on to his immature behaviour.

Time for the BBC to show Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health again:

That is a good idea, Dickens. Men do need to be given an opportunity to voice their concerns without being dismissed and I know that my son would agree with this. I see that Evans has apologised, saying that her comments were "a little harsh". Sorry, not sorry, more like.

If his outburst had been out of character you could almost feel sorry for him.
But it wasn't and, with his background, he should have the ability to be more articulate than that. Ava Evans was wrong to dismiss the tragedies and try to turn the debate, however, his misogyny shines through.
His last girlfriend had a lucky escape.
As for that other man, Dan Wootton? Smiling and smirking?
I understand that GB news is testing the boundaries of what Ofcom will allow and has a number of investigations ongoing. I am totally amazed that anyone could feel that it was acceptable for Fox to speak in the way he did and defend it in terms of "free speech". Wootton should have immediately made it clear that his comments were unacceptable. IMO young men are being harmed by the views of Fox, Tate et al not helped. There are much more effective ways of challenging the views of others than stooping to misogynistic tropes.
Sorry I am a bit late to this but was Wooton suspended for his role in this or for the allegations following him around.
this is what it says on his wikipedia page which I know is not a reliable source of information....
On 26 September 2023, whilst appearing on Wootton's GB News show, actor Laurence Fox made sexual comments about journalist Ava Evans that the broadcaster deemed "totally unacceptable". Wootton, who could be seen laughing at points as Fox spoke, subsequently issued two statements in response, saying he had reacted "out of shock".[53] Fox and Wootton were subsequently suspended from the channel pending an internal investigation
